Runaway III

Camila's POV
I take a sharp right onto the sidewalk, my heels clicking against the pavement as I slide my purse bag onto my shoulder and walk down the street in search of the nearest club.
I was in a simple white bodycon dress that scrunched up at the sides, and a pair of black strapy heels. My bag was YSL and had it not been for the giant SUV following behind me, I would have been scared someone was going to mug me.
When the car rolls up next to me and starts trailing me as I walk, I turn my head just as the window rolls down.
"Camila." Marco growls.
I smile missing the sight of his face up close. "Well hello to you too."
He doesn't reciprocate my smile. Instead he sends me a blank look. "I don't want to spend my night babysitting you. Just get in the car so we can go home."
My smile turns into a sarcastic one as I continue to walk and he continues to drive along the empty road at a snails pace to match mine. "I missed you too."
When his face doesn't change telling me he's not having any of my shit, I roll my eyes. "I need my own space. If it's so much of a bother just go home. I'll be fine on my own." I reason.
Marco shakes his head is disapproval with a frown. "The minute you get hurt or I think you can't handle it, I'm calling Capo to come get you." He says, not even giving me a chance to protest before he drives off to the other side of the road, leaving me alone.
This way it's a lot less obvious and with a sigh I continue walking knowing arguing with him was useless.
Instead I focus on the warm night air that felt amazing against my skin. The street was dark and empty but I could hear the pounding of a club somewhere in the distance.
It was liberating and I found myself smiling. That was until I passed two figures hunched on the side of a passing building.
I spared them a glance in passing before, pausing and turning around to get a good look at them.
The larger figure was dragging a much smaller figure down the street and upon furthur inspection, the girls face told me all that I needed to know.
This man was bothering her.
Narrowing my eyes, I take a few steps back, plastering a smile on my face. "There you are!" I chirp catching their attention.
The girls eyes instantly find mine and I can see the relief pass through them, while the man's trail me from head to toe. I meet his gaze and the glint in his eyes makes me want to throw up.
She laughs nervously, "Oh hey. I was just looking for you." She breaths awkwardly as I move towards her and link my arm with hers, subtly pulling her away from the man.
"Who's this?" I say looking towards the man.
He was younger, seeming to be in his early twenties. But creeps weren't all old fat men. This one looked like your average Joe.
"I don't know him." The girl whispers and an awkward silence ensues as I stare at him waiting for him to move along.
But he does no such thing, instead he looks between us both his eyes narrowing in question, before they light up, like he's just hit the jackpot. "Nice try. I'm not falling for it." He smirks, taking a step closer to both of us.
I narrow my eyes. "What are you even talking about? You know what, it doesn't even matter. We were just leaving." I say rolling my eyes as I try walking pull us away from him.
But the asshole grabs onto her wrist stopping us and pulling us back towards him. His eyes narrow and he takes a step closer to me. "Dumb bitches like you are alway bluffing, I'm not stupid." He spits getting all up in my face, "But lucky for you I don't discriminate against the types of women I want my dick shoved into." He says his eyes roaming down my body.
My face scrunches up in disgust and just as he's about to reach for my waist I stop him. "I wouldn't do that if I were you."
His eyes stay glued to my chest and I have the urge to vomit. They trial back up to my face and they narrow at the look of disgust that I do nothing to hide. Inod behind me to the other side of the street.  "You see that car parked across the street?" The man pauses and looks back behind me to the SUV.
The car is idling telling us there's someone inside but little does this creep know that it's an angry giant that's bored and likes beating the shit out of people for fun.
I smile at the long haired weirdo and he straightens up thinking that he's being watched. "Well there's a scary man in the car watching over me, just waiting for a dumbass with a death wish like you to piss him off."
The mans eyes narrow and he looks at me like I'm the lunatic before shaking his head and moving away from me and towards the girl. "Crazy bitch." He mumbles, before yanking the girl out of my hold and moving away from Marco's sight.
"Let go of her." I bite harshly.
He stops and turn to glare at me and had it not been for the security of Marco watching over me, I would have been scared. "Leave us alone, before I do soemthing to ruin that pretty little face of yours." He spits moving his jacket to the side to reveal his weapon.
A knife.
Not one of those deadly looking ones lined across the training room walls, alongside the multiple guns I deal with when training with Marco.
A pathetic little pocket knife.
I want to laugh, and with a roll of my eyes, I settle for a tired sigh. "Look, if you don't leave her alone I'll scream."
The man's face turns red in rage as he grabs the pocket knife and moves towards me. Sadly my body is covering Marco's view of the knife but I'm not scared. "Fuck. Off." He growls.
"Fine I guess it's your funeral." I mumble and just as he charges towards me I hand my bag over to the girl who's staring at me with wide eyes. I send her a reassuring smile and a wink. "Hold this for me, please."
She takes it and blinks at me in confusion but I'm too busy turning back towards the man moving towards me with his knife.
With a dramatic scream I throw myself back and fall onto the ground, knowing that this way with me falling Marco gets to see the asshole holding the pocket knife and will assume he's trying to stab me.
The creep pauses to blink down at me in confusion but I ignore him and continue to cry out. "Ow! Help! Help! Someone please help me!" I scream.
The man cringes back as he covers his ears, "What the fuck? I haven't even touched you-"
He cuts himself off with a yelp, and I stop my dramatic show to watch as Marco grabs the man by the back of his collar and in one swift motion flings him away. Where he lands with a thud on the pavement a few feet away from me.
I watch his face completely drop as he cries out in pain, but instead of staying to watch, I get up dusting my dress off as Marco moves towards the guy on the ground.
I did warn him.
I step past the guy that's about to get the shit beat out of him, and instead I look up at Marco who sends me a look in passing.
One that I know too well. An I told you so look. One that tells me I have about half an hour max before Alejandro comes looking for me.
And so with a sigh, I grab ahold of the girls arm and drag her away from the scene and towards the club.
She turns her face and stares at me in shock. "What- how? Are you okay?" She splutters.
I smile down at her, before grabbing my bag from her outstretched hands. "Yeah, are you?"
She blinks, continuing to walk with me. "Yeah. I think so." She breaths and then looks up at me. "What kind of person has security like that?"
I look forward and purse my lips. "One with an overprotective boyfriend?" I reason, before glancing at her attire and changing the subject. "Where were you headed?" I ask.
The girls demeanour complete shifts and it's like she completely gets over what just happened. "Oh!" She laughs. "To this new club I heard about, down the street."
I smile at her and my eyes light up. "Great, me too."
My time was running out and I knew that there was currently a overprotective Alejandro in caveman mode coming to find me.
And he may have been understanding before, but he definitely wouldn't be after getting a call that I nearly got stabbed. And until then, I was going to need a drink.
