Chapter 36
Elizabeth Summers’ POV
Adam’s parents let us stay over at their house without question. Their house wasn’t as big as the alpha’s mansion but they still had plenty of space for us not to get in anyone’s way. They have four children and yet they still have two spare bedrooms in their house.
We were given the spare room closest to Adam’s bedroom, mainly because it was furthest away from the younger children. Adam’s father winked at me and nudged Jasper in the side with his elbow as he gave us that piece of information. I don’t think I have ever been so embarrassed in my life.
We spoke to Adam in his room for a while before heading to our room. I was so exhausted from the stress of earlier that I didn’t even have the energy to get changed into my bed clothes. Instead I crawled straight into bed and fell asleep almost as soon as my head hit the pillow.
The next thing I remember is waking up with the light from the windows filtering through the curtains. The aromas of coffee and bacon filled the air, making my stomach growl loudly. I hadn’t eaten dinner last night, almost getting forcibly marked had suppressed my appetite but it was back with a vengeance now.
Jasper was still fast asleep behind me. He was holding me so tightly that his body was pressed firmly against mine and his lips were almost touching the back of my neck. I couldn’t feel Jasper’s emotions the way he could feel mine but I could tell from the way he looked at me last night and the way he was holding me now just how guilty he was feeling. It was comforting to be held so securely but unfortunately I couldn’t stay here all day.
I was contemplating the best way to get out of his vice-like grip when there was a knock on the door. Jasper groaned and pulled me closer towards him, mumbling incoherently. The second knock was a little louder, causing Jasper to jump up from the bed. His eyes darted around the room, checking for threats.
“Breakfast will be ready in a few minutes.” Adam shouted through the door. Jasper’s muscles relaxed. He listened to the sound of Adam’s steps retreating down the corridor then he laid back down beside me, nuzzling into my shoulder. He was moaning softly as he enjoyed our proximity, maybe a little too much. I tried to wriggle out of his grasp but that only made his problem worse.
“Maybe we should get ready.” I suggested.
“We have a few minutes,” Jasper purred.
I spun around to face him. Wrapping one arm around his waist and placing the other on the back of his head, I claimed his lips with my own. Jasper responded by kissing me back passionately, his tongue ran along my lips and entered my mouth. I wrapped my leg around him and pulled his body towards mine. His body was so close to mine that I could feel his arousal pressing against me.
Feeling him like this made me feel excited and nervous at the same time. I had felt him a few times when we were making out and it always had the same effect on me. I wanted to touch him and do other things but I was worried that I would do something wrong. Jasper always seemed to sense my nervousness and take it as a sign that we should stop what we were doing.
It was very frustrating. I wish I had the confidence to take what I wanted but it wasn’t that easy. Typically for me the one time that I managed to work up the confidence was the same night that Jasper managed to drink too much and pass out. It is probably good for Jasper that I am not a superstitious person otherwise I might read more into that.
True to form, Jasper kissed my lips once more before getting out of bed to get ready for the day ahead. By the time that we went downstairs for breakfast Adam and his family were already sitting at the dining room table. We sat down at the table between Adam and his father and filled out plates with food.
Adam’s three younger siblings were sitting down at the other end of the table with Adam’s mother. She was feeding her youngest daughter who was around two, there was the slightest hint of a baby bump under her top. Jasper pulled me onto his lap, kissing my check.
“I can’t wait for us to have a large family like this,” he whispered in my ear. Heat rushed to my face, everyone was looking at me and smiling. As a luna or alpha I guess it would be expected for me to have children but it wasn’t something I had ever thought about. I never thought I would be accepted by my mate and as a result I didn’t dare to plan my life beyond the next six to twelve months. This was a lot to take in.
“Maybe you should wait until we finish highschool at least.” I suggested, trying to hide my embarrassment. Jasper’s arms tightened around me as he kissed my cheek and neck over and over again.
“You two are so adorable.” Adam’s mom said, while whipping food and drool from her youngest daughter's face.
“I have an idea about how to get my mate to forgive me,” Adam said. There was a huge smile plastered over his face, I don’t think I had even seen him this excited before. I really hoped that his plan worked out ok because they both deserved to be happy and I was sure they would make the cutest couple once they accepted each other.
“That’s good news son.” Adam's confidence grew at his father’s words of encouragement making him sit up in his chair a little straighter. I took a sip from the coffee cup in front of me as I watched their interactions. They seemed like a happy, close knit family even though Adam’s father had a high pressure job that kept him very busy.
His job wasn’t just to make sure the luna was safe but also to help the beta to keep the whole pack safe. The job was so demanding that most gamma’s lived with their alpha and luna. Adam’s father had followed that tradition until just seven years ago when they decided to move out to spend more time as a family. Adam’s mom was pregnant with their second child at the time. Since then their family has grown substantially.
“How are you going to seduce her?” Jasper asked. He loaded his fork with scrambled eggs and brought it to my mouth. I accepted the food without hesitation, Jasper seemed to love feeding me. It was nice even if he didn’t seem to know when to stop.
“Seduce is a terrible word, it implies that I am going to trick her into being with me.” Adam replied, he was smiling and looking off into the distance with a dreamy look on his face. Jasper raised his eyebrows in confusion.
“So what are you going to do?” He asked, as he continued to feed me breakfast. I shook my head and tried to tell him that I was full but he wasn’t listening to me. He just kept saying that I needed more food to help my wolf get stronger. I rolled my eyes, I was sure he was just trying to fatten me up.
“I am going to make her fall hopelessly in love with me.” Adam filled his mug with more coffee, his third cup in the short time we had been sitting there. Despite how confident he sounded I noticed that he hadn’t taken more than a couple of bites of his breakfast. If he wasn’t careful he wasn’t going to be able to stay still long enough to talk to Patti.
Throughout the rest of breakfast we tried everything to get Adam to tell us his plans but he wouldn’t give us any details. The only thing he would tell us was how perfect his plan was and in the end I had to confiscate the coffee mug from him. He was no longer able to sit still and I was sure that he was only one or two cups away from giving himself caffeine poisoning.
I was a little concerned about what Adam was planning. From the way he was talking it sounded as though it was some kind of gesture gesture. That wasn’t necessarily a bad thing but the problem was Adam had no experience with humans.
Human and werewolf dating techniques were so different. Humans seemed to like being given soft things like flowers and chocolates. Werewolves preferred to show their love in a more physical sense, usually involving biting or sex. I just hoped that he wasn’t planning to walk up to her at school and bite her, that would probably give her a mental breakdown.
