Game Over, Bitch IV
Camila's POV
"Uhuh." I nod, smiling my way through whatever bullshit Arnold is spewing at me.
But instead of offering any sort of real response to his ignorant statements, I pick up my pace as I walk us towards the guesthouse.
Alejandro had requested that I lead Arnold there once he arrives, seeing as this meeting was going to be done out there.
But what I didn't anticipate was the man's need to share his unwanted opinions to anyone and everyone who was willing to listen.
I was not willing to listen and so, increasing my pace, I move towards the door to the guest house and walk into the main area where Alejandro is standing, near the bar.
"Arnold." He nods as the old man walks in behind me. Alejandro moves towards the set of couches, ushering Arnold and I to do the same but before I can go, Arnold stops me by placing a hand on my shoulder.
"I'll have a scotch on the rocks, dear." He smiles kindly, before moving to take a seat on one of the sofas.
My face falls and I look towards Alejandro who narrows his eyes at Arnold.
"Have a seat, Principessa." Alejandro says, side stepping Arnold as he moves towards the bar to prepare the old man's drink.
Arnold chuckles after Alejandro. "I never thought i'd live to see the day that a man moves to make a drink for me when there's a perfectly capable lady standing around." He says, shaking his head.
Alejandro chuckles and I can tell it's forced. He hands Arnold his drink and my jaw tightens as I glare at Arnold, biting my tongue.
"Well considering you've been around for ages and are one salted French fry away from a heart attack, I'd say that's pretty hard to believe." Alejandro replies, all traces of humour gone in his tone, yet a small fake smile gracing his lips.
Arnold pauses to look at Alejandro, but before he can reply Alejandro's moving on. "Anyways I think we should get to it, shouldn't we?"
Arnold grumbles but agrees nonetheless.
He proceeds to sign the doted lines in the contract as Alejandro goes into further detail about each section and I take a seat next to him.
I watch, anxiously as he signs every line handing over most of his shares of his company to Alejandro in exchange for a large sum of money, of course. But it's only when he finishes signing the last line that I get the feeling that this is all going way too smoothly.
There had to be a catch.
And my theory is proven right when Alejandro moves to take the contract from Arnolds hand but the man holds it back. I do hope you don't mind that I'd prefer Greta be here before I hand you this." Arnold says and I tense.
"She's not here." I mutter.
Arnold glances at me for the first time and then glances at his watch as he gets comfortable in his chair. "Oh she should be coming soon. I texted her before my arrival telling her to come join us when she's done." And then he's smiling at Alejandro.
"She shouldn't be too long. Why don't we just wait."
"Why is that necessary?" I question.
Arnold sighs, looking towards me. "If you're tired sweetheart, you can go and call it a night. Just let us handle it from here on." He smiles and although it's subtle, I don't miss the patronising undertone of his sexist suggestion.
But before I can reply Alejandro's standing up and moving towards him. "Cazzo, you couldn't shut up with your sexist bullshit for one second could you, Stronzo?" He mumbles, irritation clear in his voice. (Fuck | asshole)
And then the next thing I know, he's throwing his elbow out and jabbing Arnold across the face, knocking the old man out cold. Once Arnolds head lulls to the side, Alejandro reaches down, grabbing the contract as I stand up, my eyes wide.
But before I can speak, the doors burst open and Marco walks in with Greta's limp body thrown over his shoulder. "Where do you want her, Capo?"
She looks just like I left her, bloody, bald headed, toothless and broken nosed, only this time she's completely unconscious.
Alejandro nods towards the sofa Arnold's on. "Dump her next to her father and leave them." He murmurs glancing down to his watch. "He should be here soon and when he's here no one else is to be around." He mutters.
My shoulders tense as Marco complies and leaves the room without another word.
Alejandro moves towards me, placing a hand on the small of my back as he makes a move to leave. "Wait." I murmur, my chest heaving as I glance at Arnold and Greta. "So we're just giving Greta to Nico too?"
Alejandro pauses, his brows furrowing in confusion. "Yes."
I turn to look at him, my chest heaving as doubt creeps in. "What about Jacob?" I ask.
He straightens out, clearing his throat. "Jacob will be rather... preoccupied." He says, ominously, not looking into my eyes.
My face scrunches up. "What?"
Alejandro sighs and looks into my eyes. "I sent him to manage the corporate office in Australia. By the time he hears about their death, he won't suspect a thing. He'll be told it was some freak accident." Alejandro sighs.
I nod, but that wasn't what I was talking about. He didn't deserve to lose his family. I cast a glance towards the unconscious bodies lying on the sofas.
"So that's it? Nico's just gonna kill them and I'm free?" I wonder. Was I really going to just save myself without worrying about what would happen to Jacob?
Alejandro's hand on the small of my back starts to rub up and down soothingly and he stares ahead at Arnold and Greta.
His tone turns dark and gravely. "Nico doesn't kill. He slaughters and by then, well, they'll be begging to be dead." He murmurs and when I glance towards him, I catch a hint of remorse on his face.
But then he turns towards me. "It's you or them, baby and I won't hesitate to do whatever's necessary to ensure you're safety. But at the end of the day, this decision is in your hands, Camila ." He murmurs, moving forward to place a kiss on my forehead and then one on my temple.
"Sappi solo che devi essere un po' egoista in questa vita, è l'unico modo per sopravvivere." He breathes against temple. (Just know that you need to be a little selfish in this life, that's the only way you'll survive.)
I look towards Alejandro and into his eyes. They're soft and understanding and although I know he would hand them over to Nico in a heartbeat to save me, he's giving me complete control over the situation.
My heart swells with affection and something that I can only pin with as unconditional love for the man next to me.
I had long ago realised that I was brought into a life that was solely set up to work against me, manipulate me, control me.
I was never in control.
And right now Alejandro was giving me some sense of control.
With a deep breath I nod, grabbing onto Alejandro's hand and giving it a squeeze. "Me for them." I confirm as I let Alejandro lead me out of the guesthouse and towards the main house.
We walk along the cobblestone path, it's mainly trees and plants of sorts along the way but I focus on the back of Alejandro's head as he leads me home.
Alejandro's world was twisted, cruel and deceitful. Things never worked in his favour. No, he manipulated them to work in his favour - my favour.
And despite that fact, I couldn't find it in my heart to want him to change.
I stop in my tracks and tug on Alejandro's hand, halting his movements.
He turns around, his face scrunched up in concern. "What's wrong?" He asks, his eyes flickering all across my face.
But instead of replying, I bring his hand thats holding mine to the seam of my lips and I place a peck across the skin.
I stare up at him, his brows are furrowed and he's watching me curiously but I don't care.
Instead of offering an explanation, I smile against the skin of the back of his hand, my eyes meeting his.
"Ti amo." I murmur softly. (I love you)
And despite everything going on right now, the man stops and blinks at me in wonder before his face breaks out into the biggest smile I've ever seen him wear.
It's blinding, one of those smiles that I rarely ever get to see.
The one that's so rare and precious that I want to lock it away and cherish it forever. The one where his dimples pop out and his eyes crinkle. The one where he regards me like I'm the most important thing in his world.
The one that tells me he'd do just about anything for me.
And maybe that's dangerous. Maybe the type of love Alejandro has for me is suffocating, it's the type where he'd abandon all his morals for me.
And maybe I'm supposed to turn away this type of love because it could be toxic and destructive.
But how could I, when I feel the exact same way about him?
Alejandro was my salvation and I'd do just about anything for him.
