Chapter Eleven

My world was in turmoil, and my heart was in disarray, “Marcus have you seen Blair?” I asked, with anxiety laced in my voice. “I haven't seen Blair in days, I thought she was running errands for you? That was why she had no chance to rest.” He replied.

“But Olivia said she saw you with her four days ago and since then she hasn't seen her again?” I said, “Yeah, we talked for some minutes on that day and she left because she had the stuff to do and since then she hasn't shown her face around me, I haven't seen her at all.” Marcus replied, “Where in the world would she be?” I thought as I picked a few loyal men of mine and dispatched them into the street.

A few hours later one of them came back. “I have gotten some information regarding a crucial issue, my lord.” He said, “Go on” I replied, “The consequent issue about the werewolf hunter had reached our pack and multiple maidens have been taken away, no one knows who they are or what they are but the whole pack is in turmoil and everyone is restless.” He replied, “Since when has this been going on?” I asked, “My lord it's been since last week, and over theory maidens have been taken away, not killed but they disappear without a trace.” He said, “Why did I get no reports since then? What have the elders been doing? Get them for me?”

I ordered and he disappeared away from where I was. “What exactly is happening? I've never recorded a loss in defeat, nor is there anyone who has tried to invade my land so why is all this happening now? Is this because of the Ill-fated being in my pack now? Is the moon's goddess angry at me for not picking her as my mate or because she's punishing me because I'm not fulfilling her wish of killing the Ill-fated girl? All these thoughts made me feel concerned and I was very lost about what to do. I stood up and waited for the elders of the pack to arrive.

After they arrived we started the meeting and it was Elder Taki who talked first “My lord, our pack had been very peaceful and your reign has seen us go to greater strength this event is something that hasn't happened before and we didn't inform you because we felt we could handle it but now it's getting out of hand, they take our maidens while hunting, while bathing, while running errands and there are no traces of them we are confused and we were already planning to come to you for a solution.”

“Why didn't you come earlier? But before that, what do you think it's the problem?” I asked, and Elder Sam replied: “We all know here that our pack had been peaceful up until the nefarious fated one came to our midst, it's not been a rumor but reality that she had caused many of her clan's deaths and Zoran who was powerful too went down on his contact with her and here we are facing troubles just a few weeks after she came in.

My lord I would love it if we did a sacrifice and sacrificed her to the moon's goddess. Maybe she will help us through this disaster that is looming.” He said, and I could feel the anger in his voice. “If this is really true then before we do anything let's prepare for a sacrifice ceremony, but she's nowhere to be found and we must find her as soon as we can,” I said,

“We would disperse our forces and find out more information about what's going on,” Elder Third said, and they all left. I was left ruminating about what they said, everything looked like a lie, and at the same instant it felt true, why would all these be happening if not for her, we would have to sacrifice her to the goddess in place of her people so they would know misfortune wouldn't follow them again. I thought as I stood up and walked out of the house I met Marcus walking eagerly somewhere. “Where are you going?”

I asked, and he looked at me with disdain in his eyes, “What have you said earlier? She's going to be offered as a sacrifice to the moon's goddess? Do you even know how painful it is to be dead?” he said, with pure anger. “I understand your fury but what am I to do? She's not been here for years and suddenly she comes and things start getting worse? What do you think people would say if this persists? Even if I don't kill her the members of the pack would kill her by themselves and by then I wouldn't be able to intervene anymore.” I said, and he calmed down a bit. “So tell me what are we going to do?” I asked Marcus.

“There's a way out I've gathered Intel on the abductors and there's a way we can track them down just get a few loyal men and we're off to go,” Marcus said, and I was happy we were getting leads on what we needed.

BLAIR'S POV

I was tied to a big pole along with several other maidens in a very big fire-lit room. “What is this I said to myself, nothing made sense about it, werewolves loved to kill not punish, I thought I was in the afterlife before I opened my eyes to this place.

“You all are welcome to the ultimate place where we make your destinies count, you don't have to worry we have everything we need, and before some time you will see your lives change forever,” the voice said while laughing wickedly.

Destinies and fate are all rubbish to me at this point. All I wanted to know was what I was doing there. “I would have been so happy if I had met the only man who truly loved me truly. My father was the man who had preserved my life irrespective of the amount of setbacks he suffered.
