Chapter 25 You Repelled Me

At 4 in the early morning, Sandra came out of the bathroom in the night dress.
She felt weak from the top to the bottom, especially the thighs.
She wanted to go to the guest room, but a cold voice stopped her.
"Come back!"
"...... "
Did he sleep already?
Sandra had no other way but came back to the bedside reluctantly, lying down with the clothes on, taking only a small part of the bed.
Clinton wrapped the blanket on and didn't say more except those two words. Who knew if he slept deeply?
Sandra was sober instead. She turned back and forth for a while and then she summoned all her courage to ask.
"Sir, if you it were you, would you adopt your rival's child?"
What her brother said echoed always in her ears.
She didn't want to believe but it wasn't up to her to believe or not.
She couldn't help asking.
Silence.
After quite a while, no response. Sandra thought he was asleep, and then sighed. But unexpectedly the man got up. Suddenly she felt a big shadow over her.
Clinton was hard to read, cautious but also ruthless.
"What did John say to you?"
At hospital that day, he only heard the last part. It could be that John said something else to her before.
Sandra was frightened by his look.
But she was sadly lucid inside.
She was clear what it meant by his reaction.
She coughed and then turned her eyes away.
"No, I suddenly had such a question."
Clinton looked at her half smiling, with his eyes on her like a net.
"Really?"
"Yes."
Sandra looked at his eyes with disguised calm, "You wouldn't adopt a rival's child, would you?"
She had been with him for so many years. No emotion change on his face would escape her eyes.
She had something on her mind, but she cheated him.
His heart was in turmoil, and even wanted to question her about what he heard the other day at hospital.
But he held himself back.
"It's hard to say."
The man lay back again with hands at the back of his head. He looked at the ceiling for a while and then closed his eyes slowly.
"It depends on if the child is valuable."
His husky voice echoed in her ears.
Afterwards, no more sound.
Sandra opened her eyes in the quietness and comprehended what he said, while her heart was sinking down colder and colder.
The man beside her was soundly asleep, with gradually stead breath.
She became more and more clear.
In the dark, Clinton suddenly shivered with sweat on his nose.
"Charlize..."
Some words now and then came from his thin lips.
She turned her head to look at his handsome profile that God may even be jealous of, with complex feelings.
Her expressions changed fast and at the end she felt only pain at heart.
He was dreaming.
Since the Lees were killed three years ago, he had nightmares of Charlize being burnt, which Sandra had been used to.
Sandra drew some Kleenex from the drawer at the bedside deftly to wipe the sweat off for him, and the other hand was on the blanket to pat him now and then, as if the gentlest love in the world, to tuck him in.
The body in the blanket didn't shiver gradually.
Sandra slowed down her patting gradually, as she was also tired.
"Sandra."
Without any expectation, the man said something suddenly.
Sandra felt her heart choked suddenly.
The first time, she heard him to call her name in the dream. If it wasn't because of his calm breath, she would think he was pretending to fall asleep.
The humble pleasant couldn't help bursting out. Sandra got closer to listen to what he was saying, a bit frightening.
Clinton turned his body and the rest of the sentence was clearer in the silence.
"You are disgusting."
Her face was frozen before her pleasant smile pushed up completely.
