CHAPTER 66
CHAPTER 66
Like a baby who needs guidance and assistance, my friends took care of me. For the second time around.
"I'm such a burden." I suddenly said, while we're at my dining table, eating lunch.
They look at me with wary in their eyes. They sigh. "You're not." Venus said.
"It’s the second time you went to me and took care of me." I replied.
"That's because we love you." Venus said, Celine and Tony nodded.
"And we don't want you repeating the things you've done last time." Celine said.
"Yes, bit’s. We don't want you partying hard and making out to almost every human with a pen*s." Tony said with concern and a little annoyed.
"Watch your words, brother." Celine warned.
"It’s okay." I said.
"How did you know, anyway?" I asked them, while sipping coffee.
Yes, coffee at lunch. There's nothing wrong with that.
"Jem." Celine said. "He called me and told me that you had a big fight with Emerson." She added.
Then I nodded. "Can you tell us now what happened?" Tony asked and I nodded.
I stood up the chair and went to the living room's couch. I literally crawl on it.
Putting my feet up on the couch while they followed, I sighed.
Please don't make my tears fall. I don't want to do it again. I don't want to cry anymore.
"Yesterday during dinner time, we went to this place. I mean, it’s where Emerson used to work as a bartender." I started and they look shocked that Emerson would bring me there.
"It was a nice resto club. We were so happy. He even performed for me. As I said, it felt perfect. Then, Crizza. She appeared on my side my Emerson's performing. You met her, actually. The woman who barge in the Emerald's." I said.
Tony groaned. "Yeah that b*tch. I remember her." He said.
Then I nodded. "So we pretended to be a couple and in order to leave her. I said to Emerson that we should go home in his apartment." I said, sighing. "We thought it’s okay. Until we noticed that someone's following us." When I look at them, their mouths are open. "That's the reason we decided to go to his penthouse." I said.
Here it comes.
"When we're at his penthouse, we.. Ahhh... We.. " I started finding a word to apply.
"You had s*x?" Tony asked softly.
I shook my head and they all sighed. "We made out." I simply said.
"He let me wait on his office while he cooks." I added.
They waited for me to go on but they didn't push to it. "That’s where I saw a folder. A blue folder. It contains my picture, lots of pictures. Some from the coffee shop, jogging with you." I said, pointing to Celine. "Having lunch with you and you." Pointing to Venus and Tony. "He also has a picture of me in the church, during Mia's funeral." And that made them shock.
"What?!" Celine exclaimed.
"Yes, he knew me. He hired an investigator and even had a background check to almost everything." I said softly, tears are warning in my eyes to flow.
"He stalked you." Celine said and I nodded.
"What hurts me the most is he used me." I said, closing my eyes.
"What did he do?" Tony asked.
"You knew that I'm working at his company to find evidence that would support his CFO is pocketing funds from him." They all nodded. "He...." Swallowing, "He set it up." I said as tears started to fall again.
They didn't talk.
"He has a signature forger's number onside that folder, even statement of accounts. The same statements I saw on Jean's folder. He has a copy of it." I said, greeting my teeth. "He planned it all." I finally said.
They still don't talk.
Emerson pov
Martha continues to knock at my door. From making me eat breakfasts, bathing, eat lunch and everything. She always check up on me. Me? I went out of my room at lunch time. I couldn't go to the office my body is like dead.
After eating lunch, I went back at my room again. Martha nods and I let her come in. It’s the least I could do for her staying with me.
"You won't accomplish something if you're just going to lay down on your bed." She said, walking to my side and sit on the couch. "She won't forgive you if won't do anything." She added.
Yes it’s true. But, I don't know how.
"I know it’s the first time you experienced it, but don't make your first time be a mistake." She added. "Stand up, think of everything you could so she would forgive you." She finally said before stepping out of my room.
How?
Then realization came in. I stood up from the bed, went to the bathroom and have a shower.
After a few minutes, I'm done. All cleaned up. I wear a pair of jeans and a gray shirt.
Picking up my wallet and car key, I thought, where's my phone? Then I remembered that I threw it.
Shrugging, I step out of my bedroom and making Martha shocked as h*ll. She looks like she has seen a crime.
I heard her asking as to where am I going but I didn't answer her.
Love pov
"I know it’s not our place to tell you this but maybe, just may be the reason why he did all of those things is the fact that he wanted to know you, to be with you. Maybe he has feelings for you?" Venus said, caressing my hair.
Huh! Feelings? That can't be. I mean that's not possible.
Celine and Tony nodded in agreement. "If he doesn't like you, he won't be staying with you and won't even let you come and see his past." Celine said.
"You need to look beyond your thinking." Tony added. "Or better yet, let him explain his side of the story."
"He betrayed me. I trusted him." I said silently.
"You've been through a lot of things but you made it with a smile on your face." Celine encouraged.
"I don't know. It’s different." I said. "It felt different." I added.
"Why it’s different?" Venus asked.
"Because.... Because." I started, swallowing. "Because I like him." I said. "I like him so much it hurts." I added.
They didn't speak again, suddenly, there is someone knocking at the door.
That can't be him.
Don't let behind that door be him.
I'm not ready to talk.
I was about to stand up at the couch and go to my room, when Tony stopped me and shook his head. He knows I won't open it.
"Don't open it if it’s him." I said to Tony who approaches the door.
He tried to poke at the peephole but his face is confused.
"I don't see someone." He said.
Then someone knocks at the door again and he pokes at it again. But he shook his head.
It’s not a horror story or something so he unlocks the door and pulls it, making it wide open.
And there he was, kneeling in two knees, carrying a bouquet of flowers. He's looking at me like he never seen me in years. He looked at my eyes like he missed me that much.
Those eyes that always make me lost.
