Chapter 50|Jackpot.

....

Martin Miles groaned harshly, exhaling breaths in audible huffs before speaking, "Who knows about her death yet?"

Arabella cleared her throat, "Nobody knows. They're searching for her, there's no evidence that says she was back in the Pack. This brings me to the topic of your protégé, what the hell is that bitch doing as your side kick?"

"You might have my blood running through your veins but that girl is much more efficient and effective than you are, in a week she has achieved and accomolished my goal whereas you were busy taking baby steps to reaching them." He narrowed his gaze at her.

"You cannot trust someone from the enemy Pack. Or have you forgotten your own words? That girl is the Alpha's sister, she might be playing a trick on you." She spluttered, finding it hard to believe that her grandfather was taking the other girl's side.

"Ah ha! The fact here is that she's not, do you believe for once I haven't thought of the consequences of taking her in? You know me better than that, you know I never act on impulse, the girl you think incompetent buried the corpse of Isabelle Kane Knight and there's none the wiser but the few of us unless you'll go squealing about it to the pup." He narrowed his eyes after speaking. Sizing his enraged granddaughter.

"When did she come to you?" Arabella asked, tampering down a large part of her ire.

"None of your concern child. Hold you tongue when you speak to me, refrain from using that authoritative tone or you will get a good lashing." He swore. "Why does it feel like you're softening towards Isabelle. Have you forgotten what loss she had you go through? If you have then know that I haven't and I never will. This runt caused the death of your grandmother, your mother, she is the reason why you are living the ungraceful life you're in. You would've been lavished in all things gold but the girl is threatening to take everything you deserve from you whereas you're here twittering about how wrong I am in getting her killed." The orbs in his eyes were turning darker as he spoke, his anger was brimming to a pit as his fists clenched tightly on his sides, reminiscing the day when his wife's slights were made known, the day his life turned bleak and the day his goals took a sudden stop, changing irrevocably and to the point of no return. He never looked back to the past and the relationship he shared with the men who betrayed him with compassion ever again.

Arabella willed herself for composure knowing how she has hit a spot.

"Now that the deed's done what's next?" She asked, turning her face to the side, glaring at the walls.

"You are getting married to the Alpha in a few day's time. It's not a request, it is an order." His words were stern and his facial expression stoic. A brief devilish smile pulled at the corner of his lips, one he unsuccessfully attempted hiding because of the pride and excitement coursing through his veins. It could not be hidden. The smell of success had begun wafting through his nostrils and nothing smelt better.

"We're getting there my love, soon it'll be over and we'll conquer the world." His words were whispered solemnly into the air, he was assured that his message had reached the target audience's soul as he felt a sense of peace enveloping his senses.

"About Leah.." Arabella began the moment she noticed her grandfather's anger and tension dissipating.

"Do not fret young lady. The girl is all mine until her work is done, then she'll learn to never trust her enemies." He grinned ruthlessly.

"Why do you trust her so much?" She asked, finding it hard to believe her grandfather could trust the girl he's known not for long. A man who doesn't find it easy to trust or believe in anyone but himself.

"She came to me, she trailed after you one day and I felt her presence, I smelt her scent but you didn't. I caught her lurking about and with desperation she told me much more than you could find about the girl, she explained the length to which Alexander could go to to satisfy the chit's whims, they were together at his apartment in Manhattan while you were haughtily acting the part of a Queen to be unbeknownst to the fact that the other girl was taking your rightful place skillfully. We came to an agreement that will turn out to be a win-win for both of us, and it did, I'm satisfied." His eyes glinted with pride as he sighed," You see she loves her brother dearly and she doesn't want to see him hurt in any way. Don't blame her for being protective of her own kin. What pains me is seeing you getting comfortable without the zeal to act upon your sole reason for being there."

She turned to argue and he held his hand up in the air, halting her from speaking.

The look on his face broke no room for argument. It made her throat dry up in an instant. He obviously meant business.

"Expose either one of us and I'll take you down, starting from your dear Lucas, you know what I mean." His grin was deviish and stance haughty.

Arabella gulped as his words dawned on her. The realization that he had put two and two together concerning her relationship with the Alpha's brother making her hopes for salivation drop, or perhaps he got a clue from the man's sister. Her temper skyrocketed at the thought of Leah speaking about her at all.

Either which, Arabella vowed to find out herself and be a woman of her own, not a spy for Martin and neither one for Alexander.

.....

Leah focused her gaze on the movement in the shadows, she'd sent a message to Martin through their accepted mode of communication alerting him of her mission's completion. After noticing Isabelle's disappearance from the cell room, she figured out how to come up with the perfect solution because Martin's contempt for Isabelle wasn't minor, it surpassed hers by far on a measuring scale.

Knowing the weight of his animosity towards Isabelle and his zeal to have her dead, she came to an agreement with Sylvester Skorr who was the only other person on their side that knew about her disappearance.

With her throat feeling like it was filled with nails she rethought things through and after so much brainstorming Leah came up with an idea that could be the only way out. The only solution that could be accepted by their leader.

Her plan was to find a dead body from a morgue and claim her as Isabelle's dead body after ensuring that the corpse's features matched with Isabelle's. Finding a natural ginger was hard but after a few probes Sylvester got a call from one of his search sources claiming they'd gotten one.

The smell of success had the two conniving sidekicks grinning at each other and teleporting to the location where their jackpot had hit.
