Chapter 31
Elizabeth Summers’ POV
This was a terrible idea on Patti’s part. I knew Jasper had a past and I had accepted that but I didn’t need the gory details. Seeing him take drink after drink while I sat here with my first drink still in hand was embarrassing to say the least. I watched as he drank shots for all these sexual acts that I didn’t know how to even perform. I felt a little jealous and hopelessly naive. Why would he even want someone like me?
The only other person who wasn’t drinking was Adam and he looked even more sheepish than I did. I didn’t know what was going on with him at all. He was showing signs of being Patti’s mate even though he claimed they weren’t and now he couldn’t seem to take his eyes off her for one moment.
As we waited for Oliver to make his statement next Adam had his hand right beside Patti’s. He reached out with his fingers until they touched Patti’s. The sudden contact made her jump and withdraw her hand. Adam let out a soft whimper just as Oliver spoke again.
“I have never had a threesome.” Oliver said, looking at Bev as he spoke. Bev said a few swear words under her breath before downing her shot. She didn’t seem embarrassed to be the only one of us drinking but that might be because she was too busy glaring at Oliver to notice.
It was Bev’s turn to make a statement next, every one of us was waiting with bated breath to see what she would come up with next. I was sure that everyone else was finding this game fascinating but I was hating every second of it. I was dreading what I would find out about Jasper next so badly that I could feel my heart beating hard within my chest.
“I have never tied anyone up during sex,” Bev said. She looked at Jasper as she said it, waiting for him to pick up his glass and drink. I didn’t think they had ever been together so how did she know about his sexual history?
He picked up the glass and took his shot. All of a sudden I felt sick. I knew that Jasper slept around before we got together but I didn’t think the whole pack knew the extent of what he did. Now looking at the way that Bev was looking at him it was clear they knew more about it than I did. What must they think of me?
They can tell just by looking at me or smelling me that he hasn’t completed the mating process with me. I bet they all think it is because I am so ugly and weak that he doesn’t want to be with me forever even though I am his mate. Come to think of it, he doesn’t seem to have that much desire to be with me.
It was his parents that were trying to push us together, I think he likes spending time with me but that was probably just because of the bond. What if he was just using me to satiate his wolf until my own wolf woke up and he could reject me. That would probably make a lot more sense than him actually having feelings for me.
Jasper had already refilled his glass and he looked over at me. I looked away, hoping that he wouldn’t notice my internal conflict but clearly I wasn’t that lucky. He leaned over and brushed my hair behind my ear. He placed gentle kisses on my neck and ear.
“What’s wrong baby, I can feel your emotions, remember.” He whispered, sending chills down my spine. My heart and my body were screaming at me to forget my concerns and lean into his warm embrace but I knew better than to trust my feelings. That was the perfect way to get your heart broken.
I shook my head and tried to pull away from him but Jasper wasn’t going to let me go so easily. He pulled me towards him and lifted me onto his lap. Once I was sitting comfortably between his crossed legs he wrapped his arms tightly around me and started kissing me all over my neck, cheeks and jaw.
“Please tell me what’s wrong, I can’t make it better if I don’t know what it is.” He said. I was about to make some excuse about needing to talk to him in private but looking around me I could see that my friends had already left. I guess there was no point putting this off any longer. I took a deep breath.
“Are you just keeping me around until I turn eighteen a few days from now? Are you planning to reject me? Is that why you don’t seem bothered about marking me?” As the words left my mouth I could feel tears forming in my eyes. This sucks, I wasn’t meant to fall in love with him until I was sure he wasn’t going to leave me. Yet that is exactly what I did, like a complete fool.
Looking into Jasper’s eyes I could tell that he was fighting with his wolf for control. His eyes were flickering between their normal brown colour and the white irises of his omega wolf. After a few seconds he closed his eyes and placed his face against my neck, breathing in my scent deeply between kisses.
“I would mark you right this second if we weren’t both a little drunk. You have no idea how desperate I have been to mark you for the last few weeks.” He purred against my neck.
“Really? You don’t have to rush if you aren’t ready.” I told him. I was feeling a bit guilty. I didn’t want my outburst to be the reason he marked me, I wanted him to do it because he wanted to be with me.
“I can’t wait to make you mine and I am going to make it perfect for you. How about I take you out on a date tomorrow and I will mark you straight afterwards.” He leaned back and looked into my eyes with such intensity that it was impossible to question his motives.
“That sounds perfect,” I said. A huge smile spread across Jasper’s lips. He pulled me closer and pressed his lips firmly against mine. His lips were parted slightly so I ran my tongue along his lips for a second before slipping it into his mouth. Jasper moaned into my mouth and pulled me closer while I ran my tongue over his.
His body was already responding to my touch. I could feel his arousal pressing against me as I deepened our kiss. Maybe it was the alcohol running through my system but part of me wanted to take our kiss further. I adjusted myself so that I was facing him and moaned into his mouth.
“You two need to get a room,” Nico sniggered. That guy had the worst timing ever, couldn’t he see we were busy?
“Can’t you tell we were in the middle of something here?” Jasper growled.
“Oh I could tell alright, the whole fricking party could tell where this was heading.” He waved his hand in our direction. Now that I had come back to my senses I could see what Nico was talking about. I was sitting on Jasper’s lap so that my knees were on either side of his hips. As if that wasn’t bad enough, my skirt was riding up my thighs.
Heat rushed to my face, we must have looked to anyone around as though we were doing it right here in the middle of a crowded party. This was so embarrassing, how was I going to face my friends again after this? I tried to remove myself from Jasper’s lap but he was holding me so tightly that I didn’t get anywhere. He leaned forward and kissed the top of my head before adjusting me into a more modest position.
Nico had already sat down with us on the blanket and was pouring himself a drink. Seeing him joining us, some other members of the pack were also making their way over to sit with us. Soon we were sounded by members of our pack, most of them were in my year at school but they didn’t usually take the time to talk to me. Now they all wanted to be my friend.
Jasper sensed my awkwardness and held me firmly, whispering words of encouragement in my ear every so often. Our pack members had brought over bottles of a few different spirits when they joined us. They wanted us to drink with them and even though I wasn’t sure how much alcohol I would be able to handle I didn’t want to upset them.
As the evening progressed I could feel the alcohol starting to take effect. I felt more comfortable and I was laughing more frequently. Jasper was also feeling the effects of the alcohol. He didn’t normally laugh much around other pack members, he preferred to be seen as the strong brooding alpha. Right now he was giggling and nibbling on my neck.
“I bet someone is going to have a new mark on their neck by tomorrow.” One of the women sat nearby said as she nudged her friend in the side with her elbow. Everyone around us started giggling at her. Jasper removed his face from my neck and pointed his finger at the girl who made the comment.
“I will have you know, I have wanted to mark her for weeks but she is a lady,” he slurred. He went straight back to nibbling on my neck, not caring who was watching us.
“I think you might have had a bit too much to drink.” I said, trying to push him off me.
“No, you are just so darn tasty,” he growled. Another round of giggles passed through the pack members around me but this wasn’t funny. Just hearing Jasper’s voice was enough to tell me that his wolf was at least partially in charge. How much longer would it be before his eyes changed colour and everyone at the party found out his secret.
We needed to get out of here but I knew I wouldn’t be able to drag him out of here on my own. Grasping at straws I did the only thing I could think of to persuade him to leave. I leaned forward and whispered in his ear.
“Garnet, can you convince Jasper to take us home? I want some time alone with you.” I said as seductively as I could manage. My plan must have worked because a few seconds later Jasper got to his feet. He picked me up and threw me over his shoulder. The few humans dotted around the garden looked completely horrified but the werewolves present were all cheering. I had been embarrassed earlier but this was much, much worse.
