Chapter 26
Lorenzo's POV
Tonight was the night of the Ferrari party and the excitement was high in the air, everywhere you looked people were talking about it and the excitement was evident on their faces.
I was all dressed by now and I was looking forward to seeing Andrea later tonight, I glanced at the invitation card in my hand and wondered if I should try asking my father about it.
Deciding to ask my father once before leaving if he could attend the ball with me and use the opportunity to see Andrea because I was certain she missed him and it would them both a world of good to spend time with each other.
I raised my hand to knock on the door and before I could do that, the heavy oak doors swung open and my father stood there, he gave me look that clearly questioned why I was standing outside his study looking all dapper in my grey suit and white shirt underneath and my hair all styled and gelled.
“Are you going somewhere Angelo?” he asked.
I cleared my throat and said “Yes actually father, I am supposed to attend a party”
My father gave me a look that clearly said he was confused “You do not need my permission to go out Angelo so why are you standing outside my door looking like a boy seeking permission to take a woman out?”
I cleared my throat once more and said “Actually father, we were supposed to attend the renaissance ball at the Ferrari mansion tonight and I was hoping we could go and you will take the chance to see Andrea, it has been a while since you last saw her and she really misses you, I am certain of it”
A frown settled on his face and then he was quiet for a while then he said “I refuse to set foot in that house, I have my pride to consider”
“But father, the two families are at peace now and your visit will only solidify the peace” I said to him hoping to convince him.
My father’s eyes narrowed and then he said “I solidified the peace when your sister got married to Emil Ferrari, it can not get any more solid than that and I refuse to be the first one to visit Emil, if anyone is to a pay a visit, it should be him”
It was just like my father to be stubborn like this, he was holding on to his traditional beliefs and there was no way to convince him when he got like this.
“And what of Andrea? She really misses you father” I said hoping to get through to him.
“Andrea is a grown woman living in her husband’s house, I am sure she can handle herself, I do not need to worry about her” My father said.
“Father…” I started to say but I was cut short by my father.
“This is the last I wish to hear on this matter, you are free to go if you want to but do not discuss any matter of visiting the Ferrari house anymore” he said and walked past me.
As I watched him walk away and I could not help but wonder how a man could be so stubborn.
I let out a sigh of frustration before heading outside the house, the driver was waiting for me with the car door held open.
I got into the back seat of the car with a sigh of frustration “To the Ferrari mansion” I said to the driver the moment he got in to the car.
I wondered if Andrea had been expecting father to attend the ball and how disappointed she will be if he did not show up.
It was getting difficult to handle all these family drama.
