Chapter 50

When General Singhalese woke up, he had been dragged by Aaron by the collar for more than ten minutes.
He silently looked down at his almost worn out pant leg, not really wanting to admit that he woke up in pain.
He struggled a bit and felt a little pain in the back of his head.
Aaron's hands sank under him, and thinking that he had tripped over a stone while dragging, he dragged a little harder forward, cutting through a small string of stones.
General Singhalese only felt a cold buttock, face were held red, a good pair of pants were scratched to show the buttocks.
Then, he heard a soft female voice.
"As you said before, although Singhuri is just a small, remote city in the eyes of most people, it is actually not that far from the king's capital, it is only the location where it is located is not very good, and there are no rich resources, which is why it was artificially abandoned."
Sophia heard the cry that was crushed in her throat, and her eyes lowered as she looked at General Singhuri, who was playing dead.
"I can probably see where they're coming from." Sophia said in a slow voice, "This is a barrier that connects the witch clan, and when the royal family placed their men here, they were also buried by others as pawns, it seems that our General Singuri is not at all hearted about his homeland, and specially asked for orders to come back and station himself, just to open this barrier for some people at the right time."
"He doesn't love the people here at all."
"You bullshit!"
General Singuri, who had been playing dead, struggled to curse angrily and almost didn't jump up when Aaron backhanded him to the ground and coldly threatened, "Can you talk?"
General Singhuri swallowed back the curse that was on his lips and said stiffly, "You don't know anything, so who are you to say such things?!"
"Is that so?" Sophia smirked and crouched down to look at him, "But you were originally a traitor planted by the rebels, who opposed the Wolf Clan and always wanted to destroy it, so how could you be different?"
General Singuri wanted to impulsively spit out what he was holding in his heart, but in the end, he stared at her in silence without saying anything, his eyes flickering frequently, a difficult choice.
After a few moments, he took a long breath and said decadently, "Let go of me, I won't run."
Aaron hesitated for a moment before finally believing General Singhuri's words and letting go of the hand that was controlling him.
General Singhuri hand propped up on the ground, was going to stand up, a touch of the buttocks, empty, simply sat back down.
"I was never part of the rebels in the first place, and I have no intention of destroying the wolves, I love my homeland and my family very much." His voice was a little choked, "Very much."
Sophia sat quietly and was picked up whole by Aaron and placed on his lap, she had to hug his neck in a submissive manner.
General Singuiri felt no eyes, continued, "I served in the palace two years ago, I was the one who saw that coup with my own eyes, I can never forget that scene, it was like a feast of blood."
Aaron's face changed. Eyes locked on his face, looking at the scar that ran halfway across his face from the corner of his forehead, trying to find the slightest fragment of him in his memories.
"Your Majesty, you may not remember, I was one of the few who escaped by escorting you, and the only one left alive, there were many guards in the palace, and I am in this state now, it is normal that you do not remember me."
He touched the scars on his face.
"When I was separated from you, I was lying on my back among the dead, thinking I was dead, but they didn't find me, I couldn't find you, so I had to sneak into the army, and when the Wiccans sneaked into Singhalese, I returned home and heard that my family had escaped mixed with the fleeing people and was missing."
"I was promoted to general, but I wasn't happy at all. Later, when the witch tribe was beaten back, I asked for orders to return to Sin Valley, and just as I was returning to Sin Valley, the rebels approached me." His smile was bitter.
"I was a coward, they captured my family and asked me to work for them, I love my family so much, I want to save them, no matter what the cost." He said firmly.
"Even if that price is to turn your beloved Singhalese into a purgatory on earth?" Sophia asked rhetorically.
"It won't!" General Singuri said seriously, "They promised me that they would never endanger Singuri as long as I helped them kill the king."
"You believe them?" Sophia laughed mockingly, "Believe the words of these traitors who are wolves but want to overthrow the wolf clan, believe these people who hurt your family?"
"My family will be safe as long as I do as I'm told." He said stubbornly.
"General, for the sake of your family and hitching a ride on the entire Wolf Clan, you really won't regret it?" Sophia said softly, "The first half of your life, for your faith, for your wolves, and for your homeland, you put your life on the line to fight, your family must be proud of the honor you gained, would they like to see you do such a betrayal of the wolf clan for their sake?"
General Singuiri was stunned for a moment.
"General, if the rebels do win and our clan is slaughtered, you may not care, what about your family, in their dreams every night, won't they see those who died in their place because they had to live? Won't they feel the pain?"
"Are you really willing to let you and your family live like that for the rest of your life?"
"I don't want to." He murmured.
"But how do you want me to bear to watch my family die." He sniffled, his eyes red, "I know there's no excuse to shirk my responsibility, I hesitate every moment. But I have too much to let go of, Your Majesty, if you had to choose between the queen and the country right now, what would you choose?"
"He would choose the country." Sophia made the choice for him without hesitation, but General Singhuli only looked at Aaron and waited for him to make his choice.
Aaron's hand circling Sophia's waist tightened violently, and he lowered his head so that Sophia could not see his expression, but could only feel his body tense momentarily.
She took his hand in hers.
"I choose the country." Five minutes later, Aaron looked up in silence and spat out each word clearly through clenched teeth, "For the sake of all my people, and so as not to disappoint those I care about."
And then at the end of the day, I will leave after the people I love.
General Singhalese's straight back was hunched down, as if he had declined a lot in an instant.
He smiled with relief and threw his hands to himself two slaps, as if waking up from a big dream.
"You are right, I am a cowardly and despicable person, I do not deserve the love of my people, I failed them."
"I didn't know why they had to control me before, and then I did." General Singuri's expression suddenly became serious and his voice lowered a bit, "Shortly after you took back the throne, the leader of the rebels changed, that leader was related to the coup two years ago, they were afraid that the people left behind at that time would recognize that leader, they wanted to kill me, but later changed their mind for some reason."
"He may still remain in the palace now; you must be careful."
Something to do with the coup two years ago.
These words were like a thunderbolt that struck into Aaron's heart, and the shock and anger in his heart could not be controlled, and it all appeared on his face.
Sophia was worried and quietly ran her hand over his back.
She didn't think that a random arrest could be linked to the deepest nightmare in Aaron's heart.
"So you know who it is?" Aaron gritted his teeth and said arduously.
"I don't know." General Singuri shook his head, "Their fears were completely superfluous, the scene was so chaotic, how could I possibly remember every person who appeared in the palace."
"There is one more thing." He glanced at Sophia and said with a bitter smile, "I lied to them, the order I received was not to assassinate the king, but to find an opportunity to kill the queen."
"I understand what losing mate means to a werewolf, and I couldn't do it to a woman, Your Majesty, I bet the lives of my family." He smiled, "If anything happens to me, please make sure you catch the betrayer who is hiding behind the curtain."
As if he had figured something out, he patted his buttocks and stood up, stretching his upright form, and the aura around him became reassuring, just like the valiant general on the battlefield back then.
Aaron almost subconsciously let go of Sophia and stood up, calling out to him, "You're going back?"
General Singhalese turned his head and smiled at him, "I've done a lot wrong, this is the only compensation I can do."
"I secretly gave the news of your presence here to your scouts in Singhuri, your army should already be on their way here, there is an information station an hour or so further down this road, it is not infiltrated by rebels, I will stop them for you, please make sure you go back safely."
"You are the one everyone watched grow up, how could I possibly do something that would endanger our youngest prince."
He smiled, "I want to try one more time for myself, Your Majesty, if I succeed, can I ask you to forgive my family?"
He didn't wait for Aaron's response and turned around decisively to leave.
Aaron looked at the familiar back, and an image of the same figure flashed through his mind, also a stalwart back, resolutely and alone, leading away from the pursuing enemy.
The figure turned back and Aaron got a good look at his face, the same silhouette, only missing the scar that ran halfway across his face.
"Wilson."
He called out after the voice in his memory, as if it contained a raging storm.
Wilson looked back at him as deeply as he had that time, and set off on the path from which he might never return.
Sophia waited silently behind her, waiting for Wilson's figure to fade away, waiting for Aaron to take her hand again and pull her towards the information station an hour away.
"I'm going to find that guy." Aaron held her hand tightly, his voice cold, "I will put an end to this nightmare once and for all."
"I will save all those who are trapped by this nightmare!"
Sophia ran after him and looked back to see that there was nothing left to see.
"Do you believe what he said?" Her voice was a little strained.
Aaron turned back in the night, his blonde hair blown back in disarray.
"I'm not believing him, he saved my life once, this time I'm returning the favor, that information station, I know it too, let's go check out the situation first."
After they left Singhalese, they didn't encounter another killer and got to the information station he said without any problems.
It was a small house hidden, like a forest keeper's small house.
The real information station was hidden underground in the house.
The intelligence officer quickly identified them, received Aaron into the basement and protected him.
"We will send someone to inform the army right away, please rest here for a while." The intelligence officer said respectfully, not looking up to survey these two people in the highest position.
They were taken to a lounge that was separately partitioned.
As soon as he sat down, Aaron closed his eyes wearily, the continuous intense concentration was easy to break one's spirit.
Sophia sat beside him and gently wrapped her arms around his waist from behind, pressing her face, which was a little cold in the wind, to his back.
"It's going to be okay."
Aaron took her hand in his and kissed her forehead gently on the side.
Sophia looked gentle, pulling him down and letting him rest on her soft lap, her soft little hands covering his eyes, coaxing him with the softest voice.
"You haven't had a good rest for a long time, let me stay with you and take a nap."
"I'm not sleepy."
Aaron said not sleepy, but did not remove her hand, from two years ago that is, coveting her warmth.
Sophia played a rare little game.
"If I say you're sleepy, you're sleepy. Keep your eyes closed, and don't open them until I say so."
Aaron obediently closed his eyes.
In the darkness, his lips were touched by a piece of softness for a brief moment, and then he heard Sophia's gentle voice.
"This is a reward for you."
