Chapter 23

I realized that maybe somethings are better of the way they are, at least in most cases. Cause if not for the fact that I told Kurt about us bounding with each other none of that thing that happened days ago would have happened.

I haven't spoken to him since then, and he hasn't bothered to speak to me either. Which felt quite relaxing, I didn't need to worry about him anymore, not like I ever cared about him in the first place.

We try our best not to cross paths with each other and given how big this house is, it wasn't so difficult.

I felt my stomach rumble in hunger, and I stood up to go get something for myself to eat. I walked down the stairs, skipping two at a time, it wasn't until I got to the bottom of the stairs that I almost twisted my ankle.

I let out a small yelp of pain, luckily it wasn't that serious so I could walk to the kitchen to make something for myself.

Marge said that the chef was on break that day and I can help myself in the kitchen. I stood at the centre of the kitchen contemplating what I would like to eat. After much thought I settle for Mac and cheese. Easy to make and Doesn't waste that much time.

By the time I was done, I looked at the food and I instantly regret ever coming to the kitchen to cook. The macaroni looked like worms, the cheese looked like it was smooched together. Everything looked as if it's something that was made for a zombie.

I let out a sigh, well the good thing is the kitchen is not on fire this time around. I carried the plate that had the Mac and cheese in, along with a spoon and head to the safe confines of my room.

I sat on the bed, looking at disaster I created. It looks like it could cause diarrhea, I took a spoon sniff it then put it in my mouth. It tasted chewy but it was actually quite decent.

I picked up the book that I was reading, but my eyes  was just staring at the words and my mind was elsewhere.

This wave of sadness washed over me, making me feel like terrible. I tried my best to focus on the words but it just couldn't work.

I kept my plate of food on the table and lay my back on the bed. Staring at the ceiling, of lately I have been wondering why exactly did both me and Kurt ended up together.

Every night I sit by the window and talk to the Moon goddess, asking her why she paired me with such a person like Kurt Higgins. We are not even compatible in the least.

Sadly, no matter how many times I direct this question towards her, I never received any form of answer. Instead I would just be left with silence.

Sometimes I used to wonder if she is even a real person, I want to ask someone if she was a real being or just something created among the werewolf race just to give them something to worship and pay due reference to.

That is if I ever had the courage to ask, anything that makes me ask questions regarding the Moon goddess would make anyone call me names. So I never bothered to ask any form of question regarding her.

The only person that knows about me wanting to ask questions regarding this Moon goddess of being was Dennis, and that's cause he also have his doubts as well.

Speaking of Dennis I haven't seen him in weeks now. I kind of miss him and the time we usually spend together.

The door opened up and in came in and said that she just received a letter from Cecilia. "Who?" I asked confusion laced in my tone.

"The elder wolf, she says that she wants to speak with you."

For the first time in days I stepped outside the mansion, as soon as the sun rays hit my skin I felt it burn.

I regretted not wearing sun block, luckily for me I brought an umbrella along, I just hoped that we are going to be inside for majority of our talk.

Marge told me that her house was some few blocks from the mansion, so it was pretty much a stroll away.

I opened up my umbrella, and walked to the direction of her house.

I read the description that was written on the letter, and it matched it.

The elder wolf house looks... Eccentric, yeah that's the word I am going to use.

I walked up the front steps and pressed the doorbell and it made a small ding sound, I waited some few minutes before the door open up and a handsome young man appeared in front of me.

"Oh you must be Alexa. Come on in, Mrs Cecilia awaits your presence." He said in very deep and savvy voice that made my spine tingle.

We walked all the way to the back of the house, where the garden was located. On getting to the garden, Mrs Cecilia back was faced to us as she tended to the flowers in front of her.

The young man called Mrs Cecilia attention, and she turned her head around. She stood up removed her hand gloves tossed it to the ground.

"Alexa, it's so nice that you could make it," she said, her face was reddened thanks to the harsh rays of the sun. As compared to when Alexa last saw her, she looked older and more wrinkled than ever.

"Come, let's go under the shed. Uh, Philip please get us some cold drinks." The guy who's name is Philip exited the garden to go get the drinks. Me and Mrs Cecilia walked to the shade that was set up with two chairs and a table.

We both sat down on the chairs and then Mrs Cecilia turned to look at me.

"How's your relationship going with Kurt?"

The silence that came from when that question was asked carried more weight than anything I would have said to her.

"Hmm, it isn't going well for you now is it?" I nodded my head to this.

"Should Iet you on a little secret? You see majority of the pairings never always work out, sometimes very terribly and leave both of them with a bad taste in their mouth. But sadly this whole thing is messed up, in the sense that if they tried to separate themselves they would both end up being sick and would eventually die from said sickness."

"So basically I have to deal with Kurt till he probably change his bad behavior?"

"Yes, sadly."

I let out a laughter, to be honest the thought of leaving Kurt had never crossed my mind, not even in the slightest. So hearing this from Cecilia pretty much cemented the fact that I stuck with this man till we both die.

In that moment, Philip came running through the doors of the garden, he was in a panic state.

As he was speaking we couldn't make out a word that was being said. They were jumbled up.

"Calm down Philip, take in a deep breath and let it out." He did as he was told, which seemed to calm him, but the look of panic was still spread across his face.

"Mrs Cecilia I got a call and they told me that Mr Higgins is in a critical state. A state that could lead to his untimely demise."
