Chapter five
Chapter five - Home is where the heart is
"Don't think of the Devil as a little red man with horns and tail. He can be beautiful. Because he's a fallen angel, and he used to be God's favorite."
[R A V E N]
"Where's my red scarf, has anyone seen my Goddamn red scarf?" my hands kept shaking, while I violently threw pieces of clothing all over the bedroom.
"My love, you should take this easier, it's just a piece of fabric. Can't you chose any other?" Azrael sighed and wrapped his arms around my waist, pulling me into a tight hug. On any other occasion, I'd gladly hug him back and calm down, but not today. In a few hours, my little angel will come back home.
Not so little anymore, she has grown into a beautiful young woman, from what I've seen from photos the Lunar pack sent to us.
And that's what pisses me off the most. I haven't seen my child in person, nor have spoken to her in eight damn years.
"Let me go!" I growled at my mate. He instantly took his hands away from me, even though I missed his touch, I just smacked the back of his head and hissed.
"Ow, what was that for?" he rubbed the place, where my palm just landed and looked at me in disbelief.
"My baby is coming home; I have to look my best! All of you have, we can't put her in shame by being ugly or dirty! She has to love us, our home, pack! Oh, God, she has to love everything!" I yelled while my voice trembled. Any moment now, I could break down in tears. I have missed her so much, Azrael has missed her and Eli kept whining for his big sister since the day he learned to talk.
"She's my baby too," Azrael mumbled under his nose.
"The fuck you just said?" I growled. Don't get me wrong, I love this man, but I am her mother, I carried her around for months and endured a lot of pain for her to live. I am first in line to see her, hug her, and keep her safe. Moms rule!
"Uhum, I think your scarf is in the bathroom," and with that said, he just ran out of the bedroom as crazy. I chuckled at how childish this powerful man can be on certain occasions and made my way to the bathroom.
As I was thinking about how will this go, how will she feel, and how happy we are to become once again, I heard shouting from the downstairs.
"No! Mother, if you value your life, don't go up there! She's crazy, she's completely nuts, and she will kill someone today, I tell you!" my mate yelled.
I chuckled and looked around myself, trying to find a tiny piece of fabric that held so much importance. My little Kato drew hearts and wrote: "I love you mom" on that scarf, so that's the one I'll be wearing today. For her.
"Luna, can Alphas mother come in?" suddenly, a gentle woman's voice spoke next to me.
"Of course, Abby, you may be free for the rest of the day," I turned around and gave her reassuring smile.
She bowed and left my room, asking Azraels mother to come in.
"Ah, my lovely Ren, gorgeous as ever," she smiled and hugged me. I didn't hesitate to hug her back; she has been like my mother during this difficult time. She has been my rock, my support. I genuinely love this woman with all my being, but so does everyone in the pack. I swear to Moon Goddess herself; this woman is too good to be true.
"It's a pleasure to see you, mom. Ready to meet your granddaughter?" I smiled at her.
"Hell, yes! Did you found the scarf? I'm sure she will be happy to see you still wearing it," she cupped my cheek, and I leaned into her touch.
"Don't worry, child, she will love you; she will love everyone here. She's your flesh and blood, Kato has never stopped loving her family and never will. Take a deep breath, and let's get your hair done properly, or we will be late."
I sighed and wrapped a tiny scarf around my neck. It still suited me. Even though my heart was racing like crazy, somewhere deep down, I had a feeling that everything is finally getting back in its places. Kato is coming home.
"Oh my sweet child, don't you cry," my mate's mother suddenly spoke, wiping my tears away. I didn't notice how I started crying.
"I'm just thrilled and excited," I whispered.
With that said, our bedroom door flew open. In the doorway stood my mate, breathing heavily, barely holding his anger.
"Why is she crying?" he growled.
"Mother, I love you, but help me God if you hurt her," he spoke through gritted teeth, obviously pissed off.
"Will you calm down for once? She's happy, let a woman have her moment! And now, shoo- shoo, go get Eli dressed up, we have some things to do here," his mother half laughed.
"You're breathtaking, as always," he said and sent me a wink. I giggled to myself as he left the room. All these years and he's still the same lovesick puppy he has been since the day I punched Colleen. Matter of fact, maybe I should finally apologize for that.
"Just a few more minutes, try not to cry anymore, or you'll ruin your makeup," she whispered to me.
I nodded in approval and bit my lower lip. I don't feel like talking; at this moment, I need to get myself together and keep calm.
Suddenly, the way too familiar loud steps sounded throughout the hall.
It was Azrael, very pissed off Azrael.
Someone tried to talk to him, but after that, all that happened was him growling at people or just pushing them against the walls.
"Ren, mother, I must apologize, but I can't join everyone to pick up Kato from the airport," he sighed.
"We're leaving in about an hour, you're sure you won't make it?" his mother asked.
Azrael's eyes lit up as if he was a child who just saw a Christmas tree for the first time in his life.
"I'll make it — just a few rogues on Northern border. I'll be right back, my love", he said and kissed my temple.
"Oh well, I guess I'll go and dress up the little monster myself," his mother rolled her eyes and laughed.
"You know, if you tell him that mom is about to give him some belly rubs, he will be as calm as never," I winked at her and went downstairs.
I guess some coffee would be helpful now. I was so worried and excited all day long that I forgot about breakfast or coffee at all.
Some of the pack's warriors stood in the kitchen, all dressed up for their Alphas heir arrival.
We chatted a bit, laughed, and enjoyed the calming atmosphere. Of course, like any other pack, we had our set of laws, and each wolf held their rank, yet we treated everyone equally, like family we are.
I was about to leave the kitchen when one of the warriors growled.
"Hide the Luna, take women and children to the safe house," the other yelled.
"What the..." was all I got to tell before the front door of our house flew open.
I was about to shift, to protect my family and pack when all too familiar scent hit my nostrils. I gasped and ran in front of the warriors, instantly wrapping my arms around the stranger, pulling her into the tightest hug ever.
"Мама," she whispered, and we both broke down in tears. (Mom)
"Oh my God, I've missed you so much," I whispered into her hair, still holding her close, fearing that she might disappear from my arms.
"Surround the house; don't let anyone leave. If something happens to my family, all of you are as good as dead," I heard my mate roaring in anger. Hah, they let her slip through their fingers. Just now, I understood how grown and strong she has become.
"Shut the fuck up, Azrael!" I yelled, tears still steaming from my eyes.
"Better get your ass here and welcome your pup home," I sobbed.
I didn't expect him to appear so fast; he stood in the crashed door frame and gasped.
"Baby girl," he whispered.
Kato got out of my grip and ran to her father, jumping into his arms.
"Папа," she whispered against his neck, sobbing and trembling as she used to when she was little.
"You've grown so much, beating your old man is his own game," he laughed loudly.
"Where's Eli?" Kato finally spoke.
"KATO! KATO! KATO!" out of nowhere, my son appeared and ran to his sister. They held each other as if their lives would depend on it. As if this was more as a goodbye than seeing each other once again situation.
"How's my little next-in-line Alpha has been?" Kato giggled and asked her little brother.
Azrael and I stood next to them both like dumbfounded. Smiles on or lips, yet both of us confused as never.
"Baby girl, what are you talking about?" Azrael finally broke the silence.
"Mom, dad. We have to talk about something severe," she finally said, still holding her brother in her arms. Her eyes held sadness, whatever kept bothering her - it was severe.
Whatever is about to come, I'm sure we can get through it, because finally, she's home and back in the family. From now on, everything will change, and nothing will break us apart.
