THE BEGINNING:CHAPTER XXIX:INFILTRATION
The pale light emitted by the waxing gibbous in the dark sky, fell upon some hooded figures crouching below in the shadows amidst the dark alleys of the tall buildings opposite a local hideout situated at the south side of the city near the seaport, being organized by one of Camonda's henchmen, fully armed with lethal weapons which the brave selected acolytes will used as protection against the werewolves while carrying out their suicidal mission to cripple their secret expansion amongst humans starting with the local den in accordance with their pledge get rid of their clan entirely and to begin the silent war against the vicious mutants who seek to manipulate their way into power over the innocent citizens, ruled by an army of beast like creatures. The Magistrum had ordered the suicide squad to take the offensive approach towards their adversaries in order to checkmate the spread of the Sao clan within the two cities and had told them to wipe out every creature inside the hideout before returning back to their headquarters.
Azgaz had led the twelve men suicide squad along with Melizar who left the care of the junior acolytes entirely in the hands of the fourth elder of the Magistrum for a temporary period until he returns from completing the risky mission and had came up with a plan to ease their burden while they wait patiently in the shadows for the arrival of their thirteenth disciple as they kept watching the oblivious four security guards standing outside the targeted house in tight lookout for intruders. They waited for a while hoping to see their plan begin to take place but it began to diminish as time wore on slowly far into the night which made them feel a bit confused and uneasy with the sheer apprehension that their brother had been caught and their plan had already been ruined by the young lad who volunteer to be used as the vital part of the tactical strategy to penetrate into the den flooded with thirty ferocious beast in human form in order to lessen their casualties.
"I told you to pick someone else instead of motivated them to volunteer themselves",
Melizar whispered to his old comrade in battle.
"It doesn't matter if he was chosen or not",
"It does and I still think you should have chosen someone capable enough to play the undercover cop",
"I know what you mean but we can't back out now. Beside, he's yet to prove us wrong",
Azgaz responded muttering quietly and chased away a cat lurking around dumpster using a small stone
"He better get here fast. Time isn't on our side and the others are feeling restless with this plan of yours",
"Sure they are and like I said earlier, patience is required to make this plan succeed in our favour",
"You sure about that?",
"Very much",
"What if the boy fails, and this whole plan backfires?",
"I better hope for the best with a positive mindset",
"Is that so?",
"Of course, my good friend. Pessimism will only hinder us from acheiving victory and I believe that your mind isn't full of doubts",
"Of course not. I'm just being observant since we can't let our mind be distracted by victory only",
"Peharps, you are right. Sometimes things doesn't go as planned",
"True indeed. Maybe this time around might be different",
"I hope so. I got a weird feeling that you don't like the kid",
"Maybe",
"Is it because of Bella?",
"Far from it, my dear friend",
"Then what's the reason?",
"Well..I know that Pennant's trying to prove himself worthy enough to climb up the ranks but personally, I don't see that combative zeal to fight in him",
"Then instill some fighting spirit on the young boy, teacher",
"It's not that easy",
"But you did it for Bella before she lost the duel, didn't you?",
"That's different. She already had that kind of aggression in her blood before I taught her",
"You know that everyone else in the manor are not the same",
"Yes, I know that just like our teenage group back in the day when we were still acolytes",
"Absolutely, time flies so quickly",
"Tell me about it",
"Even though Pennant luckily won the duel to join the senior acolytes, he still needs your mentorship to guide him on some advanced techniques regardless of my presence as their assigned master",
"Fine. I'll think about it",
"What about the others? Don't you think they need that too?",
"We'll get to that once we finish our mission here",
The commander responded in the dark as two black cars which conveyed a few selected humans that were recruited to join the sect at a local casino a few miles from the remote areas to the main city of Greaves, to the local den alongside the shrewd undercover fellow who secretly made his way into the selected team through the help of a NAS agent named Raymond who was secretly contacted by Melizar for the second time when they first landed in the city in sheer disguise, in order to get the young fellow into the casino with falsified identities even though the inexperienced fellow retained his name as Pennant Quincy but a different profession entirely.
The humans including Pennant, alighted the two vehicles heading into the unlocked building as the host's henchmen led the recruits inside the building through the fancy corridors cloaked with scary antiques at each corner of the aisle as well as old paintings on the wall, to the main chamber where twenty two fellows clad in black suit sat down on the four couches neatly arrayed in the spacious while the leader of the district sat on an ancient chair with two hefty guards standing behind him near a small bar where several drinks were kept on the glassy cupboard staring at the patient fellow through their transparent shield.
An italian opera song from the late sixties emanated from a radio set which filled the air with its cool music soothing the impatient nerves of the awaiting triad including the brown haired fellow clad in a green outfit seated on the chair, who felt intrigued and motivated by the music which seems to wash off his frustration of waiting for the expected guests to arrive whose sudden appearances in the chamber behind their messenger created a ruckus of excitement amongst the audience that caught the attention of the enthralled leader while the lanky messenger led the men to the spacious arena facing the blunt face of their district leader as well as the expressionless faces of the two bodyguards standing behind him.
