Chapter 24
Panic washed over Mrs Cecilia's face as she stood up in frenzy and in the process knocked down the chair that she previously sitting on.
"Hospital? W-what happened to him?" Her voice sounded as if it was about to crack.
"I don't know, they just called me and told me that he was currently in the hospital." Philip said sounding distressed than usual.
She looked at me with an apologetic look. "I am sorry Alexa, but we will continue this conversation some other time."
"Can I at least follow you to see him?"
She nodded her head, and I got up from the chair, took my umbrella that was next to the door that led to the garden. We got out and head to the front door.
"We are taking the car, so follow me the garage ok." I nodded my head, even though she can't see me due to her back facing me.
We got to the garage entering inside the car, the garage doors slowly open and Mrs Cecilia drove out of the garage and onto the main street, heading straight for the hospital.

It seems that Mrs Cecilia mind was on seeing Mr Higgins, cause with the way in which parked the car haphazardly would probably result to her getting her fine. But it looked like she could even bother herself to care at the moment.
We walked (well more like run) to the receptionist desk of the hospital. The woman that was sitting down there mindlessly flipping through pages of a magazine that had a very attractive model on the front cover, look up from it and I saw a look of recognition appear on her face.
"Hello Mrs Cecilia, long time no..." She didn't get to finish before Mrs Cecilia interject.
"I am here to see Mr Higgins, I got a phone call that he got into an accident."
The woman blinked her eyes a couple of times, her face had one of defeat on it.
"I'm sorry ma'am but the doctor said that only people that are family members are allowed to see Mr Higgins. Due to him being in a critical state right now."
I heard her mutter 'fuck' before she used her fingers to rub her nose, her hand holding her waist as if contemplating what to do.
"Can I at least see him later?" She asked with a tiny bit of hope in her voice.
"You can wait in the waiting room, the doctor would come out and tell you when you can enter."
"Thank you," Mrs Cecilia said expressing her gratitude to her.
We walked to the waiting room, and sat on the iron chairs, it felt cool to my bum. Which was what I needed to cool off the burn sensation from the sun outside.
I wondered if Kurt knew that his father was currently in a critical state that required adequate care? I mean he should be here at least, since he most definitely the first person the news should have reach before anybody else got it.
We waited for hours, as we were waiting for the doctor to come out. I watched people pass by, some in wheelchairs, some being assisted by a nurse or two.
It didn't take long before a doctor came outside from a door that was at the far left. And it seems that Mrs Cecilia knew who the doctor was, cause she immediately stood up and went up to talk to her.
I watched from a distance as they both talked quite animatedly with each other, before the doctor walked away from her. As she walked past me, she gave me a quick passing glance before her eyes went back to her front.
Cecilia came and sat next to me once again. My attention went to her. "What did the doctor say?"
"She said that he was poisoned."
I covered my mouth in shock. "Who could have done such a horrible thing?"
"Nobody knows, all they know is that his maid saw him lying on the floor motionless. Almost at the brink of death."
I shook my head in sorrow. "Did they say anything about Kurt knowing the condition of his father?"
"Well I didn't ask, so she didn't tell me. But he should know, well at least he is meant to know."
Almost as if he was listening to us talk, Kurt came busting through the door. His eyes raking everywhere then landing on us.
His face went from one of fear to one of composure. As if he didn't want us to know that he was troubled.
He walked past us, greeting only Cecilia and completely ignoring me. Which kind of hurt if I am being honest, but I choose to ignore cause it's the same thing I am doing to him too.
Cecilia looked at me. "What happened between the both of you?" She asked with a tone of curiosity.
"It's a long story." I said with a tight lip smile on my face.

It wasn't until it was 9 o'clock that we finally managed to go and see Mr Higgins. We entered inside the hospital room and this feeling of death over came me, almost as if something terrible was going to happen to him.
He looked frail, his skin looked pale and it almost looked like he has gotten older than his age.
Kurt was seated at the bedside table, holding his hand. He looked shaken up by everything, I felt like comforting him in this state that he was currently in, but apparently I couldn't.
He looked at us as we entered inside the room, his eyes were red and puffy, he looked very fragile at that point in time. I felt bad for him if I were being honest.
Mrs Cecilia came and sat on the other side of his bed, holding his other hand. She started crying, tears falling down her eyes. I stood there awkwardly like I wasn't even supposed to be here witnessing this whole thing, yet here I am. Ironic isn't it, but he is my father-in-law so I was obliged to be here.
"The doctor says that he is stable right now, due to him removing the poison from his body. There's a lot of it stuck in his bloodstream that they can't seem to get out. We just hope on the Moon goddess that he should come out alive."
"But, who would have come something as terrible and vile as this?" Cecilia said.
"I don't know who that person maybe. But whoever they are, they are going to get a big punishment from me."
Kurt turn around and look at me, I could see behind his eyes that he looked conflicted. Almost as if he wanted me here at the same time he doesn't.
I also felt the same where as well too.
