THE BEGINNING:CHAPTER XXII:INSIGHTS

Steven walked briskly to his desk where he had left some red files and sat down on his black office chair which supported his full weight regardless of its small size before clicking on the mouse on the desk that switched on his laptop which he had left on when he went to the restroom after usually resuming early for work in the early hours of Friday morning in order to figure some queer things that doesn't had up during the investigation.
Chief Sheridan had freed the two NAS agent from detention since he can't prosecute them in court for having intruded without authorisation in the ongoing investigation about what happened to the crash aircraft that led to the death of all passengers on board which were recovered from the wreckage, due to fact that he had publicly informed the NAS agency to partake in a joint collaborative investigation through the media, unknowningly sabotaging his efforts to detain Steven Raymond and his partner whom he reluctantly release from their precinct after much pressure from the Mayor who might be blamed for wrongly arresting security agents that were performing their duty in accordance with the police chief's public statement but Joe was kept in detainment and was later transfered without the knowledge of his two acquaintance as well as his agency, to a secret facility outside the city where he was brutally tortured and locked up away in a dark cell where no ray of sunlight could be seen.
Luckily for the two agents who got out of the detention centre, Joe had surreptitiously given Jim Jonas his cell phone that contains vital photos of the dead bodies which he had taken in the morgue before they were apprehended by the police during their unauthorized investigation in the case. Steven had wondered why the police chief would ordered all the corpses to be cremated without permission from families of the deceased before making a public statement in a press conference that they had found out using the black box that the head pilot was quite incapable of handling the controls which had led to the plane sailing off course in the air before inevitably colliding with the mountain. His claim about captain Malcolm's calibre as a head pilot of flight A43 was met with bitter disapproval from the public who criticized his findings and wild comments expressing general criticism from the mass especially the bereaved families, was uploaded on every social platform including Facebook and Twitter after he held the press conference outside the headquarters of the police force in front of wild reporters seeking to get more comments from him concerning the suspended case but received nothing from his sealed lips which was displayed on the viral news and had left public agitated for weeks as well as the security agents from the NAS agency especially Steven who kept ruminating the viral video in his mind after watching the absurd conclusion the police handed over to the public for them to believe which made him furious and couldn't have enough sleep because of the murky miscalculations that filled his entire mind and kept on replaying in his thoughts when he came in early to continue solving the case even after it has been declared closed during conference.
"Have you got any leads?", Jim asked adjusting his nerdy glasses with his left fingers after he placing his right hand on the desk beside his partner whom he had brought back from memory lane about the what took place the previous day.
"Not yet. But I will once we find out the identity of those behind this photos using our FSIS", Steven replied scrolling downwards on the laptop screen using the mouse which revealed large grid photos of the dead corpses derived from Joe's cell phone into the computer.
"Sorry to tell you about this, i don't think we can use our facial scan identity software for the case" Jonas said whispering softly while peering at their director who walked into their department and handed some documents to a female agent before returning back to the exit which took him out of their department.
"What do you mean we can't use it? The case maybe closed by the police but our agency hasn't declared it so yet", Steven replied in a low tone as he stared at his boss who walked away to the next cubicle with some files in his hands until he was out of sight.
"Well, this gonna sound very bad but the director kinda held a press conference a while ago stating the closure of the case to the public which I believe was secretly ordered by the mayor", Jonas said looking at the furious countenance of Steven who managed to control his tamper.
"So you mean we aren't authorised to carry on with the investigation when there is a whole lot of evidence to prove that the airplane didn't crash because of the pilot but due something mysterious that occurred in the aircraft. And when we have seen the some things that must have gone airy which doesn't involved the dead pilot mistake according to the police report?", Steven said suppressing his anger which almost exploded out of him.
"Keep your voice down. The others might snitch if we don't act prudently for us not to get caught. I know you must be upset right now even I'm not happy about it either since someone close to me died in the aircraft but we have to be careful on how we secretly investigate this case from now on for us not to lose our job once we get caught", Joe whispered back to him placating his tamper and continued, "I know things didn't add up during the investigation even our boss as well as the NAS agency in Summervile didn't give a befitting burial for Valentina who died after the crash", he added pacifying the tempered mind of Steven.
"I heard that Chief Sheridan cremated all the bodies that died in the plan despite the pleas of the bereaved families. But did the Agency in Summervile compensated the family of the dead agent?", Steven inqiured looking at his partner as he tried to relax his breath.
"I...don't know if they did but that doesn't matter right now. What we should be thinking is how do we identify that strange corpse and some of the passengers without using the FSIS here in our precinct", Joe replied pointing at the opened corpse of John Seagull on the laptop screen.
"I know someone who might help us but don't ask me who it is since you will follow me there after we finished compiling the files for tomorrow presentation. So, I will have to copy these photos to the flashdrive and send it to him through his email once we are done with the other works", Steven said and switched off his laptop before keeping it inside his hefty shoulder bag beneath his desk while Jonas returned back to his desk in front of his partner to complete their periodic work report of cases handled by their department in the last few months.
