Chapter 418 Do You Really Not Love Matthew Anymore?
"It doesn't matter. You are so busy. You don't have to come here deliberately."
"Roseane, it was my regret that I wasn't able to repay you back then. Don't reject me now. At the very least, let me feel at ease, all right?"
Roseane rejected him a few more times, but Gellert insisted on coming over. Roseane had no choice but to agree.
"Well, I'll tell you when I settle down here."
"Okay, Roseane."
"Gellert, you don't have to be so polite with me all the time. I'm not much older than you. You'd better just call me by my name."
She always felt awkward listening to how he called her.
Even Xander had never called her that.
Gellert chuckled again. "Isn't that nice? You'll always be my dear Roseane."
"Uh, it sounds a little disgusting," Roseane said.
Gellert smiled as if he was very happy. "Well, I'll listen to you. Should I just call you Roseane?"
Roseane heaved a sigh of relief. "That's much better."
Roseane and Gellert chatted casually, but she didn't notice the expression on Matthew's face. He looked like he was about to kill someone.
Gellert talked to Roseane about the training class. Roseane didn't think too much about it and continued to talk about it. However, before Roseane could tell Gellert the suitable places for training in town, a hand reached out.
"What are you doing?"
Roseane watched helplessly as Matthew snatched her phone away and hung up the phone. He even turned her phone off, which enraged her.
However, Matthew put the phone in his pocket and pointed to Mariam and Owen, who were not far away.
"Your mom needs a good rest after being examined by the doctor. You talked too loudly, and it might disturb her."
Roseane turned around to take a look, and her expression softened a little.
"But you can't just hang up the call for me. Give me back my phone."
"No." Matthew refused. Afraid that Roseane would snatch it from him, he deliberately closed his eyes and said, "I also want to take a rest. Don't disturb me."
"You..."
"Shh."
Roseane wanted to hit him, but it was quiet in the car. Oliver frowned and looked in their direction. Then she gave up.
"Give me back my phone when we get to Krine," she said in a low voice.
Matthew pretended not to hear her and continued to sleep with his eyes closed.
"Did you hear that?" Roseane bumped his arm.
Matthew changed his position and turned his head away, ignoring her.
Roseane was extremely pissed off. Why didn't she realize that Matthew was so mean before?
Roseane knew that he was pretending not to hear her, so she lowered her voice and said, "When we get back to Krine, you and I will go to the Civil Affairs Bureau to get our divorce certificates. We will go our own ways by then."
'Do you think I'll let that happen?'
'After the divorce, do you think you can do whatever you want with Gellert? Dream on.'
Matthew said in his heart, 'I'll hide the marriage certificate and the household registration permit when I'm back. I won't divorce you no matter what."
After a long time, Roseane was tired. She got up and finally sat down in the empty seat behind Mariam.
Silence was restored in the car.
It took about three hours to drive back to Krine from the town.
Roseane wanted to find a quiet corner to think about something, but she did not expect that she would gradually fall asleep.
When she opened her eyes again, it was dark. She was lying on a hospital bed, covered with a thin quilt.
Shocked, she suddenly lifted the quilt and sat up.
Looking around, she found that it was an extremely spacious ward.
Opposite the bed she was lying on was her mother's bed.
"You're awake." Mariam was sitting on the bed and resting. When she saw her get up, she quickly looked over with a smile.
"Mom, why am I asleep? Where are we? Have we arrived in Krine?"
She looked around and did not see Oliver and Xander.
"We're already in Krine. This is the private ward Mr. Valerntine arranged for us. You fell asleep in the car just now, so we didn't wake you up. You've been busy raising money and looking for jobs these two days, so you certainly didn't have a good rest."
"Mr. Valentine... is it Matthew?"
"No, it's another Mr. Valentine, Beau."
Roseane's heart relaxed. For some reason, she felt a little disappointed.
"Where are dad and Xander?"
"Your dad went to buy food, and Matthew asked Xander to leave with him."
Roseane frowned. "Why did Matthew ask Xander to leave with him?"
"He said that he rented a house near the hospital and took Xander there so that he could be familiarized with that area. I will have to stay in the hospital for a while for the observation after the operation. He can't let you sleep in the hospital for so long."
Roseane was a little annoyed. "We can also stay at the hotel."
"How much money do you have to stay in a hotel? Besides, you used to be a star. It's not very convenient for you to stay in a hotel."
Mariam scolded Roseane for a while and then stopped talking.
She touched her pocket and didn't get what she wanted. She asked, "Where's my phone? Did Matthew give it back to me?"
Mariam asked, "What phone?"
Roseane secretly scolded Matthew for being shameless, but on the surface, she said, "It's nothing. When dad comes back, I'll ask Eliza about it. Mom, how are you feeling now?"
Mariam smiled weakly. "I'm fine. Mr. John presrcibed me some medicine. I feel much better after taking it."
In other words, she was actually very uncomfortable when she was in the hospital in the town.
But she didn't say anything because she did not want them to worry about her.
Roseane's eyes instantly turned red. "Mom, it's all my fault. If I were a little more useful, you wouldn't have suffered so much."
"Silly child, what are you talking about? You are already very great. I never dreamed that my daughter could become such a famous star one day."
As Mariam spoke, tears began to flow down her face.
"It's all because of me and your dad. We are useless and we failed to give you a better family background, which has made you suffer a lot."
Roseane shook her head as she cried. No, it was not like this.
Although her family's conditions were not as good as that of rich people, her parents had always been very kind to her. They would try their best to satisfy her and give her a lot of love.
"Roseane, tell me the truth. Do you really not love Matthew anymore?"
Roseane raised her head in tears and looked at her sickly mother.
She did not know when her mother's face had been covered with wrinkles. The illness had been torturing her, making her look much older. The only thing that remained unchanged was the loving look in her mother's eyes when she looked at her.
Roseane sniffed and shook her head.
"Mom, it's not that I don't love him, it's that I... don't deserve to be with him."
Her love for Matthew was not something that could be taken back as she liked.
After all, she had been in love with him for so many years. No matter how cruel she sounded, she was still clear with her own feelings.
But as she had just said, she and Matthew were not from the same world. She did not deserve him.
In the past, she could rely on her own courage to stay by Matthew's side no matter what.
However, what had happened to Kezia made her realize that there was a huge chasm between her and Matthew.
She could not continue to deceive herself. The only thing she could do was to stay away from him.
