Cole must have thought he had heard wrong because he stared at me like I had grown three more heads. I wished he would understand how uncomfortable he was making me, and just give me a straight answer. I looked at everywhere in the room except from him.

"Nikki, what are you saying?" He shook his head in response, finally speaking. "I mean…" he stepped backwards, scratching the back of this head in a nervous manner. "I don't have feelings for you, it would just be taking advantage of you." He said.

Hurt flashed through my eyes with a gasp to accompany it. How could he say that? Did I think he had feelings for me in the first place? So many endless things ran through my mind all at once, I felt myself shatter from the inside. It was indescribable.

"Look, I'm so sorry, I don't mean to hurt your feelings, it's just…" he looked like he hadn't planned on saying the words out loud.

I cut him off, folding my arms across my chest. "It's just you didn't think you were taking advantage of me when you fucking kissed me! You left work, drove to my house and…" I tried to point things out, hoping he would accept it as it came.

"And that makes you think I have feelings for you?" He did a great job with interrupting me this time. "Nikki you aren't my type." He added the latter part intentionally, just to irritate me.

"Why did you kiss me then?" I brought my voice to a low whisper.

"I… I just, it's nothing, I thought maybe you liked it." He shrugged. I did like it, but I wasn't willing to admit that part to him. He was a block head for rejecting my offer in the first place.

"Well you don't just go around kissing people because you think they might like it, that whole concept is wrong and you need a change of mentality." I reminded him, pointing my thumb in the direction of the door, "I think you have overstayed your welcome, you can leave now." I said with action, acting like I was unaffected by the entire scenario.

"I'm sorry Nikki, I don't understand. Are you getting mad at me because I won't have sex with you?" I watched a smirk tingle on his lips and that drew my eyebrows into a frown.

"Are you…" I groaned rather than finishing the statement. "That's not the point. You're getting the whole thing wrong!" I clenched my fists with flexed elbows.

"Then what is the point?" He cared to ask. "Hmm, tell me?" He shook his head.

"Just go!" I rolled my eyes, "come on, out now." I snapped at him.

"Does this mean you'll come back to work?" He wondered, still keeping up with his smirk.

"I don't work for you anymore." I turned around, hastened my steps and stopped in front of him. "And you know what," I poked my index finger against his chest, "that permits me to say what I've always wanted to. Fuck you Chad. Fuck you hard." I snapped at him, waiting for a reaction.

There was no emotion on his face when he added, "you're cute."

I ignored his remark, blushing internally. He took his leave without further argument. I slammed the door after him, opening it and slamming it a second time to create the effect I wanted.

After Chad left, I sat on the couch to ponder on his words. I stood to my feet with a groan, "ugh, fuck you Nikki, you're such a blabbermouth."

"Have sex with me? So you, so cheap." I shook my head. It was so typical of me anyway and if only Chad had an idea of how embarrassed he had gotten me to be.

I stayed clear from the thoughts of his presence in the room. I wished he wouldn't have come by.

"Stupid come back to work request," I scoffed, going to the kitchen so I could prepare dinner in advance, just anything to get my head off it.

Soon enough, I was blending a mix of food I had never tried before I knew I had to be careful with my spending, especially now that it was official, I was no longer in charge of the wealth I had acquired from the office.

"This is bad." I groaned to myself, letting go of the blender, putting one hand on my waist and craning my head up to drive myself in my thoughts.

I walked to the cabinet, slid it open and the first thing that fell out was a glass cup, "now how did you get up there?" I flinched, moving aside to avoid any scratching or bruising.

I picked the broom in a corner and swept it away from sight, making sure to clear every source my eyes could find.

Once the food was on the stove, I went back to the living room so I could watch some television.

The minute I turned it on, the program was interrupted by breaking news. I was about to change the channel when the sense of familiarity crept in.

I widened my eyes. It was the route I took from my home to work.

I jumped to my feet at the sight of the terrible accident scene, cars crushed against themselves, people crowding the scene.

Chad!" I gasped, searching for my phone and calling him as fast as I could. "You better be safe from this accident." I swallowed.

His phone number was unreachable. They were live at the scene and the ambulances were zooming off with the affected citizens. There was no way he could have been involved in an accident that quick, I had just seen him a couple of minutes ago.

I sucked my breath in and hoped for the best.

"Oh Chad, you know you have to be safe." I ran to the stairs to change into a different outfit.

"You should have just agreed to have sex with me otherwise none of these would have happened!" I yelled to none in particular, grabbing my house keys and running out of the house on top speed.
