Chapter 86|To Brew A War With One’s Own Mate.
.....
**Isabelle’s P O V
In the next few days that passed I was treated like an invalid. An invalid!
Alexander literally howled my pregnancy to our closest friends and spent his days wearing a goofy smile that only slipped off on two occasions. The first was when he found me sprinting down the hall which by the way was a mere normal paced walk in everyone else’s eyes but his, he said my legs were moving too fast I could’ve easily tripped. You hear that? Makes sense? No.
He has turned into an overprotective man who feels the need to hover over me at all times and when he’s not around, my personal guard is, when it’s private, Old Bea is. I have a feeling she’s enjoying the hovering and fussing too much to resist because she spoils me to bits and her excitement cannot be tamed or tampered down.
The other time he was seen with a scowl was when Martin’s accomplices were punished once and for all.
True to his word, he let me have a say in Leah’s punishment and from what Old Bea explained as the rightful punishment to her treacherous actions I understood and relented a bit. That was before the psychiatrist confirmed our suspicions that Leah was mentally unstable and so, the first part of her punishment was rehab after which she’ll move out of the De Luca Pack territory on banishment. She was exiled and it didn’t have an end date. Forever. Alexander chose the farthest country for her to live in with the consent of the Alpha ruling over its territory but for now she was in the custody of the psychiatric until she was better.
The Alpha was arranging her arrival already.
She had a solemn and dejected look in her face when she was taken away, that too was after the chaos she caused when the psychiatrist calmly told her of where she was taking her to. The mention of rehab had her sprinting to the farthest end of the courtroom. She was yelling and frantically pulling at her hair with a frenzy look in her eyes, she rejected the team’s assessment of her as nothing but lies and fake vehemently. That took off the doubt in everyone who doubted’s mind.
She had to be given some sort of injection before the fight in her was gone, she calmed down and I couldn’t take my eyes off the scene until she was completely out of our sights. That was when I found a scowl on the Alpha’s face and when he caught my eyes the look got quickly replaced with a lopsided grin and a little gesture I understood quite alright.
The Elders apprehended got their involvement with Martin dated back to when exactly it started and so their punishments differ. Adrianno Dimitri, the eldest of them all much to everyone’s surprise had a hand in Stephano’s death. In fact, he was in the car when it happened but we all were none the wiser until now. Not even my grandfather. He got exiled to the Forest of Doom alongside Viktor Ives and Sylvester Skorr who were both involved in several killings directed by their leader. All those convicted with murder were taken there.
Boris Mallory’s family were all found guilty except his youngest daughter who was gone for college and wasn’t back. She got summoned to bid her family farewell before they were imprisoned in different cells in the same country for a lifetime. In Russia there is an ancient dungeon which is still in use for purposes as this and well no one ever hears stories about the prisoners after they’re locked up anymore. It’s basically for imprisoning convicts who committed treachery and so on. I got bored when the judge explained the punishment assigned by the law and declared by my mate in details.
Before the sitting ended every single one of them knew their fates and some of their family members left the pack in shame, some were sorry and made a blood oath to the Pack to not follow in their footsteps, some were banished too, the demented ones imprisoned because they found faults in the system’s laws which was funny. But not for a lifetime. It depends on the extent to which their fury is expressed.
Logan Ives, the man whom Alexander had stripped off his position as a soldier was among those who stayed back with an oath to protect the pack. He knew the repercussions of going against his actions and truly he looked sincere and disgusted, ashamed of his Father’s rotten involvement with Martin. He was the man who took me to the elders the first time they openly suspected me of treachery. The lousy lots.
The Pack that day was so busy with lots of activities that made me stay back in the manor. Everyone was either nervous, apprehensive, detached or giddy.
The giddy ones include Lucia De Luca, she’s their Queen. That woman threw a good riddance party I almost felt a sense of kinship with her. Not that I was jubilating but what does anyone got to do with traitors? Nothing!
Now three days later, the air has cleared and activities were bustling back to normal, what didn’t change was my situation.
Remember which?
Well, of me being treated like an invalid.
I’m not normally a rude person but I very nearly threw Dr. Ricci the middle finger when she came to check up on me the fifth time in ten days. The first time, I was welcoming. The second, not so inclined to smile but still did after assuring her that I was very much fine if not healthier than she was. The third time, I didn’t speak a word after we exchanged pleasantries and thought up ways to kick some sense into my beloved mate. Perhaps by kicking his shin or head, aiming for his thick skull. The fourth time, I politely told her off and she politely, if not happily assured me that she was taking the Alpha’s orders over my request, she found the whole thing amusing while I sat there dumbfounded. Now the fifth time, if I had the strength to manhandle a human I would have gladly and personally plucked her out and away from the premises.
I am fine, dammit!
I pitied her at the last minute and rewarded Alexander with the bird the very next time I saw him.
Which is now.
