Chapter eleven

Chapter eleven - Heart to heart

"It hurts like Hell when someone makes you feel special...Then, suddenly, leaves you hanging, just for you to act like you never really cared."

I drove as far away as possible from the town, which I already have managed to fall in love with.
Tightly gripping on the steering wheel, not daring to take even a glance at him. None of us would be able to lead even close to a decent conversation; we had to get away from here.

After few hours, I was pretty sure we finally reached unclaimed lands, where I do not need to worry for anything else than rogues and trust me; at this point, they would be as dangerous as puppies, compared to what might yet to come.

We both got out of the car and started walking towards the little waterfall in the middle of the forest. As soon as we reached it, he sat down first, soon his face hidden behind his palms.

I sat right next to him and placed my hand onto his shoulder, gently rubbing it.

"Do you want to talk about it?" I spoke first.

"Only if you talk about my father. And not some made-up bullshit about how you two didn't get along, I want the truth. I want that exact truth grandma told me about," he demanded, still hiding his face, obviously way too angry to face me right now.

I sighed heavily and removed my hand from his shoulder, gently placing it onto my lap.

"How much did she managed to tell you?" I asked quietly. My voice was shaking, I was dreading this day since my son was born and now I had to tell him everything — the whole ugly truth.

"Nothing much actually, that's why I'm asking, I want you to tell me what exactly happened. Everything from the day you met him until the day I was born. Mom, I need to know this, I'm not a child anymore, I can control my anger."

"Ok, just make yourself comfortable and listen carefully, because I won't talk about this ever again," he just nods in approval and laid down on the grass, patiently waiting for my story to begin.

"I was young, way too young to understand how ugly and evil someone's nature can be.
It was the middle of December; I remember running through the town, rushing home.
Everything covered in snow, and it was a truly amazing sight to see, unusually as late.
I couldn't see much since I was way too amazed by dark, silent streets and snowflakes surrounding me.
I ran into what I thought was a wall but ended up to be... Well, it was your father.
The most handsome and well-built man I had ever seen in my life, I still remember his deep green eyes, messy brown hair, and addicting peppermint scent.
He was perfection.
I didn't know much about werewolves back then, nor did I knew anything about their mates. Our community hasn't had anyone who has found their real beloved in centuries.
Of course, your grandmother made sure that I must be polite at all costs, so I apologized to the stranger for being so careless and running into him.
He just smiled at me.
I swear, I melted at him, smiling for me acting like a silly, little girl.
I was about to leave and continue my way home when he tightly grabbed my wrist and growled at me.
Exactly, like a wild animal, he growled.
He spun me around and caged me into his arms, slowly leaning to my neck.
Even thinking of it, my heart starts racing as crazy.
He took a deep breath, and I felt my body burning from the heat of his.
He just laughed at me and said that now, since he has finally found me, he would never let me go. Of course, I was confused and didn't understand why this stranger was acting like a crazy man back then, yet soon he did explain whole mate thing and so on.
I was so happy; I nearly started dancing right there.
And I didn't care who he was, wherefrom he came and what kind of title he held.
Unfortunately, your grandmother did care, since she wanted nothing more, but to keep our Royal bloodline clean, she wasn't exactly happy for the fact that I ended up mated to a werewolf.
But you can't play with fate, right...
I left my home, refusing the title and throne, just to be with him.
I gave up on everything, in the hope of happiness.
So selfish, right?
The first week together seemed like a fairytale.
Which, unfortunately, ended way too quickly.
Your father soon became abusive and aggressive.
His family wasn't fond of the idea of him having a vampire as a mate.
They did everything to change his mind, to ruin our happiness and future.
They made fun out of me whenever he wasn't around. They treated me like their maid.
But I stood my ground, no matter how it hurt my feelings and pride, I did it all for him.
Until he started punishing me for things nobody ever would. Until he started beating me whenever something was wrong- until he started embarrassing me in front of his family and pack, I was nothing more than a toy, and he made sure I knew it.
I managed to stand my ground for six months. Soon after, I cracked and begged for him to reject me. He did the opposite. He marked me and forced himself onto me to complete the mating process. Only after the mating process was finished, he understood what he had done. He didn't come back after that; I was being kept under the lock-in his bedroom.
A week later, he rejected me and ordered his guards to throw me into rogues territory, to make sure I won't survive. He didn't know I was carrying you, but I did, yet I didn't intend to tell him. I was scared for your life. I was scared for us both. So I didn't fight, I let them throw me out like trash. I let them get rid of me. Of course, no matter how angry your grandmother was for my betrayal, she did take me back in, since I was carrying a possible heir." I closed my eyes, trying to keep the tears away from escaping.

"How did you managed to escape the rogues, though? And who exactly was my father?" Lukas suddenly spoke.

"I didn't need to escape; they took me back to my family themselves. You see, my boy, everyone thinks rogues are dumb and evil, but they're not. They know everything about royal families and how to use it. They gained a lot of money and properties for getting me back home safe. Your father, well he still is alive, if you're wondering. I know, I know, how can werewolf live for so long, right? Well, it's because of being mated to a vampire, I kinda shared my eternity with him, since I never accepted his rejection," I spoke quietly.

"And what about you? Why did you do it to her?" the unwanted question escaped my lips before I could stop it.

"Who is he?" Lukas asked, without moving from his place.

"King. Now, why did you do it?" I was eager to know the reasons behind his actions before trying to explain even more about my past.

"To save an innocent child. From the ruthless king..."
