THE BEGINNING:CHAPTER XXXI:UNDER COVER
We can't let him join them",
Mavdon said in sheer agitation as his ferocious eyes fell on his fellow members whose visage seems to have gotten used to his blunt faces almost covered with mild traces of coarse wrinkles.
"But we have no choice",
The soft but intrusive voice of Pinx responded amidst the tempered discord between the elders of the Magistrum whose efforts in getting themselves to arrive on an imperative decision to decide the fate of Pennant Quincy, was proving very hard for them to deliberate on since any effort done to retain the bitten fellow as an acolyte in the sect would inevitably break one of their most sacred and revered code despite the prevailing circumstances surrounding his accidental injury which would not be good for the moral upbringing of the other disciples. The suicide squad had succeeded in their goal in routing one of the local district hideout of the Sao clan even though they failed to apprehend their district leader, alongside ten other werewolves including the humans, who narrowly escaped being slaughtered by the highly skilled advocates and their comrades whose learned efforts in trying to overcome the wild ferocious monsters proved futile but rewarding after using their conbative techniques and sharp weapons to slay some of the minions in sheer luck. Although they gained the upper hand during the deadly brawl against the creatures thanks to the clever but risky plan devised by Azgaz and the noble effort of Pennant, they were left with few casualties on their side especially the undercover acolyte who got bitten during the fierce battle for dominance which ended in the favor of the infiltrators and whose case is being contemplating upon in a fierce argument amongst the elders while Azgaz and his subordinate stood below the colossal seats of the argumentators waiting to know if their intercessory role on pleading for the injured fellow who has been quarantined in a small dungeon inside a cellar underneath the tall castle, will prove worthwhile to plead for his life as well as his status in the sect.
Unknown to them, Bella had snuck past the two guards into the cellar without them noticing her surreptitious infiltration into his room and had been keeping him company for some days after the incident in order to placate his apprehensive mindset since he knew himself that he may possibly be transformed into a werewolf the next full moon after receiving a ghastly bite on his shoulder by one of Camonda's minon and would interminably be cast out of the sect.
"Yes, we do",
Karl responded, "Which is?",
"Either we have him killed or chase him out of the manor",
"That would definitely not be good for the others",
,Tezmon rejoined, "Of course, they won't fold their arms and watch their comrade be torn to pieces",
"And you expect us to let him go out there and join the pack of those vicious creatures?",
",No, that won't help either. He knows all of our secrets including the location of the hideout",
"Then there's no other option than to keep him locked up until we figure out what to do with him",
"I----",
Melizar intruded with a small bow, "Pardon me, your eminence for interrupting, I would like to make out a good suggestion which might solve this dilemma and aid us in our fight against the Sao clan",
"Go ahead and speak",
"Without wasting much time, I suggest we use him as a spy against our enemy",
"A good one but a risky idea, don't you think?",
"Yes, I do but I'd like to tell you that we actually succeeded largely because of his unseen efforts inside their hideout which I, myself, didn't expect he would pull off under the watchful eyes of those creatures",
"Alright, I understand what you mean....Here's what will happen. Azgaz and Melizar will be held responsible for him if he turns against us in the future and he must go through some rigorous test for four days which Pinx and both of you will supervise before we can be sure to use him as our spy so that he won't be swayed by their gibberish talks",
"We will obey your command",
The two advocates chorused in rejoining response and walked out of the chamber heading to the second corridor where they stopped walking and stood near an opened wall but saw none of the guards except for the stairs that ran beneath the castle to the dungeons which took them straight down to where they had kept the isolated acolyte and caught Bella red handed caressing part of his cheeks. They were surprise at her presence in the room as well as the two lovebirds but they ignored it and brought the injured fellow out of the underground cell while Bella trailed behind feeling a bit afraid of being punished for her unrelenting stubborn attitude which her foster father had strongly warned against ever since he noticed her sudden attachment to Quincy after they came back from their successful mission.
After four days of intensive training, Pennant was taken back to Greaves to live in Raymond's home for a week, where he receive some vital training fron the experienced cop in order to fully get himself familiar with the civilised environment of the city before the next full moon which will occur in the next couple of days.
Before leaving Pennant in Raymond's care, Melizar had instructed the NAS agent to prepare a secret place for him before the arrival of the full moon where the acolyte will be chained and could fully transform into a werewolf without having to kill someone during the moonlight which would keep the citizens safe and to prevent their enemy from finding out his presence in the city.
Two nights passed until the night which the anticipated full moon was to occur, arrived and Raymond had taken the young lad in his automobile, to a safe house in the forest, a short distance away from the noisy docks few hours before sunset along with some chains heavy enough to detain the monster during its transformation. He securely parked his car in front of the safe house made of thick bamboo sticks, away from the watchful eyes of passerby and alighted the vehicle alongside Pennant who went out of the car with a red knapsack strapped to his back while the driver quickly went to the back of the truck and took our a black duffel bag partially unzipped which exposed the hefty chains to the anxious acolyte as the security officer walked past him to the door of the cabin in order to get the sealed door open for both of them to enter. Raymond dropped the huge bag on the frontyard of the house, placing it down on the sandy ground before bringing out a bunch of keys from the left front pocket of his black pants and unlocked the door using the keyhole on the doorknob, to unbolt the latch from inside giving the free access to the safe house.
"Come inside, Quincy. The house won't eat you",
Steven said to the stranded fellow outside as he strolled into the furnished living room of the cabin, carrying the black bag on his left shoulder towards the fireplace after bending down his head to pass through the small door because of his tall height.
