Chapter 51
Aaron didn't know when he sank into the dream world.
He had long dreams, like clips from camera photography, intercepted one by one, and tying everything together from the past.
He dreamed of his parents dying, gagged and pinned behind a dark door, watching hot blood poured into a cup as they drew his family's blood for fun.
What an ugly face that was.
He dreamed that he was being dragged out of the house and that the people around him were being killed one by one.
He dreamed of Wilson's back as he determinedly drew his enemies away, of guards standing in his way, having their throats torn out by sharp claws until they died, one eye unclosed.
He dreamed of the day he rushed to the throne, when he killed his enemy with his own hands, watched his own uncle's blood pour all over the throne, watched him fall without a sound on the throne, his head torn off his neck.
He did not have the joy of revenge, but only felt empty and uninteresting in his heart.
He has been having this nightmare repeatedly for two years, revenge is not relief, those past events are still a layer of indelible shadow on his heart, along with him year after year to breed darkness.
Until the day he found Sophia again.
He had that nightmare again, but this time it was different. When he was struggling in the sea of blood, a hand held him from behind and was so warm.
He turned around and Sophia was standing behind him, smiling at him, taking him into her arms and healing the wounds on his heart little by little.
She is the lover and the salvation.
Aaron woke up from the warmth, lying on a simple wooden bed, without Sophia by his side.
He woke with a start and rushed out of the lounge without Sophia in sight.
He scrambled up from the basement and saw Sophia sitting and talking with Selina, picking her up in a hug and holding her tightly as his heart slowly settled.
"What's wrong?" Sophia sensed his uneasiness and patted his back gently.
Selina was standing right next to him, looking at him with her arms held in a cold and sullen manner.
"I'm fine." Aaron let go of her and took her hand in his.
He looked out and the army was stationed nearby, patrolling in an orderly fashion.
"I've mobilized all the troops within my authority that I can, and the various wolf packs have received orders to start clearing out the traitors, shall we go back to the royal capital now?" Selina stood next to him and asked in a low voice.
"No." Aaron slowly shook his head, his gaze coldly looked towards the Xin Gu Li not far away, "Order it down, the army drive to Xin Gu Li and clear the traitors."
"I understand."
......
Today was destined to be a day they would never forget for the people of Xingu Li.
It began with the discovery of General Singhuri, who was hanging from a tall gatehouse.
A few minutes later, the king's army descended on Singhalese and blocked the gates of Singhalese.
Aaron stepped into the Singhalese territory again and looked up at the most beautiful building, the residence of the general.
Just a glance, and froze in place.
Wilson was tied and hung by the wrists, bright red blood sliding down his cheeks, bloody, mixed with the blood flowing from the wounds all over his body, drop by drop smashed on the ground, staining it red and smashing into Aaron's heart.
His eyes were tightly closed, not knowing if he was dead or alive.
Like a hanging provocation.
Aaron's eyes were red, and without ordering his subordinates, he took one step closer to Wilson, put him down, and looked at his face, which was whiter than snow-white paper.
Wilson's eyelashes twitched slightly, and he slowly opened his eyes, a chaos in them.
"Your Majesty." His voice was faint, with a hard, breathy tone.
"They lied to me." Tears of despair slipped down from the corners of his eyes, and the man, who was nearly forty years old, finally couldn't help but cry out in despair with his last strength.
"They lied to me! They lied to me! ......"
His desperate cries infected everyone present, and they felt the grief that came from the heart.
Wilson cried and cried, coughing up blood from the corner of his mouth, a mouthful more than a mouthful, how could not wipe it off, how could not swallow it.
He grabbed Aaron's wrist.
"Your Majesty, my family, long gone, what I've seen in the past two years, it's all a lie, all a lie."
He grabbed his wrist so hard that he seemed to use all his strength, but he couldn't even squeeze out a single mark.
Wilson spat out word by word with difficulty.
"Your Majesty, revenge! My revenge, our revenge, for all the brothers and people who died, kill them, kill them!"
Aaron looked down at him, his eyes calm without a ripple.
"I will."
Wilson heard his answer and took off all his strength, he looked up at the blinding sunlight, his hand holding Aaron's wrist dropped.
Aaron flattened him down and took off his jacket and covered his face.
Everyone watched them wordlessly, watching a life go from fresh to silent, seeing the ruthlessness of the enemy and the determination of the king.
Aaron stood up, swept his gaze over all the soldiers, and bellowed, "Search Singhalese immediately, don't spare every corner, and turn out those executioners!"
"Yes!" The soldiers shouted in unison and ran to every corner of the city in an orderly manner, silently carrying out the task explained by the king.
They stayed in Sin Valley for a day and turned the city over, finding only a few rebels' men, but unfortunately none of them were important.
Aaron had Wilson buried on a hill outside Singhalese, from where he could see the whole city when he looked down, and Wilson could continue to watch over the city and guard it even after his death.
Look at his favorite hometown.
Aaron left some men to continue to be stationed in Singhalese, waiting for the arrival of the man who would take over as the garrison general, but for the whole of Singhalese, their Singhalese general, there will always be only that one man.
They got into the carriage at Selina's urging and hurried back to the king's capital.
The first thing you need to do is to get a good idea of what you want to do.
Selina pushed open the car door and saw Sophia looking down at Aaron, her eyes full of tenderness and affection.
"Aren't you going to take a nap?" She asked softly.
Sophia shook her head.
Selina's heart softened and she sighed slightly, handing her the wet towel in her hand, gesturing for her to wipe her face.
"Your heart is too soft, you always grieve for strangers, too much empathy is sometimes not a good thing."
Sophia's fingers gently rubbed against Aaron's face and whispered, "If only I could share a little of his grief, but some hurts are not meant to be replaced, I can only accompany him in his pain and let him know he is never alone, there is still me, I am always by his side."
Can not accompany him happy, but will accompany him with sadness and grief.
Selina was speechless, silent for half a day, suddenly said: "By the way, there is something I have to tell you."
Sophia cast a puzzled look at her.
"We saved your sister and brother-in-law at the edge of the cliff, but we went a little late, they were badly injured, and they still haven't woken up, they have been sent back to Meta Moon."
"Oh." Sophia responded flatly, not making any comment.
"Just, oh?" Selina was a bit dumbfounded.
She hadn't inquired about Sophia's family, so she didn't know that she and Susan had fallen out.
Sophia gave her a funny look and added, "It's good that they're not dead, I still have a lot of scores to settle with them."
Sophia told Selina what Susan had done and what they had encountered, and Selina only made one comment after hearing it.
"I should have known not to save them."
Sophia laughed and didn't say anything.
Aaron didn't sleep long before he woke up, and the first thing he did when he woke up was to ask Nick.
Selina told him that Nick had been seriously injured by a rebel attack while he was out looking for them, and had been sent back to the royal capital; he had been rescued but was still in a coma and hadn't woken up.
He tried to contact Nick again, and he didn't expect to get in touch.
"He's awake." Aaron said.
What a coincidence.
They had just gotten out of danger, and Nick woke up.
"Are you worried about the traitor hiding in the palace?" Sophia asked.
Aaron nodded.
"I have to be careful, whoever it is." He clenched his fists, "The slayer from two years ago, shouldn't be alive."
He paused suddenly, an odd look crossing his face.
"Nick, the Beta I found after I ascended the throne, belongs to me, right after the coup." With that, he shook his head again, "Maybe I'm just being paranoid, go back and investigate."
They returned to the palace as fast as they could, silencing all the chatter.
Selina temporarily stayed at the palace and personally supervised the security of the palace.
As soon as Aaron returned, he didn't have time to rest before he started setting up the purge of the traitors. A letter from the group was sent to him without giving him a chance to catch his breath, and he stayed in the council chamber every day to deal with political affairs.
Sophia was worried.
Her worries were not unreasonable. Aaron's accumulated injuries broke out after several days of sleeplessness, along with the fever and illness, which finally made him collapse.
Sophia walked into the bedchamber wearing a long black dress and a cup of warm water in her hand.
In the center of the bedchamber was a tub big enough to sit two people, and the hot, thick liquid in the tub was tumbling. Aaron was lying on the side of the tub, frowning, looking disgusted with the smell.
Sophia handed him the quilt, picked up the pills sitting on the table, poured two of them and handed them to him, watching him take them.
"Does it still hurt?" She asked in a soft voice.
The bucket of liquid was so potent that the only side effect was that it hurt a little when soaking.
"Much better." Aaron looked at the time, "It's about time, I'm going to take a shower."
With that, he stood up from the bucket, naked to Sophia, who caught a glimpse of his still-unawakened giant underneath.
Her face flushed a little.
The next second, her eyes were drawn to the scars crisscrossing his body.
He had a great body, standard eight-pack abs, skin not as white as Sophia's, and a very explosive looking muscular body.
But now this body was covered with horrible wounds.
