Caveman II

Camila's POV
"I guess she's a screamer. Be careful with that one son." Arnold jokes, his laugh now a mix between a cackle and a cough. My shock is replaced with revulsion as I send the man a disgusted glare.
He doesn't even pay me any mind and I eye Alejandro who's standing next to him looking less than impressed. He steps forward and meets my eye as he subtly nods and raises a brow, sending me that look. The one that's a silent question, making sure I'm okay.
I muster up a smile but before I can nod and say I'm fine, I watch his gaze move to my side, where Jacob leans down towards my face. I feel his lips at my ear and when I look at Alejandro I don't miss the subtle extra step he takes towards us.
"Your vocals are impressive but I bet I could have you screaming louder than that." Jacob says and I freeze as my eyes widen and my face completely flushes.
That came out of no where and to make matters even worse, Arnold chuckles meaning he heard the crude remark.
I shut my eyes in absolute mortification, preparing to tell Jacob to put me down but I'm momentarily cut off by the sound of Alejandro's calm voice. "That's enough, I got her." He says and I open my eyes to see him now directly in front of us. His voice is attempting to come off as lighthearted but he fails and instead it's a firm command.
His face gives nothing away, but I catch the way his eyes narrow in scrutiny towards Jacob. He's annoyed.
My brows furrow at his odd behaviour. He doesn't in fact 'got me' and when he steps forward motioning for me to get into his arms, I instantly shake my head. He can't lift me when he's injured, what's gotten into him?
"It's fine." I say giving Alejandro a puzzled look as I place a hand on his chest and try to push him back. He needed to move back so I could jump down, but the idiot simply ignores me and looks towards Jacob who chuckles.
"You heard her, I got it. Besides I'm a grown man, Alejandro. I think I can handle a cute little thing like her." He jokes.
And then a silent sigh leaves my lips when I see Alejandro's relatively easy going expression harden. Jacob was simply making a harmless joke but of course Alejandro wouldn't understand that.
Instead he takes another step forward, once again towering Jacob who's got me in his arms. I can tell he's pissed and when his jaw ticks and his foot impatiently taps on the ground, he snaps. "Give her back," He seethes.
Jacob blinks in confusion at the sudden change in his attitude while I narrow my eyes at Alejandro, who's acting like a child. A bratty one at that, who's treating like I'm the last piece of candy at the corner store.
What the fuck was wrong with him? I could speak for myself.
I try catching his eye one last time, but he's still keen on glaring at Jacob. Eventually I get sick of his attitude and smack his side where I know his bruise is. His eyes snap down to mine in outrage but he still takes a step back.
I take the chance to move out of Jacob's hold. He sets me down, but I lose my footing a bit before steadying myself, but not before Alejandro pushes himself forward and holds onto my waist, steadying me after I was able to steady myself.
Jacob, Greta and Arnold start heading towards the terrace where we will be having lunch, but before I can step forward I realize Alejandro's still holding my waist only now he's trying to lift me into his arms.
"Get off of me!" I hiss pushing him away from me. His outrageous behaviour would be comical if I wasn't so annoyed with him. He steps back, growling under his breath and I can tell he's agitated. "You can't carry me, what's gotten into you?" I spit.
Alejandro's eyes narrow as he squares his shoulders, stepping forward, like I had just insulted him. "Of course I can carry you and I will." He replies stubbornly.
It's then that I realize he took what I said the wrong way. He thinks I'm questioning his masculinity. With a roll of my eyes, I stare at the caveman before me. This is why men were idiots, they thought with their egos. "I mean your injury." I deadpan.
He pauses and then it's like her remembers he's injured and has some sense knocked back into him.
He nods, clearing his throat and the next thing I know he's turned to start walking after our guests, while I'm left to walk next to him.
"You know, Greta tripped me on purpose." I mumble side eyeing him. He stays quiet and simply stares ahead of us, and my frustration only intensifies. "I'm not lying. I saw it with my own eyes."
He needed to do something about her. He lets her walk all over him and get away with so much shit. It's beyond outrageous considering Alejandro doesn't even tolerate disrespect from his own men.
If anyone else talked to him the way Greta does, they would have been six feet under a while ago.
I hear him sigh, "I know you're not lying. I'll talk to her about it." He mumbles and I instantly detect the empty promise.
I know what that's code for. He's not going to do anything about it, and the thought grinds my gears. What did Greta have over his head to make him act so out of character?
I walk ahead of him and round the table on the terrace to sit next to Jacob and away from his stupid ass, but the second I go to take the seat next to Jacob, Alejandro directs Greta into it. And then he pushes me back towards the chair next to what I presume is his and across from Jacob's.
No one else notices the subtle move but I do and I send a questioning glare to Alejandro. I didn't appreciate him handling me like some fucking possession of his.
Yet he still ignores me as he takes his seat after pushing me into mine and when he does he sits back in the chair looking more relieved than before.
The servers bring us our food but I continue to eye him as he acts like he didn't just force me into the chair next to his. He doesn't even look at me and instead starts to fold the sleeves of his dress shirt up exposing his veiny forearms.
With a sigh of annoyance I eye him one last time as he throws his sunglasses over his eyes and turns towards Arnold, immediately going into business mode.
The move makes me narrow my eyes in exasperation. So there was no real purpose of me sitting here?
I have the sudden urge to smack him upside the head, but instead I simply glare at the side of it before my eyes naturally trail down his attractive form.
He's wearing a black dress shirt with a few buttons popped off. He opted for black instead of white this morning in case his cut leaked. But with the way he's casually sitting, you wouldn't suspect he's wounded in any way.
In fact, he looks stronger than ever. His dress shirt hugs his strong biceps and broad shoulders perfectly. And his posture although laid back, still radiates power.
I see him lean further back in his chair and when his eyes briefly stray to Jacob who chimes into their conversation, Alejandro subtly throws his arm over the back of my chair.
I purse my lips and turn away from him, focusing on eating my food. He did that on purpose. Even though he's not directly talking to Jacob he's still communicating. And he's loud and clear.
Its a subtle message, he's telling him to back off. If I didn't know any better I'd say he was either being extreme protective or jealous.
I was hoping for the latter, but it was more possible that the first option was correct.
When I direct my attention to Jacob, he tunes out of Arnold and Alejandro's conversation, sending me a warm smile. One that I send back, "You look different from the last time I saw you." He mumbles, his eyes searching my face.
I raise a brow mildly curious. "Is that a good or bad thing?"
He chuckles and shakes his head as he scans my upper body, "Good thing, don't get me wrong you were always so pretty. It's just that now you seem more..."
I lean forward, intrigued and when his eyes snap down to my chest they linger. "Mature and..." He trails off continuing to scan my form.
