STAR: “You took a big risk, Keska.” I say to her. “I know, but I was not going to just leave her, with nowhere to go and possibly more trouble to follow.” “But it still could.” I say. “I am sure that it will, with what I know.” She says, looking at Alpha Camron, and he too nods his head.
CAMRON: “It is not my story to tell either, but I will say this much, just so that you can understand the ramifications of the situation. The she-wolf in question was raped by a ranked wolf, a 3rd born, but a ranked wolf none the less.” I say. And hear growls from all around me. I nod my head to acknowledge them, and their rage at the injustice that was done to her.
ALISHA: “Well, as Keska said, history repeats itself, and this could be the catalyst that starts it all over. The actual subject was marking for the purpose of linking.” I say. “We have some very old text in our pack about a war that was fought well over 100 years ago, as that is how long our pack has been in existence.” I tell them. “Blake says that he remembers hearing or studying something about it as well.” I say. “Well, this could be an issue that might get messy, for sure, and as we are the prospective leaders of the packs represented, we will need to come up with a plan for future co-operation.” Alpha Camron says to everyone. “Well, not all, James will have to be brought in on this if it comes down to it, and possibly even father.” Keska says, with a bit of a sigh. There is a story there as well, but it’s not up to me to pry.
KEKSA: Before anyone can say anything else, we hear “Hey, not fair!!” Coming from the back of the yard, we all look in that direction and see Chase flat on his back, Cinder sitting on him looking innocent, and Liam rolling on the ground in a fit of hysterical laughter. Oh no, the last time he went into a fit like that, I had to coach him out of it. I look at Star and see that she remembers it as well and starts to grin herself. “Don’t you start.” I say to her. She shakes her head. But the grin stays in place. I go inside to get a glass of water, and go over to Liam, “Come on, goofball. Sit up. Head down. Shallow breaths. Good, now slow sips.” I hand him the glass of water.
STAR: I feel several pairs of questioning eyes on me, after the remark Kes made, as she got up to get water for Liam. So, I answer the unasked question everyone wanted to know the answer to. “It was graduation, and we had a few close packs come for it. We were all sitting in the family/ranked dining hall when Liam challenged Jessie with Keska to run the obstacle course.” I say with a nod in the direction of the curse. “Kes and Mackie weren’t with us, I think they may have been it Keska’s room when the challenge was made, Liam got Jessie to bet him $20.00 that Keska could beat her, Adrian also got in on that bet, then shortly after the bet was made both Kes and Mackie came into the room and sat down, said hi to the people around them and were holding light conversations with us. Then Jessie just kinda blew a gasket and was demanding that Keska come down immediately, and since they had been in the room for about 15 minutes already, I stated as much to Jessie, and Liam just lost it, and went into a fit of hysterical laughter just like now. Keska had to coach him out of it.” I state to them and watch as the twins’ eyes light up with the memory of it, and getting a chuckle out of the rest of the group.
KESKA: After I get Liam calmed down, I turn to Cinder, “I love you, Cinder, but do you think we can have Nana back?” I asked her. She huffs at me but nods her head, and she heads over to the side of the house to shift back and get dressed to rejoin the group. “Thank you.” Chase says to me. I nod at him. We don’t get to get back into the discussion, though, as it is time for dinner. “We will have to pick this up after dinner.” I tell them. “Where?” “Well, if it is possible to leave out the fact that she was at the cabin, then you might want to get Father and James into the conversation, especially if you think that there could be trouble with Stone Claw.” I say to them and head to the side gate. “If he wants to know what brought it all about?” Blake asked. “Tell him, he knows that Trever is my mate, and that he wants to link with me, but knows he has to wait to be able to mark and mate me, so we were brainstorming, he doesn’t have to know that Trever actually marked me.” I say to them. As we head back to the pack house. “The best part is that you don’t carry his scent, as if he marked you in the mating process,” Liam says as he goes running past. Oh, shit none of us thought about that aspect of a marking. I link Trever. *“I don’t know if you just heard what Liam said, but we didn’t think about whether I would carry your scent or not.” “I don’t care, princess, I would rather let everyone know you are mine, but for the fact that you are only 16, we have to wait.”* He sends back. Well, I guess that works. I look at him to see if he caught on. His face just lights up, and he picks me up and swings me around. “Trever!” I hear his brother say in a scolding tone. “I don’t care! It worked.” He laughs. Swinging me around again. Everyone in the group starts to clap for us. *“I still say I get to do what Mackie did.”* I got the link from Liam. *“We’ll see.”* I send back to him. I link Mackie, *“Have you told Dutch what is going to happen?” “Yes, he was with me when the Alpha linked me.” “He will have to stay with Trever, and travel together, so Jessie doesn’t get too suspicious about what is going on.”* She nods. *“Then he can mark you, so the two of you can link with each other.”* Again, she nods. We head into the pack house; I move to go to the pack dining hall, but get pulled to the marquee by Star. “What are you doing?” “You are going to eat with us.” She says, pulling me with her into the marquee. The rest of the group follows behind, all of them grinning.
KESKA: I link Trever. *“Arrange the seating where I am sitting between Mackie and Liam, I know you want to be close to me, but if things are going to work the way that we discussed in Father’s office, you can’t, or Jessie will get even more suspicious.”* I tell him. I can tell by the look on his face that he doesn’t like it, but he suggests the seating arrangement. I see the confused looks on Barett’s and Trent’s faces, but they comply with the seating arrangements.
