Chapter 27

Elizabeth Summers’ POV
Jasper and I have got into a bit of a routine over the last couple of weeks. We would spend almost all of our time together. We spent all our free periods and our lunches together. Even when we had to be apart, we were never very far away from each other. I watched his games, he watched over me in class and we hung around with each other's friends. Then we spent our evenings together watching tv shows and kissing each other until we fell asleep in each other's arms.
He didn’t push me to take our relationship further or let him mark me. I could tell that it was difficult for him and his wolf but he didn’t talk about it unless I specifically asked. He had even managed to persuade his parents not to mention him marking me when I was around. Of course they still talked about it a lot behind my back when they thought I wasn’t listening.
They were upset about my reluctance and they only seemed to get more upset as time went on but I didn’t really understand it. Jasper seemed to be completely in control of his wolf so why were they so worked up about all of this? It didn’t make sense when they claimed to only be worried about Jasper’s wolf.
“What are you worrying about?” Jasper asked.
“I’m not worried,” I replied.
“That’s not true. I can feel your emotions through our bond now, I know when you are worried.” Jasper said.
That was new. I didn’t think you could feel your mates emotions until they were marked. Maybe I was wrong, I didn’t have anyone to talk about this to after all but he had never mentioned it to me before.
“I didn’t know you could feel my emotions,” I exclaimed. My voice was high pitched, I guess he didn’t need to be able to read my emotions to tell how shocked I was.
“Our bond gets stronger the more time I spend with you. I have been able to feel your emotions for about a week,” He replied.
He sounded incredibly calm, I wish I could say the same thing about myself. A chill was slowly creeping up my spine. He had been sensing my emotions and I didn’t know anything about it. I hope I hadn’t done anything to upset him during that time, I certainly didn’t want to hurt him.
I love him.
Oh my goddess, I love him. What do I do now? I needed to do something to distract myself before I blurted it out randomly.
“We should start getting ready. We are meant to be at Oliver’s house in an hour,” I said.
The party wasn’t meant to start for another three hours but we made a promise. Oliver was excited about being the centre of attention for once and he accidently (on purpose) invited half of the school.
He was loving the attention until the sheer scale of the party hit him and he started to panic at school yesterday afternoon. That was when Patti, Jasper and I agreed to help him prepare for the party. We told him we would hide anything valuable and set out the drinks his brother was bringing over for the party.
“Can’t we just stay home instead?” Jasper pouted.
Jasper’s arms were around my waist. He sat down on the edge of the bed and pulled me down on top of him. He kissed my lips then slowly peppered kisses along my cheek towards my neck.
“I wish we could but we have to make sure Patti doesn't do something stupid,” I replied.
“I think Adam can protect himself from a human,” Jasper replied, his warm breath tickling my neck.
“Can he? Then why does he always look so terrified around her?” I asked.
Patti’s crush on Adam didn’t seem to be going anywhere and Adam didn’t have the heart to tell her to leave him alone. He had been spending more time with me recently and that meant spending more time with my friends too. Patti seemed to take this as an indication that he had feelings for her.
Till now she hadn’t done much about her feelings, she had just flirted with him and asked him lots of questions. That was going to change tonight. She told me that she was planning to make her move on him tonight after they had both had a few drinks.
I knew this was going to end terribly but there was nothing I could do to stop it. I just had to make sure I was there when that happened to pick up the pieces.
“Maybe you are right. Adam is pretty naive when it comes to women, I don’t think he has ever been in a relationship.” Jasper said, giggling slightly.
I flinched at his words. Adam was like me and Jasper seemed to be mocking him, that didn’t seem right to me. What was so wrong about waiting for your mate? I respected Adam’s position. He knew he had a mate out there somewhere and he wasn’t going to settle for the first woman to throw themselves at him.
I placed my hands on his chest and pushed myself to my feet. Jasper tried to keep me in his arms but I pushed him away harder until I was free of his grasp. He let out a whimper as his arms left my waist.
“Is that funny to you?” I shouted.
“Of course not. What’s wrong baby?” He put his hands in mine and brought them up to his lips.
“I don’t like that you are mocking Adam for his naivety,” I grumbled. “It feels like you are mocking me too.” I added so quietly that my voice was barely above a whisper.
“Neither of those statements are true. I would love you no matter what your sexual history was and I would never mock you.” He wrapped one arm around my waist and placed one hand on the back of my head, pulling me against him.
“I love you too,” I whispered.
“What did you say?” He asked.
I didn’t need to be able to read Jasper’s emotions to know just how happy he was. I could feel my cheeks heating up, maybe I shouldn’t have told him that.
“Nothing,” I replied.
“Liar,” he giggled.
He picked me up and spun around, throwing me onto the bed. I squealed in surprise as my body hit the mattress. Jasper let out a soft growl then jumped on the bed, covering my body with his.
“Are you going to tell me what you said,” He asked.
“No,” I replied, shaking my head vigorously.
His fingers moved to my armpits and he started tickling me. I tried to wriggle out of his grasp but his body had me pinned and every move I made made him tickle me more. I screamed and shrieked at him to stop but he was relentless.
After a few seconds Jasper stopped his onslaught. My breathing was heavy and it took a few moments for it to return to normal. Jasper leaned forward so that his lips were brushing against my ear lobe.
“Are you going to tell me now or do you want some more?” He asked.
“I said that I love you,” I replied.
Jasper leaned back and looked into my eyes as a huge grin spread across his face. He had been telling me how much he loved me for weeks and up till now I had refused to say it back to him. I wanted those words to mean something and I refused to say them until I knew I really meant them. I didn’t know how strongly he would react.
He pressed his lips against mine and kissed me passionately. It was different from the other kisses we had shared, it was more intense and needy. I ran my fingers through his hair and down his back. He ran his tongue across my lips then into my mouth, exploring every corner of my mouth.
I felt his hand stroking my cheek and neck as his teeth nipped at my lower lip. Something told me his wolf was close to the surface and he wanted to mark me. I pushed him away, breaking our kiss.
“We really should get ready,” I said.
