I stood to my feet, unable to process the worry that came with feeling this way.

"Are you drunk?" I asked after a while of thinking deeply about it.

"No." He said in a low voice.

"Ugh." I rolled my eyes with a sigh, "I'm coming over."

I wished I had a change of clothes but I was left with no option than to leave the same way that I had come.

"Hey.” He dragged his words. "Look who decide to show up." His house was deserted and rough, and unable to construct his words without taking me aback. It seemed like he had been throwing stuff around out of anger.

"Chad." I groaned, picking random pillows from the floor and setting them right on the couch.

He was sitting on the floor so when I moved to stand beside him, he went on his knees and wrapped his arms around my waist.

"I promise you, I wasn’t having sex with Rebecca last night, she wanted to talk about what we would do to the pregnancy." He sobbed into my laps.

I felt my heart go warm from the fact that he was crying and I felt the urge to assure him everything was okay.

"It’s okay." I simply said with a sigh, sitting on the couch and leaning his head on my laps, "Chad you didn’t impregnate her." I began.

He stopped moving and lifted his head to look at me. "What are you talking about?"

"Look, Tom called me tonight and told me, she was only doing it so you would pay attention to her, I promise." I knew Tom was definitely not lying because he had no idea in the first place and would definitely not make things up especially because he had no idea what our troubles were in the first place.

"What?" He squinted his eyes at me like I had gone crazy.

"I mean it." I assured him, "she lied to you. I know you don't believe me because you're not in the best condition but we will talk about this tomorrow when you're sober." I said, looking around at the messed up room and calculating how I would clean the place up after him.

"I'm fine. I'm sober." His red eyes went really wide as he tried to assure me he knew well what he was saying.

"Don’t worry." I lifted his head from my laps and stood to my feet. "I'm staying here overnight." I hated that I'd wasted my money at the hotel but being with him was a whole more worth it.

I tried to lead him up the stairs while he tried his best to convince me that he was sober and well aware of what he was doing, just so I could tell him what Tom meant.

"I didn’t mean to accuse you like that." He sighed when we got to the bedroom that was still in offer. I didn’t even want to know how he sent Rebecca out of the house.

"It’s only... I really just want to have this discussion when you’re sober." I kissed his forehead and pulled the blanket over him. I took his socks off and tucked them into the laundry basket in his closet.

I turned to go downstairs and he turned to sit upright. "Where are you going?" His curiosity peered through. "Please don’t leave me." He made attempts to stand to his feet and come with me but I stopped him with a slight shake of my head.

Coming to stand beside him, I set a gentle kiss on his forehead. "I want to set things right downstairs and clear the mess you made, I'll be right back."

"Promise?" He pushed

"I promise." I grinned at him and he let my hand go.

I left the room to do just as I had informed him and soon returned to lay beside him

Chad and I woke up before six a.m. the next day. He had brought me awake with disturbing kissing sounds and had been squeezing me closer to his chest. Seeing how he was not going to give up, I sat up and turned to look at him.

"Seriously?" I rolled my eyes.

"I'm sorry, I thought I had a dream last night and seeing you by my side, I was too excited to just watch you sleep like that."

"I…" I began to speak but he shut me up by pulling me closer to him with a tight hug. "Thank you."

"What for?" I returned the embrace in confusion.

"Everything.” He sighed and then he pulled away. "I know it's a lot of hard work to keep up with me but I promise, I try my best."

I nodded and laid back down.

"What are you going to do about your Rebecca situation though?" I remembered the main topic of discussion and put my serious face back on.

"First, I need a way to confirm it." He began, stroking his chin as if he was trying to search his head for answers.

"Or, you could just talk to her about your knowledge of the non-existent pregnancy.

"She really went too far this time." He frowned, "I can’t believe she would do that. It makes no sense to joke about a matter that serious, I could fucking get her arrested." He clenched one fist and aimed at his pillow.

I replied my eyes at him. "She is an obsessed beast, please." I said. Silence followed my words and a few minutes later, he broke it.

"Nikki." He began, placing his hands on my shoulder, "I'm really sorry about what I said last night." He looked down, unable to maintain eye contact with me. "I have no idea why I would assume shit out of anger. I was just so… there is really no justifiable reason behind my actions, I am truly just sorry." He eventually surfaced.

"It’s okay Chad, it’s okay." I smiled at him, leaning closer and resting my head against his shoulder.

"Forgive me?" He asked in a low voice.

I leaned my face in his direction and planted a kiss on his lips. "I love you."

"I love you more."

I was on the phone with Cornelius, explaining why I had missed work, blaming it on a personal matter, after listening to him talk non stop about his new date, when Chad came back to the house with a wide grin.

I turned in the direction of the door and said into the phone, "I'll call you back."

I placed my phone beside me and pulled the hem of Chad's green shirt I was wearing.

I stood to my feet and extended my arm for a hug. "How was it?" I asked him after he had received my embrace.

He had gone to see Rebecca physically to confront the situation.

"Well, she broke down." He pulled away and sat down beside me." I honestly ended up feeling bad for her." He admitted.

"What was her excuse? What did she have to say?" I was curious to know why she would lie about something that serious in the first place.

"Well, she didn’t have one. She promised to move to London, she needs it I promise, she had to be away from me. I'm done with indecisive bitches." He grinned. "Let’s forget about her, she is well out of our lives and even if she chooses to come back I had threatened hard with the police and believe it or not, I want hesitate to involve them if things get out of hand fast." He frowned.

I cut him off with a giggle that drew his attention.

"What's so funny?" He furrowed his eyebrows at me.

"I was just thinking of the day I texted my nudes to you, gosh, you must have been disgusted." I teased him.

"Seriously? I'm talking about a broken relationship and that's what you think of?" He chuckled, helping me sit on his laps, "you can never change."

"I don't plan on." I shrugged. "Hey, since we literally took a day off work, why don’t we go see your mom so we can tick that off our list and just spend the weekends to ourselves?"

"If it is what you want, why not?" He stood up after carefully lifting me. "Let's go to your apartment, the fire should be out by now…"

"I guess so." I suggest, realizing I literally had no clothes on but I could choose from the numerous outfits we had bought the other day, back at home.

"You needed to move anyway." He shrugged

"What are you trying to say?" I widened my eyes, following behind him.

"Uh… it's just…" he scratched the back of his head, not knowing how to place his words right.

"Are you suggesting I move in with you?" I asked him with a teasing smile.

“Only if you want to." He shrugged.

I knew it was too early but I would gladly give up my bum of a house for his anytime. "Yes please." I sighed in relief.

"Can I ask you something?” He stopped walking and turned to look at me. "Officially, will you be my girlfriend Nikki?"

I lifted my lips into a smile, "yes Chad, yes!" I beamed in excitement, "oh my God yes!"

He swooped me off my feet and did a little twirl that made me shriek.

After a few seconds, he put me back on my feet and kissed my lips hard.

"I love you." He added in a whisper after pulling away.

"I love you too." I smiled. “Come on, let's hurry to my place so I can get dressed to see your mom, we still have time anyway.”

"We do." He nodded in agreement.

Together, we walked up the stairs so he could get changed and the only thing that went on in my head was, I was Chad's girlfriend. Not just any Chad but a rich ass man for that matter.

I knew my life was just about to be lucky, and that's exactly what it was, a blessing I never knew I'd have.
