Chapter 50

Elizabeth Summers’ POV
If I thought Michael was annoying before he realised his ex-mate was here then I was mistaken. I clearly had no concept of how annoying Michael was capable of being. He was still following us around everywhere but now he was bringing a reluctant Sasha along with him. He kept one hand on her at all times even though it was clear to everyone else that his touch repulsed her.
“Michael, please let go of me, I have to help with breakfast.” Sasha objected as Michael tried to pull her with him into the dinning room.
“No, you aren’t an omega anymore. You are my luna.” Michal pulled her over to the dining table and sat her down beside him. He wrapped his arm around her shoulders and placed a kiss on her cheek. Sasha responded by shuddering and trying to put some distance between the two of them, I wasn’t sure if it was from fear or disgust. Other omegas were now flooding into the room, bringing everything that we would need for breakfast with them.
“I’m not worthy of being your luna. There are so many other women who are much prettier and stronger than I am. One of them will be your mate.”
Sasha’s voice held no emotion as she spoke and I had a feeling that the words she said had significance. They were probably the words he used before he rejected her. Michael must have recognised her words because the smile dropped from his face. He leaned closer to her, stroking her fingers along her cheek.
“You already are my luna. In a few days I will take you home and claim you in front of my whole pack.” He told her before leaning in and kissing the top of her head. Sasha tried to ignore his kisses while taking her time to pour herself some coffee. Once she had finished she started to fill her plate with food.
“I think I will pass on the claiming part. You already humiliated me in front of the whole pack, telling them that you now accept me doesn’t change what happened to me.” She continued to fill her plate with food as she spoke, not even glancing in Michael’s direction.
Sasha had told me over mindlink what Michael did to her and I had to agree with her, his gesture would not be enough to undo what he did. She first met him when she delivered some parcels to their pack on behalf of Jasper’s father. The alpha wasn’t there when she arrived but Michael and his friends were.
One of his female friends was touching his arm which caused Sasha to growl. Michael responded by laughing at her before mocking her horribly. Once he was done he rejected her, sending her running back to her car, crying. After that I am sure that she didn’t want to set foot in that pack ever again.
“If you need me to get on my knees and beg for forgiveness in front of every single member of my pack then I will do just that.” Michael picked up a piece of toast from Sasha’s plate and tried to feed it to her. She was reluctant to take it from him at first but eventually she relented and accepted the food from him.
The rest of us started to fill our own plates mostly in silence which gave me plenty of time to think about things. When Michael first started following his mate around like a shadow I was quietly thrilled. I didn’t think she would ever accept him but even so, I thought that him accepting her would mean he would leave Jasper and I alone.
I was wrong. He still wanted me and Jasper to come with him to his pack and in a few days time. He claimed that his father would never accept an omega mate for him, that he would still need me to bear his children but I was suspicious. I had a feeling that he only wanted to take us with him so that he could make our lives miserable.
It didn’t matter what his reasons were. The only thing that mattered was us escaping from him. We only had to put up with him for a couple more days and then we would be gone. Nico had been making all the arrangements and relaying them to us using mindlink. The only thing left to decide was how to get away from Michael for long enough to make our escape.
‘Maybe Sasha could help with that.’ Hazel suggested.
I glanced over at Michael and Sasha, he was quietly feeding her breakfast. Although she didn’t seem particularly comfortable in his embrace she was still accepting it and the food without putting up too much of a fight about it. I was no longer certain that she was planning to keep up her rejection of him. It had only been a day or so since Michael took back his rejection and it looked as though the bond was already starting to eat away at her resolve. I could no longer be sure that she wouldn’t tell Michael what our plans were and help him to stop us.
‘If she wants to accept him then she won’t want him to impregnate another woman.’ My wolf replied.
It seemed like a logical argument, I wouldn’t want another woman carrying Jasper’s baby even without the physical intimacy. Werewolves were much too possessive to deal with that kind of thing. Michael placed a forkful of bacon and eggs into Sasha’s mouth then kissed her neck as she chewed the food.
I picked up my own fork ready to eat but Jasper took it away from me. He pulled me onto his lap then started to feed me. I let out a sigh but I knew that there was no point trying to resist. Jasper had been feeling powerless to protect me since Michael arrived and he was overcompensating by being more loving towards me. Apparently seeing Michael feeding Sasha had given him a new idea or two.
‘Sasha, how do you feel about Michael?’ I asked her over mind link.
‘I want him to leave me alone. I went through so much pain after he rejected me, my life was only just starting to get better before he showed up to ruin it again.’
There was a sadness in her eyes as she spoke to me. Michael seemed unaware of this however, he was so wrapped up in feeding her that he seemed completely unaware of her feelings. The alternative was that he was a sociopath and lacked the ability to recognise her emotions entirely.
‘If I could help you get out of the pack and away from him, would you want that?’ I asked.
‘Yes please. I would be forever in your debt.’ She wiggled excitedly in her seat. I was momentarily filled with panic until I realised that Michael was so egotistical that he took her movements as enjoyment of his proximity. He nuzzled into her neck for a few seconds before loading the fork with more food for her.
I tentatively shared our escape plans with Sasha over mindlink while we continued to eat breakfast. I wasn’t completely convinced that we could trust her yet. So I made sure not to give her any specifics of when we were leaving or where we would be going.
‘Please take me with you. I need to get out of here, I don’t care if we end up sleeping in the woods without shelter. Anything would be better than this.’ She said, interrupting me before I could get through what I had to say.
‘It won’t be like that. We have some land and some buildings ready and waiting for us.’
The land and buildings belonged to a pack that got destroyed years ago. It was all pretty run down but with a little work it would be perfect for us. I just hoped that there wouldn’t be any skeletons on the ground when we got there, the thought made me shudder.
‘Oh my goddess that sounds perfect. Are you sure you want an omega like me in your new pack?’ I could hear the hesitation in her voice, she was terrified that I would say no and she would have to stay here with Michael.
‘Any omega who wants to come with us is welcome. Once we start our pack they will no longer be considered as omega but we are going to need your help. We can’t let Michael follow us. We need to get him away from us for a while.’ I told her.
At the moment our plan relied on us leaving in the middle of the night as it was the only time that we could get away from Michael. But that plan had its own issues. Leaving in the middle of the night would tie us into leaving on foot because so much traffic crossing the border would be suspicious. If we could somehow find a way to leave during the day then we could leave by car which would make things much simpler.
‘I have an idea. Just let me know when.’ The sadness had disappeared from her eyes and a smile started creeping over her face.
