Chapter 85|A Worthwhile Interrution.

**Third Person's P O V
Alexander paced around the corridor leading to his rooms with his hands held tight behind his back and his mind filled with thoughts that did nothing to ease his worry. Rather, it elevated the feeling up by degrees.
Old Bea walked out of the room Isabelle was taken to looking the completely opposite version of how she looked when she first walked in, or fled in with the pack doctor not far behind her.
“She’s awake, you can go in now.” The Alpha was already turning the knob open by the time the words slid past her lips.
With a slight shake of her head she turned to the others present, they were all staring at her with agitation written on their faces.
“What happened? What did the doctor say?” Arabella who came the moment she heard of Isabelle’s accident asked biting a perfectly trimmed nail and anxiously awaiting Old Bea’s response. They were all nervous and it showed.
“She is fine, it’s nothing but stress and anything else the Doctor finds out will be related to you. Now you can all relax.” With that she went down the hallway humming to herself.
“I knew it!” The Old woman mumbled under her breath, she placed a hand over her chest and said a prayer.
Arabella turned to Lucas who raised his brows and dropped to the seat he was occupying prior to her coming out of the room.
“I pray for the day this Old woman starts explaining situations and spare us all the misery of waiting in suspense.” Francis groaned squeezing the canned drink in his grasp completely deforming the object.
Damon watched all of them and with a shake of his head at their cluelessness and naïveté he strode out of the Pack manor praying for the future Luna’s health and heading to Leah’s prison cell.
Alexander took a look at Isabelle and felt his scare giving way to relief. She looked tired, very much so but on her face was a smile unlike anything he’d ever seen on her face before. She was listening attentively to what Dr. Ricci was saying but the moment her eyes turned to him her smile gave way to a deep scowl. His heart dropped to the floor once again.
It was too much for a man to bear! Alexander thought, viciously.
Ignoring the scowl that in no way made her look the least bit ugly Alexander took her hand in his, placed an open-mouthed kiss on it and turned to the Doctor for a handshake.
“Ricci.”
“My Alpha.” The female doctor replied politely and with respect.
“How is my mate?” He asked, paying no heed to the torture Isabelle thought she was inflicting on his person. She was squeezing his hand that was still in her grasp with all her might. All the might of an ant, that was how he felt but didn’t want to hurt her femininity by claiming so.
So, he turned to her for a moment, made a face that portrayed the fake pain he felt and turned instantly to the doctor whom had begun speaking.
“The events that passed on recently has taken a toll on her health, it will be wise of you or anyone to refrain from causing any more distress on her. She should not be disturbed or upset or…”
“He gets the memo darling.” Isabelle cut through, feeling quite put out with how so much emphasis was being laid on her health.
She was feeling as strong as an ox and having Alexander believe that she was some sort of fragile being made goosebumps rise on her skin. She shuddered at the thought of the rules to be enforced the moment he hears of the rest.
“He already looks like he’s chewing a mouthful of nails. Yum.” She added winking at the doctor who cleared her throat, turned and took hold of her tote bag and the other stuff she brought with her in haste after Old Bea and a dozen more pack members came rushing to her home.
It seemed the lot forgot about the existence of mobile phones and landlines. All of the houses within the De Luca Pack territory had one or two of those for emergencies.
“Well, I’ll be back soon to check up on you.” Her smile was wide and polite as she made her way to the door, with her hand resting on the knob she added, “And once again…” She lowered her voice completely, waited until Alexander had turned his back on her and mouthed “Congratulations!” With a thumbs up and a wink.
Alexander could barely wait for her to be out before he was all over Isabelle.
“God! Isabelle you scared me! Fifty years of my life was taken away at the sound of your scream and fifty more when we found you unconscious.” He groaned, placed his head in the crook of her neck relishing in his mate’s delightful scent.
“Get off me.” She gritted out, fighting back the urge to pull his head up as she was badly aching to and spewing out the news that made her toes curl in excitement.
“No, we can’t go over this Isabelle. Not again please. The Doctor repeatedly said to avoid stressing you, we were warned.” He looked frustrated. He felt frustrated at how she wasn’t letting go of Leah’s issue.
Isabelle sighed heavily and with determination she voiced out a word she’d never used on him, she has always been the complaint and polite mate who stares at him with stars in her eyes. Knowing it wasn’t always going to be like that anymore made her resolve hardened harder.
“Leave.” She took advantage of the surprise on his face and shook him off, turned to her other side and let her eyes shut close.
She almost lost it when he recovered from his shock and placed both of his hands on her body, she felt the pounding of his heart and the gut wrenching feeling that coursed through his entire body. He wasn’t angry, he was scared senseless.
“Isabelle don’t do this, you.. we will talk about Leah if it’s what you want but know this, I can’t let a traitor wander around my territory unpunished. Not if punishment is exacted on her accomplices, I’m aiming to be a fair leader. Forgiving her gives more room for future betrayal, understand me.” The height of his emotions made his voice shake, just slightly.
“I’m not suggesting she be left unpunished, I just don’t want her punishment to be extreme.” She turned to face him. “I paid her a visit yesterday.”
“You were at the dungeons?” He asked with a scowl. “You should’ve wait until I was back so we could go together.”
She rolled her eyes, “Or so you could’ve stopped me more like. Anyways, I wasn’t alone, Arabella was with me and she screamed her feelings at us. She was still spiteful quite alright but she had a reason for it! She was lonely at a very young age, then she found a family, she gave them all the love she has then one day two selfish girls come into the picture and take off the only two people she has in her life as her family. What were you expecting her to do? It was either to love the two selfish girls, embrace them into the family that has grown bigger or hate them. She chose the latter because she found the wrong advisor!” Isabelle ranted and all Alexander could do was stare at her the more.
Fuck if he wasn’t in love.
“She told you all of this?” He asked, not softened by her narration but a little bit in the compassion she has for people.
Isabelle rolled her eyes a second time, “She was too busy yelling profanities at us. No, she didn’t tell me any of that. Arabella and I understood her because we know best how it feels to be lonely.”
“I don’t know what I did to deserve you but whatever it is just know that I’m the luckiest man on earth.” He stared at her in admiration thinking how she was defending the woman whom in her own words screamed profanities at her and wasn’t regretful of her actions.
How she could do that beguiled him.
“Luckiest man is straying from the subject, don’t you see she deserves some compassion?”
“I can’t be romantic until Leah is out of your head. Fuck, our heads can I?” He asked dejectedly. “Until she’s not looming over us like a dark cloud.”
“You can’t, I’m anticipating the day she truly will be out of our heads, it’s making me more sick with worry.”
“And the Doctor said to not stress you. I promise you that you’ll have a say in her punishment as the one directly affected by her actions and constantly worrying yourself over her.” He grunted. “But know that she surely will be punished. Definitely!”
Isabelle chose to be optimistic, smiled and voiced out, “Let’s shake hands on this.” They shook hands and he dove in for a kiss which she avoided by placing a hand between their lips.
Alexander groaned.
“I think she needs to be checked, Francis said something about her making up stories about her mother and Enzo being her father. I have a feeling she’s mentally unstable, she was hysterical when we visited.”
Alexander grunted at Isabelle’s relentless refusal to talk about nothing but Leah. “I heard about that, we found out about her deceased parents a long time ago bug she doesn’t know about that. The topic of her parents is something we used to avoid discussing about. Let’s quit talking about her please, it’s sucking off what’s left of my energy. I’m tired.” He sounded pinched, bitten, tortured.
He dove in the second time and Isabelle’s hand covering his lips made him feel like the chips on his head were being lit on fucking fire.
“One more thing.” She whispered.
He looked savage, ready to kill.
“Anything but Leah. Please!” He growled.
“I’m pregnant.”
He didn’t quite hear her well but the sound of her voice echoing in his mind had him stilling like a statue.
His heated gaze dropped on her and realization dawned on him.
Stress, worry, fainting spell, Old Bea’s expression. Pregnancy. PREGNANCY!
He was fucking going to be a Father.
Isabelle was pregnant with his child.
She was buying time for herself!
Time stopped between them.
It was the best interruption he has ever gotten in the whole of his life.
