Chapter twenty-six
Chapter twenty-six - A happily ever after?
"If you want real love, you will have to go through some pain."
[L U K A S]
Waking up with Kato in my arms is the best thing I have ever experienced. It's everything beyond perfection. Her peaceful body molding with mine. Her steady breath gently tickling my neck. Her messy hair all over the place, making her look even more beautiful than the day I laid my eyes on her. Who would have thought that by trying to save a life, I will gain such a blessing as her?
For the first time in centuries, I finally slept. Not just an hour or two in a couple of years, no, tonight I slept like a baby - all thanks to the beautiful woman, laying next to me. A slight smile crept on my lips, thinking of how our future might turn out. Would we have a family? I mean a real one, with kids. Would she want them? I would...
After looking at her for a while, now feeling like a maniac of some sort, I decided to get out of the bed and have a shower. Instead of using hers, I asked her mother where is the guest bathroom, which she gladly led me to. Surprisingly both of her parents are approving our possible relationship.
As soon as I got out of the shower, her father knocked on the bathroom door, asking to have a conversation with me in his office. I dressed up rather quickly and gladly joined him.
"Good morning, Lukas. Would you like a cup of coffee?" He asked me politely, gesturing towards the sofa and smiling at me.
"That would be nice, yes. Thank you."
We sat in silence until Luna joined us, with two cups of steaming coffee. She sat down on her mates lap and kept an intense gaze on me. This must be serious...
"Lukas. We would like to know what are your intentions," she spoke quietly.
"Excuse me?" I almost choked on my coffee. Are both of them thinking that I might be playing with her? Have they forgotten that I can mark only one chosen beloved? It's her or ending up alone. Hell, I would gladly stay alone for the rest of my life, if I could at least see her around. At least know that she's happy. Without me. With someone, who can make her a lot happier. Only if that's what she wants. If not, I'll swim over oceans if she will want me to, just to be with her. Just to have her by my side.
"Is this serious? I'm sorry, but we need to know. Kato is our baby, we want nothing, but the best for her and we have to know that you are determined to give her best," she looked at the Alpha and they both smiled instantly. That's the feeling I get whenever I'm around Kato. I can't seem to stop smiling.
"I want to marry her." I blurted out, mentally face-palming myself. This was supposed to be a secret. There goes the surprise.
"What about the King?" Now it was Kato's father, who questioned me.
"Oh, you mean my father? The old man is dead." I spoke casually, without any emotions within my words.
"What?" both of them half yelled.
"That's why I was gone. Spend some time with father, you know father-son bonding and all that. Found out the King hasn't been quite the ruler everyone needs and used my firstborn rights to challenge him. Since I'm his only child, he didn't have any option but to accept it. He lost. Pretty fast, if I must add," the words left my lips faster than bullets. I might have sounded like a mumbling kid, but the only important thing is that they do understand me.
Both of them opened and closed their mouths, deciding should they speak up or not. So instead of waiting for any more questions, I excused myself and asked them to go downstairs, promising to be there in five minutes.
I made my way to the room, where my beautiful beloved was sleeping. Slowly entering the bedroom, trying my best not to wake her up, I came face to face with the woman I love, in tears. I rushed to her instantly, wiping her tears away. She must have thought that I left. I'm such an idiot, such a selfish prick.
When I finally managed to calm her down, she gladly agreed to take a shower and meet me downstairs.
Let the plan begin.
I ran to the living room, finding her parents sitting on the couch.
"Hey," I greeted them and sat next to the Alpha.
Luna waved at me awkwardly and Alpha nodded his head.
"So you guys want to know how serious I am about your daughter, right?" now it's my turn to question them. Even though I had a feeling that both of them would start to mumble something or maybe even yell, they just nodded their heads in sync.
"So I get the blessings?" I raised an eyebrow.
Luna Valentino practically jumped over her husband as if he was an obstacle and crushed me into a hug, soon after her husband did the same. Both of them laughed and congratulated me for things I haven't done. Yet...
"Can you guys distract her for a couple of minutes, please? I have some errands to run, but I promise it won't be longer than an hour," at this point, I almost begged them.
"I'll distract her, Azrael you help the boy," Luna clapped her hands and stormed upstairs.
"So?" he smirked.
"So, now we have to get to the town and buy something," I smirked to what he nodded knowingly.
Truth to be told, both of Kato's parents are amazing. Her father might be rough around the edges, but he is trying to protect his only daughter. Her mother, she is a strong and wise woman, some might even fear her, but in all seriousness, she's a truly nice person. Caring and kind. Those are the main reasons why I like them both so much.
Her father gladly offered to drive, so I wouldn't need to focus on that, instead, I mentally prepared a whole list of things I might need for her surprise.
"Here goes nothing," I whispered to myself.
"It'll be alright. Don't stress, I'll try to help as much as I can. I'm not saying that I understand anything from things you want to do, my mate might be the best person for such activities, but you're stuck with me.," he mumbled and busted out in laughter. He better be right, or else I will embarrass myself on a whole new level. Oh Lord, help me out with this one, will you? I don't think that I could do this without any help...
