THE BEGINNING:CHAPTER XIX:ENEMY WITHIN
Melizar strolled beside Tezmon and Perez on the hard marble pavement through the dark heightened corridors where black staues of dead noble acolytes were placed on the opposite side with flaming torches hanging loops illuminating the pathway that led to the Magistrum chambers on the right wing exquisitely decorated with hefty ancient portraits of past advocates that were hung on both sides of the eroded walls made of hard bricks that has survive corrosion for a thousand years ever since the sect was established by the early founders of the sect for the hidden purposes of slaying monsters which they had succeeded in their grand plan in eradicating dangerous supernatural beings that lurks in shadows amongst human civilization which poses a threat to their existence except for the Sao clan whom proved difficult to curtail as well as a worthy adversary in times past and had survived keeping a very tight low profile amongst human populations despite all efforts to keep them in check.
Melizar walked with haste picking up speed ahead of the two men behind him despite his heavy burden that weigh on his body before bumping into a balded monk cladded in brown cassock, on his path who wasn't aware that he was heading fast towards which made them collided hard causing his coarse book to fall down on the dusty ground with loud thud echoing loudly throughout the hallway which prompted him to stop to assist the old monk.
"Friar, are you alright? Allow me to pick up your notebook from the ground", Melizar said bending downwards to get the brown-covered book but his hands was held back by the old man.
"No need my son, I will pick it up myself", the monk said and slowly lifted up the booklet from the ground using his frail hands to pick it up from the floor before hitting up dust particles of the book whily the other two arrived at that moment standing behind to figure out what happened before they got to the collision point which occurred few minutes ago.
"Is everything alright, Pennant?", Perez inquired rushing towards the fragile monk to aid him from falling down leaving Melizar in surprise how he got to the old man so fast In a twinkle of an eye.
"Yes my boy, everything's fine. You don't have to worry too much since it was just a minor accident, so don't make a big fuss about it", Pennant replied trudging forward with Perez unrelenting in his efforts to assist the old monk and were about leaving before they were stopped in their tracks by Melizar.
"Wait a moment Perez, there's something else you must do for me as well", Melizar intruded untying the loin cloth around his torso before letting down the baby from his back which suddenly caught the others in utter shock and amazement leaving them completely dumbstruck. They had obliviously escorted him into the main building after ignoring the newbies that were practicing their combat routine in the front courtyard assigned to them by the senior advocate walking past them in haste into the building for them bring Melizar to the chambers of the Magistrum and were completely unaware of what he carried on his back till thw moment he uncovered what he had being concealing behind his back in front of them. Although the duo noticed the wrapped cloth behind his back, they didn't bother to ask him anything about what he carried on his back since they were blinded with the thought that he must have taken extra attires before he left for the mission to the Summerville and since it was winter, it didn't occur to them find out if he had taken some extra clothes in order to survive the snow storms during the winter season.
"Take the baby back with you to my cell and put her on the bed bed you bolt the door. I will take my keys from you when I get back", Melizar said to Perez who looked transfixed at him without uttering any word as he took the keys and the baby as well using his left arm while supporting the light weight of the old monk on the other and plodding away through the pale lighted hallway to the large doors shutting out the heavy sunlight outside with the old man beside him heading back the way he came.
"Ain't... you... aware of the dire consequences you will face once the other elders find out you brought child into our sect?!", Tezmon queried vehemently with net veins exhibiting themselves out of his hefty neck.
"Yes I know but what about you? You are the fourth elder and you have already found out what I have done right here before the others do. Are you going to tell them about it?", Melizar asked looking at the defeated face of Tezmon.
"I know I don't act like an elder before you but I won't stand and watch you break the rule that binds us all which I conceive that you must be getting tired of", Tezmon retorted harshly trying hard to keep his heart from bursting open from his chest.
"You won't be able to do anything once I explain the reason why I brought that child here and I won't tell you right here but in that chamber right in front of the other elders and they won't say anything concerning my punishment. As for the code, there need to be a change because our foes out there are forging their plans into a different ballgame entirely. I have seen it and you will encounter it soon as well", Melizar said pointing to the large doors of the chamber situated far from their tiny bodies whilst face to face with Tezmon who felt challenged but didn't respond because of their close friendship. The two fighters promptly ease the tension between themselves and resumed their long walk through the corridor heading straight for the chambers where two guards who had heard their echoing argument protected the entrance from uninvited guests and opened the doors with a greeting for them to enter into the chamber as they hastily approached the opened doors which was shut behind them after they entered inside.
A gentle breeze brewing around in the dark night slowly sway an old newspaper down the dirty dark alleys of a quiet street that cut across several small buildings into a broad section of tall buildings situated next to the remote areas of Summerville before landing on a black shoe of a man cladded in a fawn coat with a hat on his head covering his dark hair except his beards that ran from the corners of his face to his chin with a brown cigar protruding out from his lips emitting a faint smoke into the air. He had been waiting patiently for his crew to arrive in order to deliver vital information to his alpha about the recent incident that almost exposes their clan and felt a tap on his shoulder behind him prompting him to turn around gazing at dark figures of two huge men standing in front of him.
"Hey Simon, you got the Intel from Chief Sheridan?", one of the men cloak with darkness asked him in a deep voice,
"Yes...I do. There were supposed to be a more boys or something more than just two dudes I don't even know. Where are the others?", Simon asked removing his cigar from his mouth before a hefty hand from the shadows held his throat throttling him hard with a firm grasp around his throat giving him no chance to breathe.
"Show respect for your new superiors dimwit or I will break that mouth of yours", Another deep voice said and toss him hard against a garbage dumpster which wreck his back while his unfinished cigarette lay down on the murky asphalt but he bravely withstood the attack and got up from the ground in order to retaliate but another voice behind the hefty men emanating from a black limo ordered him to stand down.
"Simon! Don't mess with my new toys. Boys hoister him in and let us return back to the hideout", the familiar voice known by Simon as his vicious pack leader, Sermond thundered with his voice.
Before Simon could make out his face, heavy arms from the two men clouded his body dragging him away to the black limo which automatically opened it's jaws waiting for Simon to be tossed into the back seat which the vile men did thrusting him into a fancy seat on a small couch beside his master landing with a heavy thud before the driver conveyed the passengers out of the dirty street after the two men had entered into the back seat squeezing their enormous size into the couch opposite the deadly alpha.
