THE BEGINNING:CHAPTER XXVI:DILEMMA

Steven peered at his shabby reflection on his bathroom mirror inside a dark apartment building, looking at his unkempt visage especially his sweaty beard which he has not shaved for a long time now ever since he had failed countless times in trying to find out vital leads that will help clear his vague thoughts which now engulfed his entire mind after yet another frustrating attempt he made last week to secretly investigate what really caused the actual crash of Flight A43 whose passengers including the co-pilot were massacred by something weird creature even though the corpses of the flight attendant, the head pilot and a female passenger name Jessica did not sustain any claw marks like the rest of the passengers whose deaths were caused by the ferocious beasts.
He had tried to check the hidden profile of the bio assassin whom he found at the autospy room of the city's health centre eleven years ago along with two colleagues who have suffered terribly at the hands of those that he believes were purely involved in the unexpected crash of the aircraft which claimed the vulnerable lives of it's innocent passengers especially the sheriff whom he recall vividly ordering his boys and how Sheridan's boys took them inside their automibiles away from the hospital to his precinct and whose motive in coercing them to reveal their identities to him which they did, leaving a good number of suspicious questions in his mind, except for the undercover detective who was secretly transferred to a place without their knowledge after the two NAS agents were reluctantly released afterwards from the district manor by sheer luck and have not set his eyes on the acquainted detective ever since their last encounter while his partner sustained another attack from unknown assailants six years ago inside his own home during the dark night few hours before dawn and was taken to the hospital the following day after a kind man living next door in the neighbourhood noticed the break in just before sunrise and alerted the police who came to his rescue before ambulances were called in by the police officers to carry the badly injured victim to the hospital where he received treatment for coma since he was found lying unconscious almost covered in his own blood along with deep claw marks boldly inflicted on his frail body matching exactly like the one he had seen previously on the corpses of those who died in the wrecked aircraft, at the health center which made him ever more afraid and grew more suspicious about those involved in the case.
Some months later after the incident, he had noticed that he was been watched everywhere he goes by some unknown men especially on the streets after his working hours on the office and had managed to slipped out from their hands each time they try to manoeuvre their way through the exposed streets filled with different passersby walking to their destination at various places in the city, compelling him to end his tedious work at the office quite early enough to escape from being trailed by his unknown trackers whose presence had created an awkward feeling about how they were able to locate his partner's house at the suburban areas of the city.
He was lucky enough to be left alone to continue his secret quest for answers that were yet to reveal themselves to him despite the official closure of the old case a long time before now where most of his colleagues that were present at that time when the case was still ongoing and have not been closed yet, have all forgotten about it but he still kept on investigation in sheer secrecy in spite of his slow progress in attaining his desired objective even though he had relentlessly scoured the entire city for possible leads that will help him a lot especially when he tried to figure out why the assassin went into the airplane and who was his target that had undeniably board the flight to Greaves for an unknown activity away from summerville known only to the dead victim as well as his enemies and had gottaten the full list of the names of all passengers on board including the head pilot from a nerdy fellow named Jerry the air traffic control in Greaves where he had checked all their profiles and found nothing significant except for a dead congressman including his wife whose deaths was strangely not announced in the news by a rookie reporter ten years ago striking his curiosity to check for more clues at the luxurious mansion, located in Summervile, of the politician who was later reported missing along with their baby daughter few years after the incident of the crash occurred but he found out that the mansion was already sold to the another buyer and the properties of the previous owners had been confiscated by the police together with some foreign estate agents, bringing part of his search to another dead end. He trudged out of the bathroom to his bed room fully clad in his green robe feeling utterly despondent with the current progress of his secret work and wasted no time in getting himself ready for another day at the office as he began change his outfit into a darkish green trouserss and black suit while he buttoned up his suit leaving only the upper region of his red necktie exposed until a mild knock at the door halted his preparation almost compelling him to respond to the intrusion but he hesitated feeling quite afraid to answer the door and stood there wondering who it might be.
The knock resounded again behind the wooden and he reluctantly decided to face whoever might be knocking his door at this early hours of the morning but he took his gun from his drawers stealthily heading to the door and opened using the door knob revealing no one standing outside his door on the hallway except for a brown parcel lying on the ground which he took and head back inside shutting the door behind him.
