Chapter fourteen
Chapter fourteen - Different breed
"You will not be punished for your anger, you will be punished by your anger."
[L U K A S]
I frowned, looking at both adults in front of me. Well, as adults as I can call them, I'm older than both of their ages put together, after all.
I sighed in defeat, as they kept their intense glazes on me.
"Alright, but it goes by my rules and my conditions only. If she won't agree, I'm out", I stared with seriousness in my voice, to what they just nod.
After a few more minutes of explaining myself and my decisions, which has to lead me to certain consequences, we heard the front door open.
I guess it's time...
Shortly after, we heard a sudden scream coming from the main floor of their mansion. Alpha and Luna rushed there instantly, leaving me alone. I took a few deep breaths, trying to understand myself. Am I ready? Should I go? Or should I just disappear and leave this whole situation in their own hands.
Sounds like a good plan, but unfortunately I can't.
I have to do it, or else she won't be able to find her happiness, leaving would be selfish, I just can't.
Their conversation got louder with each step I took closer to the living room. She was almost screaming, so instead of letting her rant out, I decided to cut her off and join their little chatter.
"I'll explain, on one condition", she turned her head towards my direction in inhumane speed. The Hell am I even thinking about, she's not exactly human, just partly. Her nostrils visibly widened, as she took in my scent and shivered. I would guess that her action was rather pleasant than not, but then again, I can't read her thoughts or notice much of emotions going on.
"What's your condition then?", she spoke up, questioning me. This time her facial features did show off emotions, I'd say she looked intrigued and rather excited.
"Reject me", I simply stated, shrugging my shoulders, as if it wasn't a big deal.
The thing is, it is a big deal. Deep down I hoped she would never agree to because even though I don't know her, I'm still fascinated by her. She's like forbidden fruit, my own, personal one. I want her, yet I know how wrong and selfish it would be. So I can't have her. Not now, not ever.
First, she looked taken aback, but soon she made sure to hide her state of shock, while her parents kept looking at me in disbelief.
"What's your full name, bloodsucker?", she asked, standing up and making her way to where I was standing. She looked so confident, power radiating off of her. At least now I know how it feels to be next to someone who's both parents are Alphas, it's kinda insane.
"Lukas Cole Williams", I gave her my full name. There's no turning back, I guess. Or she's just playing with me, which kinda seems like a possibility since she has this weird smirk plastered on her lips.
"I, Kato Valentino, reject you, Lukas Cole Williams, as my mate and refuse to be your beloved of choice. I refuse to gift your title of an Alpha or any ranks you would gain if ever standing by my side. I hope you rot in Hell", she smiled before collapsing right in front of me.
"I, Lukas Cole Williams accept your rejection and refuse any right to you as my chosen beloved".
Well, if I wasn't dead before, I sure am now, because this shit hurts.
She trashed on the living room floor for a couple of minutes, until her mark was gone. All that was left behind was nasty looking burnt spot above her collarbone. I stood there frozen, looking at her.
Her father took her on his arms and walked to the sofa, soon placing her fragile body on it. I can't help, but feel jealous, since deep down, I still have this feeling that I should be the one, in whose arms she's laying. It doesn't matter that he is her father, I can't change the weird ways I feel.
She looked up at me, obviously struggling with her thoughts.
"Why are you still here?", she hissed at me.
Instead of having an outburst, I crossed my arms in front of my chest and smirked at her.
"So... I guess you don't want those answers anymore, is that correct? I'll be on my way, it was a pleasure..", I didn't get to finish what I had on my mind when she yelled for me to stop in my mid-sentence.
"I want answers. Why did you do that to me? Just give me a legit reason why and you're free to go. I'll forgive you, I'll turn my back and act as nothing has happened. I'll forget", she half pleaded, yet I'm not an idiot, I could easily catch a hint of threat in her voice.
"Duty", one word left my lips as I narrowed my eyes and looked up at the ceiling. Yeah, not the best moment to admire the artwork on it?
"The fuck", she stood up faster than a bulled.
"Kato, language!", her mother suddenly spoke. Wow, I forgot her parents were still here, basically watching a live show of stupid drama.
"Sorry mom, I need more than just one-word answer", Kato explained herself.
"I'll give you the whole answer as short as I can. Do not interrupt me, do not ask more questions and most importantly - do not disrespect me", the more I sound like a complete dick, the more she hates me. She broke her little mate bound and now it's time for me to make sure that there's nothing, but hate left behind. It's for her safety.
"Excuse you? Do I need to remind you in who's territory are you?", she half laughed.
"Do I need to remind you that you are talking to more than a six centuries-old vampire who just simply doesn't give a fuck?", I rolled my eyes, her laughter instantly died. Not that I'm happy about it, I'd love to hear a bit more of it. Each time she laughs I want to smile. It's stupid, but that's how it is...
"Long story short, someone hired a vampire to kill you, I was on a patrol and had to protect you. While your father was busy fighting with certain someone, I ran after another attacker. Blah blah blah, vampires can't attack anyone, who bares other vampires mark, blah blah blah. It was nice to visit everyone, but now, I must go", I said last words as harsh as I could, hatred dripping from them and turned around. Leaving her house for good.
This is not a place for me.
I don't fit in. I don't fit in anywhere.
I don't belong here. I don't belong anywhere.
After all, I am a different breed.
