THE BEGINNING:CHAPTER XXXII:GREEDY SECRECY
Night came sooner than expected, descending fully upon the partial surface of the earth and unto the civilized land of the dense human population living amidst the concrete jungle of Greaves as well as the busy but silent streets of the east urban city including the eastern costal areas of the dark city gilded by colourful electronic lights whose brightness was sharp enough to enable a free traffic flow for pedestrian and motorists to thrive freely to their planned destination as a result of the glimming light, emanating from different lights source especially from fancy restaurants beside the busy road which illumined the tarred tarmac for drivers and passengers to find their way home. Although most part of the city was brightly illuminated by the electronic lights, the eastern grassy mountain which stood before the ebbing reef was left in complete darkness except for an aura of lights below where a lush mansion sat underneath the steep hill which was heavily guarded by twenty blood sucking vampires under full disguise of human security guards posted in strategic places by the affluent owner, within and outside the iron gates of the secret house in order to prevent encroachment of uninvited visitors to their domain through the smooth linking roads from the distant city. The leader of the Lyoana clan peered at the rocky edges of the dark ocean on the beach outside the gates through an opaque window from the upper fancy room of the house and return his gaze at twelve black automobiles and a red Lamborghini neatly arrayed on the left side of the fairly large inner courtyard facing a rose garden located beside two exquisitely statues of model like angels while four sculptures of little angels erected on a flowing fountain stood amisdst the four statues on the smooth interlocked tiles since two other similar statues was placed at opposite angles with the others but a bit farther away from there on the roundabout which had given enough space for the owners of the vehicles to drive through and safely park their cars within the wide courtyard of the estate. All of the district leaders of the vampire clan have been summoned to an urgent meeting regarding the recent failed attack they had offensively taken against their ancient rivals which resulted in heavy casualties on their side than the opponents themselves whom they thought would be easily obliterated completely if they attack in large numbers but ended up losing a lot of valuable lives in the process of overthrowing the local hideout even though the odds were extremely in their favour until an unexpected change of the upper hand during the battle made them suffer heavy losses when reinforced oppositions arrived to help their desperate comrades along with a good number of loyal beta wolves as well as four recruited bio wolfs whose contribution in slaying a lot of helpless vampires proved severely damaging for the attackers who were astonished to see their teammates being slashed to black dust by the long talons of the hefty fellows that were immune to their ineffective bullets. The encounter with the four strange beast whose immunity to their lethal bullets was one of the major reason the furious leader of the clan had summoned his subordinates to the meeting in his home which happens to serve as their main headquarter ever since they migrated to the city many years ago. Bertrand held a small glass of red blood swaying it slowly as he stood near the open curtains gazing at the blackness of the distant ocean while listening to the cross opinions of his subordinates seated at opposite angles behind his back on the black sofa.
"I told you that the time to attack them hasn't yet ripe enough for us to begin our assaulted plan",
The hoarse voice of an apprehensive bald headed man clad in red suit commented in response to a white haired fellow in black cloak.
"But we almost succeeded if not for the unexpected arrival of reinforcements",
A man scoffed. "Thanks to them, we suffered a huge defeat",
"We shouldn't have began this attack in the first place",
Another man seated next to the Baldheaded man remarked bitterly.
"Roland, are you saying it's my fault we lost the battle?",
"Undeniably, yes",
"You really have the nerve to put the blame on me",
"Of course, you are responsible for our unforeseen defeat in Summerville",
"How so?", Michael replied and got up from his seat ready to fight against the old fellow despite being greatly outmatched by the bald headed man.
"The plan to expand our territory in that city was your idea",
"And it has achieved quite a significant success until we failed to defeat our enemy",
"Then you shouldn't have bothered with one of the local den of the Sao clan",
"Even though the attack was premature, the boss already agreed for us to commence the attack",
Michael muttered out in sheer agitation.
Another commented. "Roland, you should know that the boss didn't object against the plan to attack the werewolves",
"Beside, we all agreed to go ahead with the attack last time",
"I may have voted because Michael told us their hideout wasn't heavily guarded but I wasn't truly in support with the idea of going up against them when the time for us to start our grand plan hasn't fully ripen",
"Then you should not have voted along with us",
"I did a thorough checkup on the security of the local den which appeared to be very poor and less impregnable",
"So that's why you suggested we attack them in large numbers",
"Exactly",
"Little did you know that they had a secret weapon with them which almost got me killed",
An angry commenter sitting near the fancy wallpaper snapped in fury .
"I'm truly sorry about the unexpected arrival of the four monsters. I myself, was surprised that they had such ferocious creatures",
Michael apologized and took his seat back on the couch.
Bertrand cut in. "They must have been secretly planning on something big with the Mayor without our knowledge all this while",
"That's right. And I presumed they had accepted his offer after we refused to lend him some of our faithful warriors some few years back", Joseph rejoined.
"Do you think we made the right choice to reject his proposal back then?",
"Roland, are you saying my decision to refuse his outrageous demand turn out to be wrong?",
Bertrand interrupted the intended response from the others before turning around with an angry glare at the fretful visage of the baldheaded fellow who trembled in trepidation when his eyes fell on the ferocious eyes of his master and stuttered out in reply.
"That...isn't what...I meant to say",
"Then tell us what you actually mean!",
Bertrand ordered with a thundering voice which sent chills all over the body of the frightful fellow who chose not to say anything.
He calmed down his temper and looked at the pale faces of the others who were deeply strucked silent by his loud command before taking another sip of fresh blood from his glass which cooled down his hot nerves.
"Do you have any idea why I haven't punished anyone for the failed attempt and the deaths of our loyal followers until now?",
He asked savouring the silence response and the pale visage of his subordinates in the room.
"Because of the partial success of the incident though we lost a lot of lives in the process but we were able to be aware of what they had in secret. If we hadn't attack in the first place, we wouldn't have known their hidden artillery",
His listeners nodded in agreement as he moved slowly towards them and stopped walking to continue his speech in response to his own question and further took two steps forward, a bit closer to Roland and throttled the neck of the baldheaded fellow in brute force but he left the strangled man barely alive to gasp out in demand for air leaving everyone in the room including Michael except himself and the throttled fellow, in sheer fear.
"But As you are all aware of,...what we have been preparing for in deep silence which we started...a hundred years ago, greatly surpass those mechanized beast they think will help them achieve their goals. So look on the bright side, Roland, we still have the upper hand in this silent war and what they have is nothing compared to what we have install for them",
He finally said grudgingly letting go of the baldheaded man who almost choked to death and returned back to his former position near the curtains leaving the other district leader appalled and horrified.
