CHAPTER 38

"Don't talk to me, Charlotte; don't forget that I caught you cheating with Odin. As soon as everything gets back to normal, you will both face the consequences of your actions."

"I am completely aware of it," Odin stated. "But it doesn't mean I'm giving up on Charlotte!"

Meanwhile, they went to the shore and sat on the sand to converse while having a bonfire. It was like a vacation for the three strangers who met at the wrong place at the wrong time. Charlotte was seated beside Arya, while Ammon was seated across from her. His gaze was fixed on Arya's crossbows.

"So, can you tell me how you became so obsessed with Ammon?" Charlotte asked out of curiosity.

"I guess it makes no sense to bring up the past, and it's odd that two warrioresses who fell in love with the same warrior met in a place like this, but this is a world full of surprises!"

"Yes, it is a great place, which is why I enjoy living and seeing the outside world; if I hadn't met Ammon, I wouldn't be here right now; he saved my life!"

"Ammon is a kind warrior. I respect his bold nature and started having a crush on him when we were young. When he vanished, I thought my life was useless. Fortunately, I met another warrior who changed my life. Well, I realized attaching yourself to someone is just temporary."

"So how long have you been obsessed with him?" She asked again, determined to know anything about Ammon's past.

"I can't tell you the length of time; it was burned into my memory."

"Well, I guess he was picky in terms of finding a significant other. However, giving up is not an option either. I have to win the heart of the pickiest warrior."

Arya wondered. "And why do you say that?"

"Because we are not a couple yet!" denied Charlotte. "He did not even try kissing me once, so I doubt if he really wants me!"

"Of course he does! Ammon has respect for women. Honestly speaking, we talked last time before the werewolves attempted to kill him!"

Charlotte leaned forward as she got more interested in hearing Arya. "Can you elaborate on that?"

Arya grimaced as she crossed her arms across her chest. "You're unlucky! I already forgot most of the conversation, but the only thing I could remember was that he had already found his significant other. Although he did not say any name!"

Odin interrupted their conversation. "You have a really nice crossbow, Arya. I haven't seen anything like this on the Alabama market; it's very unique!" he said in amazement.

Arya exhaled a sigh. "That crossbow, along with the rest of the Amazonian weapons, were made in the kingdom of King Abaddon, and we enhanced them with the potion from the kingdom of King Solomon. That is the main reason why we were able to defeat the dark Phoenix and the werewolf clan."

"I see. I think you should get some weapons from them if that's still possible!"

"I'm afraid we can't do that. As you see, we are not associated with King Abaddon or any of his alliances anymore. We served King Bartholomeo and pledged to protect his kingdom."

"How did he find you in the first place?"

"There is no need for you to know that, as long as we share common enemies, Amazonians will undoubtedly act as a shield."

"I am sure that King Bartholomeo will give you plenty of rewards after you succeed in your mission!"

"Don't make me laugh; even us can't hold a candle to King Abaddon. He is the mightiest creature we have encountered so far. Okay, the topic is getting far beyond what I could imagine." Arya turned her gaze at Charlotte. "You can sleep now, and we will guard you! But before anything else, I have some strict reminders you need to follow: First, try to stay alert, even when you are sleeping. The enemies can somewhat hide their appearance and presence, so you need to be more cautious. Secondly, hold your katana while you're sleeping. Last but not least, run if the situation becomes more complicated."

"How about the two of you?"

"Did you listen to a word I say before? We already accepted our faith. Dying on the battlefield is an honor for any brave warrior, and our families are aware of that. You still have to live your life to the fullest, so just run for your life. The best place to hide in Elshor is in the forest. Try to hide in any cave that you see or hide under the river once the enemy tries to chase you. Those are the only options for you to survive."

"Now, this is the survival of the fittest. One wrong mistake and you'll die," said Odin. "Even animals have the same rule. The weak died in the hands of the strongest. But those who have the best defense also have a good offense. Therefore, try to outsmart your enemies!"

"How about you, Odin? I wonder if you become an animal, for sure you will become the weakest one!" mocked Arya.

"Do not try to underestimate me, Amazonian, remember that without my help, you wouldn't have defeated those werewolves trying to kill us earlier. I may not be a great warrior like you, but I relied on my strategy and skills in order to survive my life."

"Well, if I ever encountered another werewolf, I wouldn't escape and would face them with courage. Ammon thought me about that," uttered Charlotte. "I have learned so much from him during his training, and now is the perfect time to apply them."

"You see? Ammon did nothing except to become a good role model to you, Charlotte, and look what you did!"

"Can you not say what just happened earlier to him."

"Out of the question! I am not fond of keeping secrets, so just shut up your f*cking mouth, Odin. You will be punished, and Ammon will surely get angry and kick Charlotte out of his house when he finds out about your betrayal. So prepare yourselves!"

"But before anything else, could you please train us some techniques of the Amazonians? I am getting interested in knowing your skills," said Odin to Arya.

"No, we have a strict rule in our tribe that our techniques and strategies in fighting will only be passed down to the next Amazonians."

"That's unjust, but if it's good with you, let me join the Amazonians!"

"You're even more delusory than I anticipated. Amazonians are just warrioresses, and we despise having warriors in our tribe, Odin."

Odin yelled at Arya. "That is insane. We are fighting a common enemy, don't you know?"

"You have to respect their rules, Odin!" uttered Charlotte. "Why don't you join the zodiac warriors instead?"

"Zodiac warriors should have twelve members because each one represents a different Zodiac sign. For example, Ammon represents the Taurus sign and has the special ability to make his body tough; the same goes for the rest of them, and they should be ruled by Prince Arthur, the 13th Zodiac warrior," Arya explained.

Arya sensed werewolves coming into their area. She took the crossbow from Odin's hands and warned both him and Charlotte about the dangerous enemies she spotted.

"There are werewolves coming this way, I can hear their heavy footsteps on the ground. Stay alert and try to remain close to me!"

"This is getting annoying. Only if you hadn't come to this place, none of those f*cking creatures would appear!"

"Stop blaming her, Odin! Arya is a very strong Amazonian, and I feel safe with her!"

Suddenly five alpha werewolves appear, and their reddish eyes look terrifying. One of them spoke up, and his deep voice made Charlotte shake in fear.

"All of you shall die here and now! King Abaddon wanted us to get rid of the pests!"

"You are the one who will die," Arya remarked. She shot him in the head with her crossbow. The werewolf, on the other hand, was still alive and flung the bow to the ground. His wounds healed without him touching it.

Arya was surprised by what happened. She could not imagine that her specialized weapon was not effective. "This is bad, they're different from what we've faced before!"

"How can they heal their wounds?"

"Stupid creatures, we are high-level alpha werewolves, and the full moon enabled us to regenerate severe wounds. It takes more than three of you to beat one of us!"

"Odin, run with Charlotte and hide somewhere safe. I am going to take them all by myself!"

"No, we are all on this together. None of us should die!" said Charlotte who sounded so concerned.

"There is nothing to worry about," Arya said, gazing at Charlotte. "I am not going to die. Remember, Ammon needs to know that you are cheating on him. If I die, you will keep on fooling him!"

"I guarantee I won't cheat again!"

Odin carried Charlotte on his shoulder and ran away. Whereas, Arya fought the enemies alone.
