Chapter Twenty-Seven
The wedding preparation was done, and everyone was ready to start the celebration. I was dressed up in a regal attire that was made for me, and Brielle was looking astonishing, her gown shining, with her face looking very radiant and glowing.
"Oh my love, you look so beautiful," I said, complimenting her as we walked out of the room together. I was feeling ecstatic, and I didn't know how to express how she felt.
**BRIELLE'S POV**
The turn of events from almost getting killed to living in a foreign land, getting married to a stranger, getting back with the man who had rescued me, and now getting married to him, was so crazy that words couldn't express how I felt.
But Luther had this feeling on me; I was almost losing my mind. My wolf chose him, and now we were getting together. It felt like the curse that ravaged me was gone, and this was what I had to do to make my life feel the way I wanted it to be. "Father, I'm finally getting everything that you told me I would get.
Thanks for looking after me. I just hope nothing goes wrong now." I had prayed, and now all that was left was getting me to the altar and having my hand in marriage. Everything that I had was set, and we had walked out to the people, I almost got the ring when there was a huge sound coming from the gate.
"What was that?" someone shouted. "It's coming from the gate," someone responded. What could be coming from the gate? Everyone was present at the wedding; nobody thought anything was going to go wrong, so what could be happening? But the sight that welcomed us was one I didn't even remember.
“Tau?” Luther said as he approached where the wedding was happening. “Cousin, what are you doing here? We've been looking for you for so long. So this is where you are?” He said. “How did you find us here? I never thought anyone could find us here.” It felt more like a reunion as the conversation went on and on. Everyone was happy and calm at the same time.
“So what's happening? The occasion? Why's everywhere buzzing and looking yummy?” Tau said, and Luther laughed. “It's my wedding,” he said. “Oh, so you're getting married. Thank God that the devil is out of your life. Now you're free. So who's the lucky woman?” He said. “Brielle, of course. Who else would it be?” Luther replied, jokingly. “What do you mean which Brielle?” Tau asked with seriousness in his tone. I was wondering where the conversation was heading, and my heart started beating very fast.
“What do you mean which Brielle, the same Brielle, you know, of course, my former maid?” And Tau turned away from Luther and faced me. "Please tell me he's lying," he said, and I didn't know how to reply. I went mute for some seconds before replying, “He's speaking the truth.”
"What??? Why would you marry someone who maltreated you? I was there for you all through, and you want to end up with this hoodlum who doesn't even treat you as a human? Is that who you really want to end up with? Do you even know how many humans this devil has killed? Brielle, don't do this to yourself. Let him go and just stay on your own,” Tau said, and I almost went crazy. I had to support Luther; he had done a lot for me, and I wouldn't allow him to be downgraded this way in front of people who respected him so much.
“When I was about to be beheaded, where were you? And when he saved all the people here from the tyrant that ruled over them, where were you? He's been with me through the rough times too, and I'm going to end up being with him, so please let me just get married in peace,” I said, but I guessed he had another plan.
“This is why I wouldn't let you marry him,” Tau said. “I knew of everything you guys planned from the start. You all think you won, but I let you win on purpose so I could quench your ego. If only your beloved Luther could remember when Delta brought a package to someone, I was the one receiving it. Now I'm here to take back everything; everyone here is my slave, and they belong to me,” he said. “Does this even make sense? How many of you were ruling, and why would you let me kill all your pawns before you revealed you were the king?” Luther said.
“Ha ha ha, why would I? Those pawns were useless to me. I had an army that could restrain all of you here, and that's my main unit. Everything I had gathered with you guys here was merely to complement what I had worked on and structured already. And Brielle belongs to me; seize her,” he said, and I was captured.
This was the height of it. It was all going berserk again, but I was used to it. Maybe I shouldn't have prayed; maybe it would have gone a lot better if I never prayed about it. The goddess was only a loser who tried to call me a loser by making me lose all over again. A traitor who depicted her worshippers as a traitor. Have I not suffered enough? I don't believe in beauty and pretty life anymore.
I'm going to make sure I wouldn't wait for anyone to take my life this time; I would rather take my life myself and end this curse and let the people who love me have their peace. That way, everyone wins, and I'll lose. I'm sorry to anyone I'm going to hurt with this. Maybe this will be the best form of good thing I'll do. I just had to have the time bomb tick and end it all.
