Chapter Twenty-Six

“Luther!!” she shouted, crying. I lost all the strong-headed fool vibe I was trying to form, and I ended up loosening up as I ran towards her too, to give her a hug. “You're fine now,” I said, reassuring her. “Hope they didn't do anything to you?” I asked, and tears welled up in her eyes. “They tied me and punished me for several days. They asked me to spit out the clan you were from. They even threatened me with a hot iron near my thighs. I cried for help for several days, but no one came to save me. But I thank God you're here now,” she said.

“I'm sorry I couldn't come sooner, I'm sorry I wasn't able to be there for you all through those rough periods, and I'm sorry it took me this period of time to resolve it. Now we can run away from here and start the life we would have loved to live. I have a confession to make too,” I said.

“What confession is that?” she asked. “I think I'm in love with you,” I said. “Think or you are?” she asked. “I am in love with you. I didn't know before, but now I'm sure I do. I thought about it several times for days. I cared about you so much; I couldn't stop thinking about you. Even when I was on the verge of death, your name still popped up in my head. I was certain I had fallen in love with you. I really lost a lot of my wits, and when I saw him touch you the other day, I vowed I would end him, and that was why I did what I did. You give me strength; now I know why our wolves picked us to be mates, and now I really want to do right by you and fight with you through everything that would happen now or in the future,” I said, and I could feel the tears coming again.

She was really a good crier. And now back to what we were doing. I was about to kiss my bride-to-be when someone came back. “We're all waiting for you… let's go,” he said, and I took her hands and walked as we moved to where Delta was made to kneel down. “Dear friend, I'm sorry, but I can't save you. You've really restricted the airflow of this blissful community and turned it into a place of hatred and a sanctuary of death. But right now, I want you gone out of life, and that is why I would allow them to kill you.

You don't deserve to live,” I said, and he was shaking as if he was asking for mercy, but it was still too late for him. He had lost everything he ought to have gotten, and he was not in the space to get them back. And then, before I knew it, someone had pierced his heart, and blood gushed out of his body while they all screamed in joy.

At that moment, I knew they all respected me. After a while, I was about to leave when the remaining captains approached me and told me to come and help them. They needed to restore their society; they didn't have anywhere to live, and they needed my help.

They would dedicate me as their leader and would make me feel happy, they promised me the full support of the remaining people. I told them to give me some time to think about it, but they said they didn't have the time, and the town would become a lawless town if they didn't find a leader, and everyone would end up killing one another, and that was what I knew would happen. So I decided to take up as the leader of the city and help them rebuild.

But first, I would fulfill my rites and get married to Brielle; she's the one I did all of these for, and she deserved the best I could give her. That was why I would try my best to make her feel happy no matter what happens. I was really happy that this phase had ended, and we didn't have too many complications, and as it was the first grand wedding, and to celebrate our victory, they started preparing for a grand celebration the next day.

They wanted it to be so big, but how do we get food supplies? they asked. There was no celebration without the appropriate amount of food. But there was one more secret no one knew, even the captain didn't know. I just couldn't abandon these people that way, so I made a plan to drop all the food in a tunnel and only burn barns, and that tunnel was a channel that led through the inventory. I had worked hand in hand with someone I met over a drink, and he turned out to be the honest one. I was glad I didn't make him take the fall for the fire.

And here we are with food and enough drinks too to celebrate my wedding, and everyone would end up so happy that it would make them feel the way they should. So I was this smart; all I knew about was war, but now I knew something different. I knew how to act faster and think efficiently at the same time. Now I had everything; I was a ruler once again, and the love of my life beside me; nothing could possibly go wrong again.

Thanks to everything I had done, I had respect too, and now I could go back to my clan and apologize to them without them having to try to kill me. That was the biggest aim I had for myself, and thank God I could fulfill it.
