Chapter 31

Heading downstairs for breakfast, we headed to the direction of the dining room in which bacon and eggs along with waffles and lots of syrup was served to us.

I ate out of it, and then looked at Kurt who's attention was fully focused on a painting that was on a wall besides him. The painting was of a woman who's skirt of her dress was aimlessly blowing in the wind along with her hair, she looked to be watching the sunset.

"Alexa?" He suddenly called out and I answered him as well.

"Why didn't you ever told me that you have healing abilities?"

'Shit.' I said in my mind, my hand went to my hair and began twirling on it nervously thinking of an excuse to give to him, then the perfect one popped in my brain.

"Well as you can see from yesterday, there are certain restrictions that caused me not to be able to effectively utilized my healing abilities." I answered in an almost robotic like manner.

He took a sip of his tea. He looked older than the way he was the last time I saw him, he looked more manly.

"You could still be trained by our top class healers, why? Why did you keep your abilities hidden from me?" His voice was increasing with every word that he said.

I looked down at my thigh with my fingers playing around with each other.

I could hear him let out a sigh, almost as if he was disappointed in me.

"That's ok, maybe you are just not fit for war anyways." I realized that he didn't lie, not one bit. War isn't something I see myself partaking in maybe due to the gruesome acts that happens there

I dropped my cutlery besides my plate, suddenly loosing my appetite.

Then suddenly the door open up and in came the maids and the chef, rolling in a trolley with a big wrapper covering it, Kurt looked at them with confusion etched on his face.

The suddenly the wrapper was dramatically removed and a loud, "HAPPY BIRTHDAY!" Was said. I didn't even realized that today was Kurt's birthday.

Kurt had a surprised look on his face and then a huge grin took over his face as he looked at them.

"You remembered?" Kurt asked.

"Why in the world would we forget your birthday, Young Master?" Marge said carrying the cake, along with the assist of one of the other maids, pushed his breakfast away and placed the cake in front of him. She lit up the candles and stood back up while looking at me with such a motherly gaze on her eyes.

"Make a wish." She whispered softly.

I watched as Kurt looked at her then at the cake, he closed his eyes then opened it then softly blew out the candles. Everybody (including me) clapped their hands.

Then the happy birthday song was sang and I watched as a blush crept up from Kurt's neck and onto his face. A smile appeared on my face knowing fully well that Kurt is the shy type whenever it comes to things like this.

After the song was sang, the cake was cut up and shared amongst everybody. A slice was placed in my front, along with a small spoon for me to take a bite out of.

I picked up the spoon and softly dig into the strawberry cake, and taste out of it. It tasted absolutely divine, I closed my eyes savoring the sweet taste.

Then I opened my eyes once again and began eating away at the cake, I turn to look at Kurt that was seated at my side and I noticed that he was watching me with an amuse expression.

After we were done eating cake, they carried everything and went back to the kitchen, leaving me and Kurt to sit alone in silence.

I put my elbows on the table and folded my hands underneath my chin, and I looked at Kurt with a sly smirk on my face. "So, where are you going to do for your birthday?"

Kurt let out a sigh, he pushed his plate aside, probably full from eating too much cake like me.

"I don't celebrate my birthdays like that," he said suddenly, and the smile on my face fluttered slightly.

"Oh," I mouthed. "We are both the same I guess."

"The same?" He asked, with a puzzles expression on his face.

"Yeah, I don't celebrate my birthdays. Never for once did." Aside for the one's that Dennis usually try and celebrate for me. I felt a sudden wave of sadness in my chest thinking about Dennis, I missed him. I missed him a lot.

"When exactly was your birthday," he said leaning into the chair and putting his feet up the table.

"During the night of the Mate Picking Ceremony." I said.

"That was about a month ago wasn't it?" I nodded in agreement to what he said.

Then a smile appeared on his face. "A lot has happened this past one month, I kind of found it strange how I hated you for being a weakling. I realized my mistakes, can you forgive me?" He said with so much sincerity in his words and I nodded my head.

"I forgive you."

"Well since you don't celebrate your birthdays, and I don't also celebrate mine. Why don't we go into town and explore?"

Explore? When was the last time I even went into town, it's been long.

"Ok, let's go." I said with an excited voice.

"Let's go get ready," he removed his leg off the table and stood up and I also stood up alongside him as well.

We both went upstairs, into our separate rooms. Since we are going to just explore the town, I decided to wear a simple blue colored sweater along with a skirt, and doc martens. My hair was still in usual curly state so I didn't do much with it, except combing through it.

I looked at the mirror observing my dress, and then I left the room, and headed downstairs to wait for Kurt. Then he suddenly appeared at the top of the stairs, I watched as he came downstairs.

He smiled at me, and I equally smiled back. "Are you ready?"

"Yes I am."
