Chapter Ten
BLAIR'S POV
“I have to go now before someone finds a fault in me sitting here with you,” I said, and Marcus smiled. “We'll talk later.” He said, as I waved him goodbye and left the room. I had nothing to do and it's been a long while since I went on a hunt with my wolf. I was hungry, but I was afraid I would get sanctioned by Olivia if I left the house. But, It's been a while since I surveyed the outside wall so I decided to sneak out.
Going through the back door at the end of the mansion, I headed towards the forest nearest to the house.
I started noticing the scent of the rabbits in the forest and not only was I excited to hunt but my wolf was as well. I went into the forest and started hunting until I started picking up several thick scents. “I wouldn't be the only one hunting in this large forest in the first place.” I thought, and I didn't panic but after a while the scent became thicker and their presence was closer to where I was I felt like they were hunting me instead their scent was different from those of wolves the closer they were the more distinct the scent got.
I started moving backwards but I felt they were following me so I decided to provoke them so I would know where they were. “Come out, I know you're there.” I said, but I got no response from them, at this point I was really scared and I didn't know what to do, “what if they are waiting for me to run so they could do something to me?’ I thought to myself, as I refrained from running and only made casual steps backing up away from all the points where I felt their scent.
“Where are you going? You're surrounded.” I heard a cold thick voice say, and I shuddered in fear, “Who are you?” I asked, trying not to show them how scared I was. “We are hunters just like you.” He replied, “Then why are you surrounding me? What have I done? There are many animals for everyone to hunt and feel happy.” I said, but they laughed at me, “You don't understand, we don't hunt animals, we hunt werewolves like you.” He said, and my heart started beating very fast.
“You do what?” I asked, “We hunt werewolves, that's who we are.” He said, and my fear increased, I started moving backward, I knew I was weak and my wolf was weak too if I were to fight I'd be taken down easily, but I was fast I could make it if I tried to run away so I immediately changed into my wolf form and made a run for it, but I felt something pierce my skin and my strength started to weaken my body wolf form started to weaken until it disappeared and I was feeling really sleepy “what have you guys done to me?” I said softly but I couldn't say more as my eyes closed and fell unconscious.
LUTHER'S POV
“It's been three days since I set my eyes on Blair, where is she?” I asked Olivia. “I haven't seen her too and why are you asking me that as if I had done something to her?” She replied, “What do you mean? You're the one in charge of the house and a slave of mine is missing and you don't even know?” I replied, “Since when have you been so concerned about a common slave, that you're raising your voice at me because of it?” She replied and it made me furious.
“What exactly do you mean? She's been here for days and we both know the circumstances that brought her here, if her clan knows she's missing they'll revolt and you know I don't want any war at this point. It's a treaty we signed when I took over their clan and you're talking as if you don't know.” I replied, furiously. “All that isn't my concern and I don't know where your useless slave is, and I don't want to know. She's your property and yours alone, not mine.” She said, and I felt pain in my heart, why's she like this at this point in time? “ You can ask Marcus though. I saw him with her a few days ago, probably four days ago, talking and hugging.
Probably he created a platform for her to escape your clutches or a platform for them to be able to be together and continue their love life.” Olivia said.
“And why would you think Marcus would do that? He knows the deal on her and he won't dare lay his hands on her, and up to the point of allowing her escape? You must be joking. Stop all these and help me make efforts at finding her.” I said, shutting off all her accusations.
“You really want to believe someone who killed all his family over me who's been by your side all these years? I saw him hugging her and talking to her four days ago. I stood there and listened for several minutes before he noticed and I had to run away so he wouldn't know I was spying on him. What if he was the one who told her to escape? What would you do then?” Olivia said, and I couldn't help but think of it.
There wasn't a time I told Olivia about the story of Marcus but how did she know, what exactly was going on and what do I do? I can't lose Blair or else my authority would be distorted. What could have happened to her? All these thoughts clouded my mind and I couldn't help it as I stormed off towards where Marcus was.
But what do I say to him? He was my guest. If it wasn't true then the relationship between Marcus and I would be distorted as allies and I would risk fighting a war with one of the most reliable allies I've ever had. What should I do?
