Chapter 26: My mate is not dead!
It could not be. She is not dead I kept on thinking as I ran from the cottage.
“Alpha Liam! Alpha!” I heard Helix called me as he chases me.
I continued to run ignoring him. I needed to see my mate for I did not believe him. She is alive, and he is wrong, I again thought as my eyes became filled with tears. We were making a connection last night; the moon goddess would never take her away from me. I sobbed as the wind hit against my face, blowing away the tears streaking down my cheek.
I felt my shirt being pulled. I glanced behind me seeing it was Helix. I stopped pushing him away angrily, wiping the wetness from my face. Helix stood away from me widening his eyes, surprisingly.
“Let us go find her together,” he said; deciding to help me. I glance at him and run off ripping my clothes apart, shifting into my big black wolf hitting down everything that was in my way, returning home to find my mate.
My heart beat within my chest heavily and my body shivers as I got closer to home and out of the forest. I made a big turn allowing dark dirt to fly into the air and gathering dust. I run behind Ivy's home. There was a shortcut there where I could get to the river quickly.
As we got close to the river my feet became weak, almost falling flat on my face. Helix glances at me and howls softly seeing if I was okay. Soon we were near the river. I shifted within my human form instantly standing at the muddy bank of the river as it ran hard creating a loud rumbling sound.
“Avery!” I shouted.
“Avery!” I kept on calling.
I Could not believe she was dead. The short time we had spent together I knew her. She must be scared and is hiding somewhere.
“Avery!” I again called her as I started to cry.
I got so angry at myself for not bringing her along with me. How could I be so stupid? I blamed myself.
“Avery,” I shouted even more; allowing my throat to hurt.
“She is no longer here!” I heard Helix.
“Shut up, shut the fuck up!” I shouted at him, running into the river.
“Alpha she's no longer here,” Helix again tried to tell me. “Her body would not be here.”
Hearing what he said. I turned around and slammed my hands into the water angry as hell; allowing the water to hit against his face. He lowers his head and steps backward afraid of saying anything else.
I turned away from him, facing the water. Quickly I dived into the water searching for my mate. I felt someone held me by my shoulders pulling me from the water.
“The water is too rough, and you will drown just like she did,” Helix said.
I gave him one hard fist in his face: breaking his nose. He holds his face and growls, while the water started to run even faster slamming against our body. If we did not stand strong enough, we would surely be washed away by the water. Suddenly something hit me. I removed myself from the river swiftly.
“Alpha where are you going?” the nuisance inquired me curiously.
I ignored him running along the riverbank and sighted trees swiftly; still in search of her. Finally, I stopped at the end of the river. I looked across the river seeing if Avery was lying at the next side of the bank, but still, there was no sight of her.
I felt Helix's hands around my shoulder preventing me from going into the river again.
“You will drown within this section of the river it is too deep,” he told me.
I turned around shoving him away. He got up, holding onto one of my feet still preventing me from entering the river. I lower myself hitting him in his stomach. He holds on tightly to me, bearing the hard hits. He was determined to not let me go, and I was, even more, determine in searching for my mate, even if I had to search the deepest part of the river that could allow me to lose my life. I did not care anyway. At that moment I gave up on life. I did not want to live a day without my Avery.
I raised my foot about to step in his head. Helix turned his head towards me ready for it.
“Are you going to kill me when you truly know she is no longer here, alpha?” he said.
I lower my feet and bring my naked body down to the floor hiding my face within the palms of my hands.
“Ah!....” I growled removing my hand from my face as tears streak down my face.
“I'm sorry,” Helix apologizes as he touched my shoulder.
He gently removed his hand away from me and went away giving me some time alone. I sat at the bank of the river crying quietly.
“Why didn't you wait for me, Avery?” I spoke to the river. “I would have returned and take care of you.”
I bring my body backward laying down on the muddy ground not caring. Staring at the sky.
“Why moon goddess, why must you take every woman I have ever love away from me. Must I not have any mate?” I questioned the moon goddess while I continued to stare within the sky as tears pooled from my eyes.
I laid on the ground until the place had become dark, losing its light. I slowly got up sitting down with a broken heart staring at the horrible river that took my love away from me with pure hatred.
My body shivers feeling the place had started to become cold, slowly I removed myself from the ground and away from the deadly river. I looked back seeing the way home. I turned my head away disappointed not wanting to return home now. I needed to be alone away from everyone. I wanted to return to my cottage, and so I decided to take a shortcut. I shifted within my wolf form and started to walk in the dark, sadly.
Suddenly I stopped hearing a growling. I looked around searching for where it came from. Again, I heard it from a large nearby bush. Slowly I walked up towards it. My eyes widen surprisingly and my heart beat within my chest happily. My mate was alive. She was not dead.
