Chapter 38: The sorry alpha

Closing the door of the store behind me. I stood still in front of it as if I were guarding it. I did not want to leave the store, knowing that my little Avery was still inside. It was difficult for me to go home without her. I ran my right hand through my dark hair while I clench my teeth angrily within my mouth, wanting to growl loudly; mad at myself for doing something so stupid. But as the alpha of the dark shadow pack. I did not want to worry any of my pack members and cause any of them to be alarm of my action. And so, I decided to take a walk somewhere peacefully; where I can sit and wait for my mate to calm down and return to explain myself to her.

All along I thought she did not care that we were mates but, seeing within her eyes today how mad she was at me, made me see that she did care after all. I wanted to be happy that she did but sadly I do not think she does anymore. Not of what I did, today.

As I went away from the shop. I suddenly stop staring through a large clear white glass of a store, displaying some dolls. Beautiful dolls with long hair of many colours, made from cloth and plastic. A smile suddenly appears on my face remembering once seeing my little Avery staring through the glass as if she were a child, admiring the beauties of the dolls. My face made in anger as I too remember the drunkard bitch, pulling her away from the large glass wanting to rape her. I clench my hand tightly into a fist infuriated, recollecting how terrify she was. I was happy I was there to teach the drunkard a lesson of touching my Luna. Slowly, I turn my back towards the doll store as I remain to remember that melancholy day and how my mate pleaded for the blonde drunkard who only wanted to hurt her.

"I'm a terrible mate," I whisper to myself as I raise my head, staring within the sky.

A beautiful heart like my mate who would try to save someone's life, who only wanted to hurt her should never be hurt. But I did, I thought sadly.

"See anything you like, alpha?" I heard a voice from behind inquiring me.

I turn around at once to see who it was and there, I saw an elderly short grey hair lady, smiling pleasantly at me.

"I was just looking," I answer her.

"Okay," she said as she smiles even more.

I nodded and turned my back, walking away.

"We have other wonderful items inside; I'm sure you would love to buy something special for your other half," the lady of the doll store stopped me from behind.

"I have beautiful necklaces and I can even make a pendant with your name on it for your special one, within an hour or less," the grey hair lady insisted on making me buy something within her store.

Slowly I turn around liking the idea of the necklace.

"Let me see them," I told her.

"Follow me inside, alpha," she instructed me.

I followed her until I was within her small store.

"These are our beautiful gold and silver necklaces," she showed me at the front displaying within a large square glass area.

"If you don't want to wait on the pendant, I have some ready ones here formed in many shapes," she pointed within the glass square area.

I stare at the beautiful small necklace; I love that would go perfectly around my little mate's neck.

"I want the second necklace," I told the lady.

She nodded and gently remove it from the glass display. A beautiful gold necklaces.

"See any ready-made pendant you like?" she inquires me as she places the necklace within a small gold box.

"No," I answer her as I stare at the gold and silver pendant.

"This beautiful shape heart would go wonderful around that special person's neck," the lady said determine for me to buy one of the pendants. As she took out the gold heart pendant; in allowing me to see it clearly.

"A pendant with my name written in gold, Liam, would be much better," I told her.

"Okay," she nodded as she smiles. "Give me a minute in going to the back to let one of my workers create it as soon as possible, but before I go can I know if you want it today or another day suitable for you?" she inquires me.

"It would be good, if I could get it today," I told her.

"Okay sir," she again answers me as she ran off quickly to the back of the store.

I stood silently within her store waiting on her to give me the price while my mind ran on my heartbroken mate waiting for me at the other store.

I hope she will forgive me and love the necklace I have bought for her, I thought sadly.

"My men are on your pendant right now," the lady said to me as she returns to the front area of her store.

I nodded.

"Are you going to wait for it or come back within an hour or fifty minutes?" she inquires me.

"I'll wait," I answer her. "And how much is it cost?" I inquire her as I reached within my pocket for my wallet.

She told me the price and I paid her right away.

"I'll be outside waiting," I told her as I exit the store.

"Yes sir," she answers me.

I stood silently outside; while I stare in the direction where I knew my mate was.

I mess up big time, I again started to curse myself from inside. As my mind runs back on her searching for me within the field; wanting to accept me as her mate but I foolishly fuck it up, big time.

"Grrr," I grow as I angrily ran my right hand through the side of my hair.

I quickly took my hair from my head and turn around the moment I heard the store door behind me open.

"It's finished quicker than I thought," the lady told me. "It's now cooling down and then you can get it within less than 20 minutes."

"Good," I answer her with my powerful voice and again turn my back; staring in the same direction, where my mate was.

As soon as I receive the necklace, I am going to return to her, I thought; hoping she is calm down and willingly to listen to me.

My body suddenly jumps, seeing Paisley coming towards the direction I was. Quickly, I went inside the store not wanting her to see me. She was the cause of the terrible issue with me and my mate; and too allowing her to see me would probably make things worse.

"I was just about to come to you again, sir," the lady of the store said to me as I entered her store. "Here is the beautiful necklace and pendant," she gave me.

I held the gold box within my hand; staring at the beautiful necklace with my name, attractively design in gold as the pendant.

"I hope you will like it," I said softly; not for the lady to hear me. I was bothered that she will dislike my name as the pendant and refuse to take it.

"Thank you," I thank the lady; covering the necklace with the cover of the small box and place it within my pocket. I then slowly exit the store, hoping not to meet upon Paisley.

As I exit the store, I quickly raise my head, staring within the sky at the loud sound of the thunder. I stare at the dark cloudy sky; seeing it was going to rain. I began to walk quickly back to the store where my mate was before it begins to rain hoping she will agree to come home with me.

"Liam!" "Liam!" I heard a voice calling me. A voice I wish not to hear.

I did not stop nor bother to turn around; instead, I held my head straight and continue to walk. My body suddenly stood still as I feel her hand against me. Immediately, I turn around, pushing her hand away from me.

"Why are you pushing your hands away from me when you were so happy not too long ago to be all over me," Paisley said to me.

Infuriated that she kept on chasing after me and had made things worst with me and my one true mate. I grab her by her hand and pull her to a spot where I could speak to her privately and put on end to her once and for all.

"Where are you taking me, Liam?" she kept on inquiring me on the way.

I did not answer her; instead, I continue to carry her until we were at a lonely spot; surrounded by large trees and wild plants. I pull my hand away from her angrily as I stop.

"Why are you treating me so harshly now Liam?" Paisley inquires me sadly. "You never use to treat me in such a way," she again said to me as she tries to get close to me; to touch my chest.

Immediately, I held her hand before she could touch my bare chest.

"Enough Paisley, I have moved on with my life and you have to accept it," I told her.

"But I can't Liam," she started to cry to me. "I still love you and I don't think I will ever stop," she cries even more.

"Well, I don't love you like I use to Paisley!" I found myself shouting angrily at her.

Her green eyes widen frighteningly by what I said, and she stood still as if she was frozen.

"I'm sorry Paisley," I try to apologize; hating what I had said. I did not want it to be this way. I wish I could have said it a better way without hurting her.

Swiftly, Paisley turns around and runs away, crying her eyes out, heartbroken by my hurtful words. I wanted to chase after her feeling so sorry for what I did but I did not want to make things worse, instead, I drop my body to the hard ground and sat feeling so sorry. I remain within the same position sadly that the place had begun to become dark. Slowly, I raise my head, feeling something wet fall against my skin. I looked up and there I saw it was rain. I jumped up from the ground as it begins to rain even harder. I was soaked before I could leave the bushy area I was within. I then stood still within the rain, staring in the direction where my mate was; not wanting to run home. I slowly reach within my pocket feeling the box with the jewellery I had bought for her was soak. I quickly took it from my pocket; throwing away the box and place the jewellery back within my pocket.

I cannot sleep tonight unless, I know that she is fine, I think sadly as I begin to run to the shop where she was. As I reach the shop, I stop at the entrance door of the store, raising my hand to knock on the door. Sadly, I place down my hand; not wanting to bother her now. Melancholy, I walk at the back of the store and stop, staring through a window; wondering if my mate was within the room. As the rainfall even more. I remain to stand still, eager to know if she was within the room. Suddenly, I saw my beautiful mate coming towards the window; wrap only within a towel.
