A taken aback Chad came to settle on top of me, pulling my arms away so he could lift me from putting Rebecca through undeserved hell.
He finally succeeded in so doing, getting me to stand to my feet while she'd been screaming her ass off the while time. "Calm down Nikki!" He snapped in shock.
I wiped my mouth harshly and watched as she tried to stand to her feet. That caused me to act reflexive and charge towards her one more time.
"She's a demon!" She yelled on the top of her lungs. Chad managed to get a hold of me one more time. He was smart enough to hold me in place.
"Rebecca, I think you should leave." He cautioned her.
"Excuse me?" She gasped, taken aback by his suggestion. "I'm your fiancee, she should be the one to leave, how can you side this mere secretary?"
I grunted loudly in Chad's hands, trying my best to pull free from his hold but he clearly wasn't having any of it. He possesed a strong grip while she flinched in reaction to my grunt.
"Rebecca I really think you should leave, you know what, I'll call you later, just go." Chad amused me by taking my side. I had no idea why he did what he was doing but I wasn't complaining.
"If you go down this path, I swear you'll regret it." She warned, her eyes widened. It was hard to depict whether she was talking to me or was concentrating on Chad.
When she saw that no help was forthcoming on her side, she turned around to leave angrily.
Soon, she was out of the office and it was only then that Chad let go off me.
"What got into you?" He snapped as soon as we were alone.
"Excuse me, she gave me a knock on the head!" I rubbed the spot harshly. "This isn't the first time she's been a bitch with the matters that involve me. She isn't my boss, I'm sorry if you two are in love or something but she has no right to control me like that." I warned.
He calmed at my reaction and shook his head. "Very well then. I apologize on her behalf."
"Why are you suddenly being so nice to me?" I crossed my arms across my chest. I thought I deserved some sort of explanation for his weird act.
"I'm sorry, what?" He glared.
I shook my head fast and turned to my office, "so we'll pretend like the image thing never happened?" I asked with hopeful conviction.
"Yes, we will." He turned to sit on his desk, giving me the grace to smile to myself like the idiot that I was.
I hurried out of his office and did a little victory dance once I was certain we were no longer on harsh terms.
This had to be the best day at work for me. Nothing else could feel better, I was certain.

It was finally time to leave for home. Chad and I had no physical contact after the incident in his office with Rebecca.
I packed my things and wondered if I had to tell him first that I was leaving. Deciding it would only be sensible to talk to him about it, I went to his office.
"I'm leaving now." I poked my head inside, leaving the rest of my body outside since the door had been left open.
"Good thing you're here. I want to talk to you, please come in." Shit. I cussed mentally, but walked into the office regardless. I took a seat directly opposite from him.
Rather than speak, he stared blankly at me. It happened for too long and so I distracted myself from the uncomfortable scene by looking everywhere except at him.
"Um, sir? Are we in some sort of staring contest?" I was pushed to query. I had better things to do at home like sleep and eat, and keep up with television shows.
"Come to my house tonight. Eight o clock." He said. So he'd been waiting for me to talk first before proceeding. Interesting.
"Oh, o...okay?" I gulped. I wanted more than that. I needed further explanation but what choice did I have? He was the boss and I was the apprentice.
"Is that all?" I wondered aloud.
"Yes, that's all." He nodded in affirmation.
I stood to my feet, taking it as my cue to leave.
Chad was a strange man and I knew it would take a while but I would eventually figure him out.

I was only a few minutes away from the house when I noticed the presence of a few people standing in front of my apartment door.
"Okay, what's going on?" I questioned no one in particular.
"You're just about to find out." One of the men with a weird accent responded, yanking my hand and putting one hand over my mouth.
