Chapter 5
"I reject you Alpha Kurt!" There was a silence that was almost deafening, as my voice echoed through the air.
It was as if everybody was trying to comprehend what I just said to THE Alpha Kurt. Heck I was even surprised that such words could come out of my mouth.
"Excuse me?" Kurt said looking at me with so much spite that I almost cower in fear, but I didn't back down. It was as if I was possessed by something else entirely.
"I said, that I reject you Alpha Kurt," at this point I was convinced that it wasn't me that was talking, cause ain't no way I would even bother myself to speak to Kurt like this.
Kurt let out a scoff. "Who the fuck do you think you are? Huh. I am the one that should reject you, not the other way round."
"Well I am doing you the favor by doing the rejection for you." Please shut up. Who the fuck are you? God I am going to get into a shit load of trouble for this.
"A weakling like you have no right to talk back to me."
I didn't say anything else, at least my mouth decided to shut up after a while.
I could see from the corner of my eye, Chloe was whispering amongst her cohorts. But I didn't let that disturb me.
"Well it seems that many people are satisfy with who they are paired up with. Well if you have any issue take it up to the Moon goddess, that concludes the Mate Picking Ceremony. I hope you people can have a happy life together. Goodnight." Philip Higgins said, and everybody began muttering, they seemed to not want to move. As if they wanted to know what happens next, like as if they were watching some sort of soap opera or something.
The Elder Werewolf glared at the crowd. "You heard the man, leave. The ceremony is over."
The crowd began shuffling, as they all walked away to their various cabins.
Mr Philip looked at me and Kurt. "You two are coming with me. You too Rachel."

We entered inside what seemed to be a bedroom turned to an office.
Mr. Philip took a sit behind the desk, clasping both hands in front of him as he closed his eyes, he opened them and stared at us with his grey eyes that seemed to have been through a lot over the years.
"Through out the years of me being both an Alpha and also being a retired Alpha. I have never seen such a show case of absolute barbaric nature."
"Sir-" Rachel began to speak, but Mr. Philip raised his index finger, as an attempt to silence her.
"I am not done talking. The Mate Picking Ceremony is hosted once a werewolf reaches the age of 20, cause we believe that by that age one is old enough to make decisions for themselves. And for the first time in close to hundred years, The Mate Picking Ceremony has an Alpha that would finally pick his Luna. And what am I seeing, is the both of them rejecting themselves."
Rachel raised up her hand. "Sir can I speak."
"You may speak," he gave her the permission to do so.
"Sir, there is no way in this world that my mate is someone of such low rank."
"You are not the first person to have a low ranking partner."
"And I don't care whoever it was that have had a mate of lower rank, it shouldn't be me."
I was this close to rolling my eyes, the way people of lower ranks are treated disgusts me. It just makes me tired of everyone and everything.
"You cannot go against what the Moon goddess choose for you. She knows all and is a supreme being and her say is final."
I raised up my hand, and Mr. Philip looked at me. "You want to say something Ms. Cortex."
"Sir, isn't the Moon goddess suppose to select people that are compatible with each other in terms of everything?"
"Yes, she does."
"So why are me and Kurt paired together?" I asked tilting my head to the side.
Mr Philip looked at the elder wolf, who's presence I didn't even pay attention.
"Don't look at me, I am just as tired of them as you are."
It seemed to me that Mr Philip had even gotten older with just interacting with all three of us.
"What the Moon goddess says is final. And you three are not going against it, now I have to rest my brain due to how difficult tonight has been. I am not as young as I used to be before so let this old wolf rest. You may take your leave."
The three of us left the office and stood in the hallway, I stared at my shoes suddenly finding them interesting as an attempt to not look at the other two.
None of us said anything or even attempted to go to our various houses. The silence was literally weighing down on me and I was praying for the ground to open up and swallow me.
"Hey you," I raised my head to see who Kurt was referring to, I pointed and myself just to be such that it was me.
"Yes you. Who gave you the right to reject me infront of everyone?"
I felt myself stiffen. Ah shit, this isn't going to be a good one. Why did my mouth move back then, I swear it wasn't I was possessed by something, or was it because I felt embarrassed with the way everyone was laughing at me.
"I-I... I didn't mean too. I'm sorry." I said looking down with a solemn expression on my face.
Kurt let out a laughter. "You are definitely something now aren't ya." With that he turned on his heel and began walking down the opposite direction of the hallway.
"Kurt! Where are you going too?!" Rachel called out to him.
"I just need to clear my head a bit." He responded back to her.
"Would you mind if I follow you?"
"No, I need some alone time!" He turned into a corner and disappear from our sight.
Rachel let out a sigh, she went away to the other direction leaving me all alone to myself.
I didn't even notice I was crying, till I saw tears dropping down the floor.
Fuck, my life is about to become messier than it already is.
