Chapter eighteen
Chapter eighteen - Level 13
"Anyone can give up, it's the easiest thing in the world to do. But to hold it together when everyone else would understand if you fell apart, that's true strength."
[L U K A S]
Drop by drop my blood crashed on the ice-cold tile floor. I lost the count after it was a thousand something...
So far I've come to conclusions that my biological father is an asshole, not that it would surprise me.
Level 13 cells didn't turn out to be exactly what I was expecting for, instead of the dark, rotten chamber behind bars it is completely the opposite.
White room with white tile floor, no windows, and double silver coated, massive metal door, which is supposed to keep me locked away.
As if...
Turns out that the old man has decided to lock me here so I could be a lab rat for his minion's experiments. See, that is what I didn't expect to happen. What makes everything even better is that I'm not the only "freak" on this particular lab wing.
I can sense at least three or ever four more half breeds, such as I am.
"Are you enjoying your stay so far?", the human scientist spoke up, having disgusting grin all over his face.
"I have, thanks for asking", my answer was cold, without any emotions or weaknesses shown.
"I can assure you, you won't enjoy it any longer from now on", he challenged me, stepping closer to my body, which was hanging from the ceiling.
"Oh, is that so?", I kept teasing him since the moment they threw me here. Testing his patience, let's see how far it goes.
"Freaks like you shouldn't be alive", he split in anger. Oh boo-hoo, little snowflake.
"Wow you look butt-hurt, I would give you a hug, but my hands are quite occupied, as you see", I smiled his way, showing off teeth. Each time, when I smiled this man shivered in fear. Maybe working under werewolves seems alright with him, maybe he could work under the supervision of Vampires even, but it sure as Hell triggers the old man, to see someone with fangs and canes at the same time. Well, ain't that bad luck for him.
"This will be over soon, don't get yourself worked up, David", he sighed and whispered, encouraging himself to step closer.
"Well, that's where you're wrong, Snowflake", I spit blood next to his feet, this time letting smug smirk to appear on my face.
"You see, maybe working under my father seems all roses and shit, but it won't last as long as you think", I added, letting my gaze travel over plain white walls.
"Hah, is that so? Care to elaborate? Because I don't think that some weak half breed idiot could even dare to challenge the werewolf, King. He is immortal, you dumb freak", out of nowhere a wave of confidence overtook him.
He was no longer the weak human scientist he was just moments ago, now he stood straight and weak aura of power radiated off from him.
I laughed. As loud as I could, my throat hurt like a bitch, yet I kept laughing. This man should become a comedian rather than a science geek.
"What are you laughing about, you imbecile?", he yelled, again, stepping closer.
Now there was only a few feet distance apart from us.
With one single swing, I broke the chains and landed on my feet. My gaze never left his terrified face, just how I like it. How I like to see them. The people, who enslaved me. Well, it's not like I didn't want to end up locked in one of his cells, but that's a story to tell for another time. The predator unexpectedly becoming prey. Poor little human.
"H-How?", he stuttered, looking at my, now free, wrists.
I stepped closer to him, he didn't budge. No, not out of courage, he was way too terrified to move. Frozen in place. I could feel it. His aura of fear gave it away, despite how brave he wanted to look, he was still nothing more than a coward.
"Well, well, well... What do we have here? Not as brave as you were, when I was a seemingly helpless little freak of nature, huh?", I smirked, still walking around him in circles.
He knew he couldn't run, even if he would try.
He was trapped under the eye of the beast and sudden movements wouldn't be his ally for now.
"Let me fill you in with little something-something details about your dear lab rat, will you?", he nodded his head, keeping his eyes wherever he wouldn't catch a sight of me.
I leaned closer to his ear and cleared my throat, which made him jump. Silly little rabbit.
"Isn't it quite obvious now, that I'm here because I want to be? Tell me, professor, how you keep locked down someone between a werewolf and a Vampire?", my voice was low, I didn't want him to have a heart attack, which seemed to be a big possibility since his heart rate was way too fast. That is, for humans, of course.
"I-I-I don't know. Silver? Garlic? I don't know", he stuttered, trying to come up with a genuinely good idea. Here's the proof that common sense isn't as common as you think, for sure.
"Silver, maybe, for clean bloodline wolves. Garlic? That's some fairytale bullshit prof. My granny used to make the best garlic soup, I tell you. When I was a child, I couldn't wait for the weekends, when she would come over and make some. I ate so much, I couldn't move for days", I laughed.
"But it's not like we're talking about my childhood, right? Not like you're my psychologist or anything near that. What we're talking about right now is your ideas on how to keep me locked here. I'm sure my father will make sure that you get rewarded for keeping his bastard son here", my body shook in anger, just by one thought of my father. I hoped to meet the man almost all my life. I learned to hate him when I found out about his doings not so long ago. The idea of him hurting my mother, of him throwing her out like a broken toy, of him, trying to kill her... It made my blood boil, I wanted revenge. But not now, not just now.
"I'm sure, yes. The King would..", he kept his gaze on his feet.
"There's a little, tiny problem there though. You can't figure out how to keep Werewolf/Vampire half breed here. So how would you keep one, who carries Royal bloodline from both of his parents, huh? It's funny because, my father, THE KING, happened to be mated to my lovely Vampire mother, the HEIR OF ROYAL THRONE. Now prof, how are you going to keep me here, huh?", I sniffed his neck, the blood rushing through his veins was tempting to be tasted. I haven't fed in a while, by feeding on him I would regain power much faster. But that's not what I wanted, that's not part of the plan.
"Do it. Just do it", he spoke through gritted teeth, ready to meet the Death.
"As if. Now chain me up again, they will be serving dinner in an hour", I smiled at him and returned in my place, raising my hands above my head.
The professor looked taken aback, by my sudden change of thoughts, but that's not my problem. He swallowed the lump, which has seemingly been stuck in his throat and nod. Carefully, he approached me, moving as slow as a snail.
"C'mon prof, I don't have all day for this bullshit", I barked, making him move faster.
With shaking hands he chained me back to the ceiling, still being in the state of shock.
"Now give me the red pills, they taste good", I winked at him. He kept observing me, even an idiot could notice that he was deep in the thoughts, confused and unsure of his actions.
Just a few more days, a few days...
Soon enough I'll have my chance to leave. Once and for all.
