Chapter seven

Chapter seven - Not my cup of tea

"He might be crazy, he might be vile, Hell some might call him the Devil... But watch out, for you haven't met the one he's created."

As I entered the school lunchroom, everyone suddenly became quiet. I chose to ignore their reaction, just how I ignore everything else happening around here.
I grabbed a plate of food and made my way towards the only empty table across the room.

"Yo, Luke, bro!" I noticed Brent standing up and monitoring for me to join his table.
Instead of joining them, I just shrugged and sat down alone. I looked out of the window and once again zoomed out, thinking of how amazing it would be to stay in the forest, rather than being stuck in werewolf build trap for their pups.

Sound of people approaching me got me back to reality in an instant. I maybe tend to zoom out a lot, but that doesn't mean that my senses are dead. As a matter of fact, they're as sharp as never.

Brent and his minions sat down, everyone eyeing me curiously.

"Hey," Brent spoke, after clearing his throat.

"Hey," I answered coldly.

"Why didn't you join us?" he didn't hide his emotions any good, for sure, because there was the word "confused" literally stamped on his forehead.

"I enjoy my privacy," I shrugged him off, in the hope that he would get the hint.

"I'd suggest you think of it again, you see, since you're "the new guy," and you have more than just a mysterious attitude towards everyone. Well, you're "IT" now. Everyone's talking about you; we already accepted you in our group so... Enjoy being famous," he smirked while he spoke.

To be honest, I don't like this "being popular" thing. I want to stay unnoticed, always in the shadows. Hell, I shouldn't even be here in the first place.

Just as I was about to reply, the school's loudspeaker crackled, and someone cleared their throat, before the announcement.

"Dear students, it is my greatest pleasure to announce that after lunch, we shall gather in the school's training grounds to welcome my firstborn back to the pack. After all this time, we finally have our heir back. Be on your best behavior. Oh, and no sudden movements, you have been warned. Now, enjoy your food," Luna laughed cheerfully and turned off the speaker.

The whole room busted out in whispers and gasps. Hah, big deal, it's just Luna's child. I mean, I do respect the Luna, she's sweet and everything. Yet this school gossip drama is going to a new level now.

"I can't believe Kato is back. It's been eight years, I think", one of Brent's minions broke the silence between us.

"Yeah, that's about right, but I thought we had two more years," the other one added.

"Guys, what's the fuss around this Kato guy? Can't you just stay out of the drama and eat?", I laughed, and they all looked at me as if I just grew a second head out of nowhere.

Before I could ask do I have something on my face, they all busted out in laughter.

"Good one, bro," Brent said, holding onto his side.

"What? Seriously what? You're starting to piss me off, BRO", I made sure to make the 'bro' part sound aggressive and threatening.

"Kato isn't a dude, you fool," he suddenly spoke seriously.

"Yeah, Kato is our next-in-line Alpha and hopefully Brent's mate. I mean, in his dreams", Brent's friend spoke.

I kept observing them in disbelief.

"Explain," was my genius answer, as I leaned back in my chair and tapped my foot impatiently.

"Kato is a girl, our Alphas firstborn. There is a rumor that someone attacked her and Alpha sent her off to live in Antarctica, but nobody, besides Alphas family, really knows what has happened and where did she go", the other one explained.

I just nodded and kept quiet, taking in all the information I could reach here. Always observe your surroundings and people around you, always stay alert; my mentor's words sounded in my mind.

"Yeah and Brent hopes she's his mate, imagine how powerful he would become. Beta blood becoming Alphas mate. Sick. But unfortunately, he has forgotten that she's claimed. I mean not marked, but claimed, or at least that's what rumor says. Other than that, we don't know how she looks like or what is she. Alpha always has her under extreme security, and she never really left her home before they sent her off", the same guy spoke.

In an instant, Brent threw the plate of food at his friend and rushed out of the room, boiling in anger.
We all just laughed it off, still having our lunch, thankfully in complete silence now.

"There's a fight! There's a fight!" someone yelled and ran out of the room, everyone suddenly standing up and running after him.

I stood up slowly and placed a plate with dirty dishes to the counter, turning to both males next to me.

"Might as well have some fun," I smirked, and they both nod in approval.

"I'm James, and that's Derek, by the way. We're not allowed to introduce ourselves when Brent is around," the guy with red hair spoke.

I reached my hand for them and shook theirs.

"Lukas. Nice to meet you," I smiled at them.

"I think we just found a new leader in our group. No offense, but Brent tends to be a dick, while you don't care. Like at all. That's exactly what we need," James spoke and laughed.

"Nah, I'll pass dude, not my cup of tea. Now, how about we go and check what's happening? It might be Brent, who's in trouble, you never know. If so, we need to save his ass, I guess. That's what friends do, right?" both of them laughed, and we slowly made our way out of the lunchroom.

Overall this is alright, I guess. So far, so good, as they say.
