Chapter 75 : The Great Rescue
The trolls ran towards Rakiza and Theo as they gripped their weapons and prepared for a bloody fight. And then suddenly, a loud explosion shook the entire underground hall, followed by the growling of the ground like an earthquake struck the area. And then the fight started, with some of Theo’s people attacking the vampires. While Theo and Rakiza went to where Nikolas had seated. No one on the werewolves’ side had shifted into werewolves. They fought using their weapons, and some human visitors screamed for the exit. But the vampire’s thirst for blood took over their senses and attacked and bit all human visitors.
But all their sipping and sucking of blood were disturbed by the second explosion that caused a fire and started to burn the curtain hanging from the wall.
Theo screamed, “The fire is flaring, we must cover Nikolas,” He jumped off the ground and cover Nikolas with a think wide raincoat.
Tessa was astounded by what happened as the fire sprinkler started to spray water due to fire and smoke alarm reactions. And then screamed whoever sprinkled by the water and their skin smoked as if sprayed by acid or exposed to the sun. Her trolls drew Tessa back into the elevator, but Ajella blocked their way by fighting the trolls who were accompanying Tessa’s escape.
Theo used all his might to pull Nikolas from the chair and tried to escape from the poisoned sprinkler and made their way to the elevator going up. “Into the elevator, Rakiza!” Theo screamed as he drew Nikolas into the second elevator.
Ajella on the other hand was fighting and slashing the enemy, but she wasn’t aware that the Vampire general’s eyes had seen her and he was running towards her raising his sword to stab Ajella in the back. But Rakiza was too quick to draw her dagger from her waist and threw it to the general and struck it to his nape. He turned around holding his neck and the dagger which became red. Blood streamed out from his flesh and he groaned both in anger and in pain from the poison.
Theo screamed again, “Retreat!”
Rakiza turned around and saw that Theo and Nikolas were inside the elevator. And the huge general was blocking her way, moving towards her. She then shouted to Theo, “Let’s meet at home!” And she started to tun and fought against the giant general and the general was becoming weaker as the poison started to take effect. Rakiza drew her sword when a woman vampire held her shoulder and was fuming and smoking due to poison from the sprinkle Rakiza thrust her sword into her stomach and she screamed in so much pain. Rakiza then retreated using the wheeled cart back into the Lux Solaris Café. She joined and helped the human prey exited while the other had been unfortunately killed by the injured angry vampires.
Ajella later joined Rakiza in fighting and rescuing some of the victims. They were fortunate to reach the upper exit and ran as fast as they could to the café's exit. Vampires, however, stood in their way. Rakiza and Ajella exchanged glances and began fighting hand in hand, back-to-back until they reached outside the café house, closed the door, and sprayed it with poison.
The night was still dark, and the road was deserted. "We have to run to the back of the building," Ajella said, pausing Rakiza. "No. I linked with Theo. They are on their way out of the building. We should request that the others leave. We now have the package. "
But suddenly, a big man stood on the road ahead of us. He was an angry vampire. And now he was furious and was determined to kill Rakiza and company. He ran towards the car and bumped them so hard that the young driver did not shift and left the car. Ajella screamed, "He killed him." The boy was immobile and blood was sprouting from his mouth; lots of blood. Another blew, and Rakiza jumped out of the car and prepared to fight the blocker. Rakiza wasn’t expecting her to do something she hadn’t known. She jumped high over the huge vampire and managed to thrust the sword over his head, and it was so deep that he was unable to move. Rakiza landed on the ground, still unable to believe what she had done. The huge vampire dropped dead on the ground, and Ajella was shocked and stared at Rakiza, perplexed. All the deterrents had been killed.
"How did you manage it?" Ajella couldn't say anything about what Rakiza had done. "You performed a feat that no normal human being could."
Rakiza was astounded by what she did, saying, "I don't know. I felt as if I were being thrown into the air by a strong wind. We must depart."
After Ajella had linked with another group of werewolves, the retrievers, who were closer to where they were, they left the boy after Ajella had mourned for a few minutes and delivered a few ceremonial words for the dead. They walked away, leaving the young boy driver inside the wrecked car. Rakiza hesitated to leave, but Ajella persisted, saying, "Let the retrievers do their job."
They walked for miles and took a bus back to Theo’s cottage. But Theo and the rest weren’t there.
"Where are they?" Rakiza asked.
Ajella was busy sniffing around in silence while Rakiza was thinking about what to do next. She was recalling her last words to Theo before Theo entered the elevator with Nikolas. "I told Theo to meet us at home." She mumbled.
Ajella approached her, "Let’s go."
"Go where?"
"I’ve linked to Theo, and he instructed me to meet them in a place."
"What place?" Rakiza asked.
"You’ll know when we’re there." Ajella exited fast, and Rakiza followed her.
They had another long walk before they hitched a ride. An old couple was heading west the same as them and let them get into their car at the back. It was already dawn, and the sun would rise soon. Rakiza trusted Ajella with everything. She’s a great help in rescuing Nikolas, and she must continue to trust her. She was sleepy when Ajella asked her something that woke her.
"Do you love him?" Ajella asked.
"Love who?" Rakiza asked.
"Nikolas is the vampire prince," Ajella said frankly. "You risked our lives just for the adversary. Is he worth a werewolf’s life, Rakiza? "
Rakiza could feel something was not right from the way Ajella spoke. "Why are you so concerned about my feelings towards Nikolas, Ajella?"
"Forget it," Ajella murmured and closed her eyes. She was pretending to fall asleep.
But Rakiza was pretty sure that she was fully awake. She could feel her heartbeat. And she wondered if she was hearing Ajella’s heartbeat, but tried to discard it. She thought about being an ordinary woman. She couldn’t hear or feel someone else’s heartbeat. She tried to get some sleep as Ajella did, and she fell asleep later.
After a few hours, Rakiza suddenly awoke and saw that they were crossing a forest. And she began to wonder where they were going. The car they hitched was beginning to climb a rocky road. "Where are we going, Ajella?"
Ajella didn’t open her eyes, still sleeping as Rakiza tried to clear the view outside the running car. And she began to see a white mountain. It’s snowing. She got confused by the sudden change in the climate. It was summer in the place they came from, and now they were in the snowy mountains? She tapped Ajella’s shoulder to wake her up.
"Ajella, wake up." Rakiza was still looking at the white mountain. “Ajella, this is bizarre. The climate suddenly changed, and it’s the drastic opposite. From summer to winter. She kept on observing the passing scene. Am I dreaming of traveling in the winter season?"
And then Ajella woke up, took a glimpse outside the car window, and yelled. "Stop! Stop Mister. " Ajella screamed frantically, which made her jolt awake. "What is this?"
"Can you tell me what this place is?" Rakiza asked back. But Ajella wasn’t telling her the truth. "We have reached our destination, madam, and sir." The old driver halted the car and wished them good luck.
"Are you two both sure this is your destination?" The older woman asked, with concern, about their stopping spot. "We can’t come back to give you some help. Just remember that. "
"Yeah, we’re pretty much certain that this is our destination. Just go and have a blessed day. " Ajella was smiling. "Bye-bye, and be careful."
Rakiza scanned around and saw nothing but trees on the mountain and the snowy ground. She started freezing.
"We have to find shelter against the freezing wind." Ajella was marching down the slope, and Rakiza had no choice but to follow Ajella.
And as she watched Ajella while following her. She began to wonder whether Ajella was sincere in her help or if she was just playing a hidden agenda that could harm her in the end.
