DRAKE: “Kes it’s one thing for you and Mackinzie to go off and do shit like that, **BUT NOT** when you have the prince with you. Their safety is on me when they are on our territory, you can’t just go off and do whatever you want and drag him along.” “Yes, father.” She says to me with her head down. “May I have the hunting cabin?” She blurts out at me. “Why would you want the cabin?” I asked her. “It’s in a nice spot, it’s pretty, and it’s quiet, the patrols don’t use it and don’t bother with it, I could fix it up and Mackie and I could rent it out for weekend getaways, or week vacations.” She says with a bit of hope in her voice. “I will think about it.” I tell her. “Yes, father.” She says with a dejected tone in her voice. “May I go?” she asked quietly. I nod and watch as she gets up and walks out. *(“What do I do with her, Helios?”) (“Give pup what she asked for, show her that you are trying, you did not give her a gift for her birthday, tell her it is a late birthday gift, and tell her that you will help with the upgrades that she wants to make.”) (“Why didn’t you say anything sooner?”) (“You still need to remember that you have 5 children, and stop forgetting about her.”)* He tells me, and I know he is right. I link Carla. *“We didn’t get Keska anything for her birthday.” “Oh, crap Drake, and I think I even had her working on the invitations for the ball on her birthday. But she never asked for anything.” “I know, and I think that is partly why we didn’t get her anything, because she never asks for anything.” “She probably feels, why bother, she wouldn’t get it anyway, because she isn’t Jessie.”* Carla sends back to me. *“Well, she just asked me for the hunting cabin; she wants to fix it up and rent it out.” “That’s an excellent idea, wish we had thought of that. But we can’t take her idea away from her. It will give her some income and allow her to keep earning her own money, something the other kids never did do.” “Liam is starting to though.” “Are we really going to let them get a job off the pack lands?” “Right now, I don’t see a way around it, If we don’t want to completely lose her, we have to trust her. Plus, I have to look into getting her a driver’s license.” “I guess, give her the cabin, put it in writing that it is hers, and that she is then responsible for the upkeep on it. I know that it may sound a bit harsh, but she needs to understand what she is asking for as well.” “I will get the deed drawn up for her to sign. I will have to get James in on it as well.” “Ok, dear.”* I close the link with Carla and open one to James. *“James, are you busy?” “Not at the moment, why?” “Well, I screwed up again with your sister, and we did not get her anything for her birthday, but she just asked me for the hunting cabin that Jessie was going to hold her in.” “Why would she want that? I would think she wouldn’t want anything to do with it after what happened.” “You’d think, but no, she wants to fix it up and rent it out as a mini vacation spot.” “Damn! wish I’d have thought of that.” “Your mother and I both had the same reaction to it as well, but I feel that it may go a long way in making amends with her, but your mother feels that it needs to be done in a legal fashion, to make her understand that she is completely responsible for it, and it is all hers, that means that you will also have to abide by what we put in that deed.” “Honestly, I have no problem with it. I, too, have plenty to make up for with her.” “I will have everything ready to sign by the end of the ball.”* I tell him and close the link. I pick up the phone and call the pack lawyers to get the ball rolling on getting the cabin transferred to Keska.
KESKA: Well, I asked for the cabin, which is all I can do. I feel the need to shift and just run, I never thought that I was putting Trever in danger, he never said that we need to have security with us. If something had happened, then we would be in trouble, and the royal pack would come after us, and I would be the reason that the pack was at war, or that Uncle Carson’s dream would be destroyed. I feel like crap, I can’t face any of them right now, I just need to run. I leave the pack house and head east, towards the lake. When we get to the forest, I just let Corla take control, I don’t care that my clothes are shredded, I just take a back seat and let her run. We get to the lake, and I just take a high jump right into the middle of it. And let the quiet of the lake and the forest sounds try to soothe me. \[“Was I wrong, Corla? Did I put us in jeopardy?”\] \[“If the prince thought that we were ever in jeopardy, he would have linked for help, even when they helped Ailea, they were in complete control of the situation. If they felt that they needed help, they would have linked their people. Their link reaches farther than ours.”\] \[“Why didn’t Father punish me for putting the prince in danger?”\] \[“I don’t know, maybe because of the ball, too many eyes.”\] \[“But if I was in the wrong, it would show them that he would still punish his own even if they messed up.”\] \[“Probably figures that you have been punished enough for things that you didn’t do.”\] \[“He is confusing me.”\] \[“Maybe he is trying to make amends.”\] \[“Why? He hasn’t shown any kind of remorse towards me before, why now?”\] \[“Because he has finally seen the error of his actions, and realizes he has been in the wrong with you. His wolf wants his pup back, wants to be called daddy again, and feel proud of the fact that he has won you back.”\] \[“He should have thought of that when father was punishing me for all the things that Jessie pulled, he should have pushed harder to make father ask me back then.”\] \[“He knows he has to make amends as well.”\] She says to me. \[‘What does that even look like, Corla? I mean, after everything, how do we, I forgive him?”\] \[“One step, one thing, one issue at a time.”\] \[“What do you think about the whole Jessie issue? I mean I don’t feel like it’s fair that she gets out of her punishment early, but if it gets her out of the pack then she can’t blame me for her crap anymore, I guess it’s a good thing.”\] \[“Yes, father and James have that right, plus with her being gone, they will see that she caused a lot of drama for the sake of getting you in trouble.”\] \[“Let’s just hope they do realize that, and that Lissa doesn’t follow in Jessie’s footsteps.”\] \[“Humm, I’m hungry, I think I want fish.”\] Before I could say anything more, she put her head under water and went fishing. Catching a walleye, she comes up and heads for the shore with the fish in her mouth. I just let her have her meal, as I am not keen on fish.
