Chapter 80|An Eye For An Eye.

.....

**Isabelle's P O V.

One day after Lucas regained consciousness, with the help of his wolf, his mate and my abilities he healed rapidly. I couldn't do anything to help earlier because I needed him awake first before anything could be done.

Alexander arranged for his return to Staten Island alongside Old Bea, Francis and the other pack members who came with them including the female guards assigned to Arabella and I.

Only Damon and the two of us stayed back to witness Martin's execution. The De Luca Pack traitors were all caught and locked in separate cells in the dungeon where I was kept the other time.

Today, my grandfather was planning to meet his long lost friend who is also his worst enemy and our caged prisoner. The plan was to bring Martin to the Bane Pack execution ground, a place which was used in the olden days, in the more recent days modern methods have been adopted in several packs leaving such places as things of the past.

Martin got shackled to the wall and for the first time in so many days my grandfather was taken out of his residence. Martin's face was sizzling with so much hatred as he stared at my grandfather. The two men fought a battle of wills where no one was willing to back down from the hard stare they subjected on the other.

"I thought in your place I would see the once warmhearted man who put other's needs before his, but I see it's the man who killed his closest companion staring at me." Christopher Knight's deep voice boomed through the field.

Martin puffed his chest out, attempting to act all strong "The only person I regard as my closest companion is my wife and you took her away, you lot mean nothing to me, never will and never have." Martin spat back, his tone was filled with venom and malevolence. His aura screamed hostility.

"Even shackled to the walls you have the audacity to speak with so much contempt."

Martin grinned, or attempted to. His face was in a mess thanks to the treatment he received from his self-appointed guards aka my Uncle, Alexander, Damon and a few more pack members who were directly affected by his actions.

"I don't fear you Christopher Knight. Remember, I singlehandedly caused your paralysis, killed your friend all in the span of a few minutes and yes I'm proudly saying it. I killed Stephano De Luca with my bare hands." His grin was sinister, his actions were deliberate. He knew his words were definitely going to get to someone from either of the two packs and if my guess is right I think his wish is to have someone annihilate him quickly, to ease the pain that'll come from his inevitable death.

I held tight unto Alexander's hand, willing him not to fall to bait. His stance was so rigid and if looks could kill Martin would've been a thousand feet beneath the ground, his jaw was clenched hard and I felt the pain that sliced through his train of thoughts.

"He wants you to react. Don't give him the pleasure." I whispered to the Alpha in my arms and his response was felt in the slight slackening of his arm around me.

My grandfather though smiled at Martin as though his words didn't affect him one bit, or made sense at all because he smirked and responded to his jibe, "You don't need to waste your breath and recall the event. Remember I was there when you..." He paused, turned to Alex and made a gesture with his head, one I couldn't comprehend but one Alexander quickly understood because he let go of me and walked towards Martin with precise steps before my grandfather continued with his speech. "When you sunk your blade into my friend's chest from behind, you are a coward for not attacking him from the front just like every brave man would have."

My Uncle Drake met Alexander half way and the two men unchained Martin from the walls, he was too weak his legs nearly gave up on him but he mustered all the courage he could and willed himself up.

"Real men drive their knives into the unfortunate victim's flesh when they're staring into their eyes face to face." With his words came Martin's sharp gasp of surprise and my eyes flew to Alexander who was standing too close to the other man.

He moved back two paces and the edge of the knife he drove into Martin's thigh glinted in the sun. The crowd gasped.

"That is for striking Stephano the first time." My grandfather smirked at the pain written boldly on Martin's face. His face was red from both humiliation and pain.

My Uncle Drake cocked a pistol and my heart raced, they were putting the "an eye for an eye" law to practice for all to see. He aimed at Martin's leg, the very one Alexander stabbed.

"This is for shooting me when I moved to save my friend." My grandfather worded at the same time the Alpha of the Bane Pack released the trigger.

The shot resonated throughout the room and the subsequent gasps of surprise released by the crowd had my lips parting open in utmost bewilderment.

Where was I when they were planning this for Martin? I felt giddy and at the same time trepidation sucked the air from my lungs.

Alex retrieved his knife from Martin's thigh none-too-gently with a very satisfied smirk pulling at his lips. My Uncle put his gun away too and they both made their way back to my grandfather. They communicated in private before the two men returned to their mates as though they were not the cause for Martin's shouts and screams of pain.

He was repeatedly screaming "Make it go away, kill me and be done with it. Kill me!" but they were all acting oblivious to his cries of pain. In fact, we all were acting oblivious because no one seemed to sympathize with the dreadful man.

Now I understood Alexander's reason for making Arabella leave with Lucas, despite what she said about Martin it wouldn't have been right for her to witness his punishment and execution.

They might not have killed Martin but they surely subjected him to a lot of pain, which was celerated by a lot of the Bane Pack members.
