Chapter 29

The soldiers were gearing up for the war, and there were some few selected civilians that were drafted alongside the soldiers as well. Healers were also there, I would have been with them, sadly I couldn't due to me wanting to keep my healing abilities a secret.

I know that that was a cowardice move, but I couldn't risk being found out that a low rank had such an ability. Even though it had its own setback.

But that doesn't mean I did not want to go and assist in the war. So I told Kurt if there is anything I could do to help.

"You should just stay here, I can't risk you being in danger."

He probably saw a look of slight fear panic flash through my eyes, he came closer to me and place his hands on my shoulders.

He used his fingers and lifted up my chin to look at him, his eyes was filled with hope.

"I go and comeback safely, nothing bad would happen. I just need to show Raphael that I am not child." He said the 'child' with so much spite.

"Ok I believe you," I wanted to believe those words that I told him.

His eyes lingered on my lips, as if contemplating if he should kiss me or not. He decided on the latter we he backed away from me, nodding his head at me.

He turn his back to me and walk away about to go to a battle I could only hope that he would win.

It's been a week since Kurt left for the war, for some reason I was calm. I wasn't panicking like the way I thought I would do at least.

I decided to take a stroll across the pack, while wearing a disguise. I mean I know that I probably don't need to wear it, I just felt like maybe I should get some sort of info from everyone around.

I walked through the streets, everybody going and coming. I decided to go to the market place, that's where almost all the gossip would be in.

It was bustling with life almost as if there wasn't a war going on and if we loose we stand a chance of getting destroyed by the enemy.

I went to a woman selling fruits and vegetable items, I told her that I want to buy an apple. I handed her the money and she handed me the apple. I took a bite into the apple, then I overheard some people besides me having a conversation. At first it didn't pique my interest until I heard my name being mentioned.

"Did you know that the Luna of this pack used to be a lowly omega?" One of the women said.

"Wait you are joking right?" Another said surprised lace in her tone.

"Yes, she is an Omega, heck she is even the weakest omega that there is."

"That's so terrible, I always thought that he would end up with Rachel. You know with the both of them being strong, what exactly was the Moon goddess thinking when she paired them up together."

"They would give birth to weaklings," she said in a condescending tone.

"Well, we can only hope the best for them." Then they both left, and I stood there their words echoing over and over in my brain.

I felt a tear slip through my eyes, I quickly wipe it off before it could roll down my cheek, I sniff and tried to gather my composure. I needed to stay strong in a time like this.

As i turn around to head to back to where I was coming from, I bumped into someone almost falling down. Luckily I was able to keep my balance.

I started apologizing, and then got a better view of the person face, it was Rachel Clark.

"Oh hello Rachel, it's been a while hasn't it." I said.

"Yeah, and who are you?" She asked looking at me trying to remember who I was.

"Alexa Cortex. Kurt's Luna," I added for good measure. And a flash of recognition crossed her eyes.

"Oh, you. Aren't you suppose to be in your big ole mansion up on the hill." She said folding her arms.

"Well I just came down from said mansion to just buy an apple," I flashed her the half eaten apple with a smile plastered on my face.

"You would think that there would a huge amount of food, or is there a shortage of food already?"

"There is no shortage of food, I just came out to relax my mind a little bit."

"Is that so," she said looking me up and down. "I heard that there is an ongoing war. You know that if I was made Luna, I would have been there, standing next to him. But you are a sad little weakling."

Her words hurt, but I didn't let it show. Instead I took the high road instead of taking the low road.

"It's to ensure my safety, I am hundred per cent sure that Kurt would have done the same thing if you were his Luna as well."

She let out a scoff. "What do you know about Kurt? You have barely spent some few months with him and you already behaving like you knew since you were born."

I was going to argue with her about whether I have knows Kurt through out all my life or not.

"This conversation is over, have a nice day." I walked past her, and disappear into the crowd. I knew that her eyes were on me, I could feel her piercing gaze. But I just choose to ignore it.

I got back to the house, ate dinner, read a book or two. It was evening time, and I sat on my bed staring out the window, watching the light of the day slowly fading away. Suddenly I was worried about Kurt's safety.

The day fades into nighttime and I was staring at the half moon, saying a pray that he was alright.
