Chad did not overreact like I had expected. I thought he was going to go over the board and drag Cornelius for his obliviousness but rather, he pulled me by the waist and drew me closer to him. I was startled but I chose to play along. I almost rolled my eyes at this dramatic man when he went as far as add, “Come on Nikki, let us go home now.”

I had no chance to say my goodbye to Cornelius but I had to wonder how someone could be so oblivious to call a man with such an extravagant appearance, a driver.

As I slipped the seatbelt around me, I had to ask Chad who was focused on pulling us out of there. “Why did you come to my place of work?” I was definitely not expecting his presence.

“Who was that man?” He asked with an ugly frown on his face, deviating the subject of discussion.

“You are not going to ignore my question. Don’t think I’m answerable to anything you have to ask just because you are a man.” I reminded him. Our relationship had graduated from the boss to worker term and I felt like he was supposed to refrain from all forms of dominancy by now.

He started the car engine and turned to look my way, raising one eyebrow at me. “Why are you suddenly bringing genders up?” He sighed when there was no further response from me. “I came because you texted me that you were no longer going to Tom’s so I thought I could surprise you with a private ride and maybe just hang out somewhere for a little while before it is actually time for you to go home.” He said, explaining like he was some innocent child.

“That was nice but I would honestly appreciate it if you told me beforehand next time. I know you have such good intentions but I’m really not a fan of surprises like that.” I said, closed my eyes and reopened them with a sigh, “I’m sorry if I sounded rude, I just didn’t like how possessive you sounded with wanting to know who I was with.” I told him sincerely.

“You are right. I’m sorry too, I should not be too inquisitive.” He added with a friendly smile and put one hand on my thigh and zoomed into the road. I loved it when people acknowledged their mistakes so I was particularly satisfied with it.

“He is my senior. Helped me get through today literally.” I felt comfortable with giving him an answer now. “I’d rather you dropped me at home, I need to change my clothes and prepare for work tomorrow.” I heaved a sigh after some deep thoughts.

"You can wear one of my clothes." He suggested, raising an eyebrow at me, his focus on me while he tried not to distract himself from the road at the same time. I wished he would drive in silence.

"I mean to work tomorrow." I clarified.

"You are still mad at me?" He sighed in defeat and I shook my head in response.

"Of course not, I wasn't in the first place." I rolled my eyes and looked out the window. "Alright fine, we could hang at your place for a while and then you'll take me home."

I turned to look at him and noticed the smile on his face. I shook my head and only smiled.

We got to Chad's place after a few minutes on the road and he had thankfully gone home just like I had requested. Walking into the apartment, I felt a part of me being reluctant to go back home. I wanted to spend more time with him. I wondered what could be going on in Cornelius' head at the moment with regards to Chad's reaction from earlier, but I dismissed it.

"So what do we want to do?" I asked him, leaving my handbag on one of the couches.

"Well, this was not my initial plan. I thought we would go out to eat." He said, undoing the button on his shirt.

"We can still have some fun though, you know?" I smirked at him from where I stood. He looked up to meet my gaze.

"What?" I furrowed my eyebrows at him.

"Why are you communicating with me like we are strangers?" He asked me, confusing me further.

"What's that even supposed to mean?"

He moved closer to me, "are you still angry?"

"I'm not!" I flinched a little when he pulled me closer to him by holding my waist.

"Come here you." He took me by surprise, kissing my lips hard.

I was still in shock for a while but relaxed and let myself enjoy the taste of his juicy lips. He brought his hands to my face and cupped my cheeks whilst maintaining the kiss. He pulled away to catch his breath and held my hand in his, staring into my eyes as if he were waiting for some sort of permission.

"Hit me." I chuckled.

Chad lifted me off the ground and carried me bridal style up the stairs.

"I need protection for what I'm about to do." He explained when I wrapped my hands around his neck.

I blushed internally and a part of me warned that I was going to be leaving his house later than I would have expected.

"Did you even wait for work to end before coming to pick me up?" I raised one eyebrow at him as he secured me in his arm up the bedroom steps.

"Does it matter?" He asked in that deep husky voice that I adored so much.

"Thank you." I smiled in appreciation.

"You already said that." He teased me, opening his door with his elbow.

He gently laid me on the bed and turned around slowly. "Get undressed, I'll grab some condoms." He said.

I widened my eyes on amusement, hurrying to do just as he had said.
