Chapter 30: Preparing for the mating ceremony
"What had happened?" my cold-hearted mother asked as she stares at me surprisingly while I entered the cottage naked.
I ignored her heading towards my room.
"Liam," she again called me, eager for an answer.
"You should leave now," I answered her and entered my bedroom, closing the door behind me.
This evening was going to be the mating ceremony within a large garden within Wereville, under the full moon. Months ago, I was not interested in going but now I was, knowing my little Avery will be coming to me tonight, having no choice. I was eager to see her blue eyes widen surprisingly when she realizes I was her mate and that she belongs here with me. Quickly I reached for a white shirt and long pants. I hurriedly put it on and went back downstairs.
"Aren't you on your way back home?" I questioned my mother fiercely seeing she was still downstairs waiting on me.
"Liam, I know you are angry at me, but it was the right thing to do in getting rid of that stray," she said scornfully.
"She's not a stray, she is my mate!" I shouted at her.
"I don't care what you have to say son, she is not fit to be a Luna of this pack," she said as she tightens her teeth within her mouth furiously.
"You are no longer the Luna of this pack. I am the new alpha," I reminded her.
Dad was no longer here, and she had to accept the fact I am her alpha and she had to obey me.
"Paisley would be a better she-wolf," she still refuses to accept that Avery is my one true-mate.
"Paisley is not here nor is she, my one true mate," I answered her.
"Well, we will see about that," she said as she stares gravely at me.
"What do you mean Jennifer?" I had to ask her knowing the type of person she was.
"You shall see soon," she said as she exited my cottage, closing the door behind her.
I reached for the door in time and exit the cottage as well locking the door behind me.
"Whatever plans you have this evening you will never stop me from being with Avery and if you continue to come between us. I will make sure you're banish from this pack," I warned her.
"Ha," my mother said frighteningly as she turned towards me widening her eyes.
I gave her a grave look. She turned around at once angrily and walked hurriedly leaving the forest. I followed her until we were near our home. I paused and watched my mother made a turn away from me. I was curious about what she had planned for tonight. She was a very sneaky wolf and I had to keep an eye on her. I had to make one of my men watch her throughout the day.
Finally, I had returned home. One of my maids greeted me. I nodded and went straight upstairs into my bedroom. I stood still within the middle of my room and turned slowly towards my closet. I walked towards it and opened it staring at the full black expensive suit I have not worn yet. Slowly I removed it and placed it onto my bed staring at it. I could not wait for this evening knowing my little she-wolf will know we were meant for each other and that we should never be separated. We were mates.
"Knock, knock," I heard a knock at the door.
Who could it be now, I thought angrily as I walked over to the door to open it and there, I saw my maid, Ivy, with one of my men I had sent off in search of answers about the death of my brother.
"Follow me," I instructed him as I closed the door behind me and walked straight into my study room.
I sat behind my desk and watched him as he sat before me, eager to know what he had find out.
I found something," he said as he took out a small white bag with white furs inside and place it on my desk.
My eyes widen, surprisingly.
"She is the only white wolf that is nearby," he said about my mate.
I relax my face.
"And what does that say?" I inquired him angrily.
"She is the only survivor of your brother pack and could be his killer," he answered.
"Get out!" I shouted at him while my blood boils.
His body jumped frighteningly.
"I'm sorry sir," he apologizes. "I'll work harder in finding out who the true killer is."
"Good," I answered. "But before you do I want you to watch my mother for today and see what dirty plans she has up her sleeves."
"Yes, alpha," he nodded and went off.
As I watched him went off. My mind suddenly went back to what he said earlier. I quickly reach for the white fur and sniffed it. My eyes widen and my heart raced within my chest scenting it was my mate. I threw it away infuriated into the bin.
"She's not strong enough to challenge my brother," I thought angrily.
Avery is not a murderer, she is not, I kept on thinking. She may be a part of the pack, but she is not a killer. My poor mate must be traumatized by what had happened and is afraid to talk about it or want anyone to get too close to her. She is traumatized that is why she keeps on running away, I thought sadly.
"Don't worry my young mate tonight everything will change," I whispered as I stare at the door.
Dwelling within Wereville land I had once attended the mating ceremony. I was eighteen at that time and was excited to meet my mate but in the end, I did not and so I promise myself I will never attend another mating ceremony and if my mate was out there, she had to be the one to find me. I decided to visit the large garden. It was a good thing in taking my mind off the terrible news my tracker told me.
Quickly I exit my home and headed towards the garden. Soon I was standing within a large field surrounded with beautiful flowers and design by stylish lights. Every worker within the garden was surprised to see me.
"Good afternoon," they all greeted and too would ask curiously if I needed something.
They were even more surprised when I asked to help in setting up the decorations. They nodded surprisingly and show me where they were.
"Sir," I heard a familiar voice behind me.
I turned around and saw it was my tracker. He walked straight into a quiet section of the garden wanting us to be alone. Where we could talk secretly.
'Have you found out what my mother has planned for today?" I inquired him.
He nodded.
"I saw her went to the post office inquiring about a letter when she left, I found out from one of the workers the letter was from Paisley," he informed me.
My eyes widen hearing him called my first love. Did my mother discover where she was? I thought. I was eager to know and too what the letter contains. I had to visit my mom's house now to find out what was in the letter.
