chapter 22
Josie POV
"-- So why didn't you say hello?" I said to Maya while placing on my makeup. We were obviously talking about a guy she saw at her job. Maya blabbered how fine he was but didn't even try to shoot her shot.
After my favorite blush and highlighter, I went over to place a nude lipstick and some gloss on top.
"I didn't know him that well Jo geez. Shall we get something to eat? I miss you.''
''I can't I have a date tonight.''
She gave me a confused look like she knew that there was much more going on underneath the surface, but thankfully, she didn't push it.
''Okay, ma. Do you, I love you okay? Talk soon?''
''Yes, love talk soon.''
Closing up the FaceTime, I went downstairs and saw Matthias walking in with anger along with Khalid and Galen. He yelled ''Moses!''
A tall-brunette man zooms towards the entrance, panicking towards Matthias. ''Sir, it was an accident, it would not happen again.''
''Glad to hear that, you're fired.''
''No! Please! Sir, Matthias, Mr.Lekas, please!''
''I said you're fired. Get out.''
Moses stammered and let out a cry. ''I'm--''
''Out!'' He shouted. ''Galen, Khalid, you know what to do.''
''Come on!'' Moses said. ''Please!'' He said in a cry while the guards kicked him out of the house.
He pulled a charcoal suit jacket up over his shoulders, grinning at my appearance.
''What the hell just happened?'' I asked him when I reached the bottom of the stairs.
''Don't worry about,'' he snapped.
Here we go again.
''What do you mean? He was our Electrician?''
''I told you don't worry, didn't I?''
''How are we going to get married and you can't even explain to me what's going on?''
''If I wanted to explain, I would've said something. But, in this case, I can't. So, don't worry about it.''
I rolled my eyes.
''Don't.''
''Don't what?''
''Roll your eyes at me.''
''Or what? I get a spank?''
''Maybe.''
I laughed at his face and he stood there in a stoic mode, standing by to what he said.
He's not joking at all...
''Let's go, we're going to be late.''
.....
Matthias revved the engine and cruised down the road, loving the way the vehicle felt beneath me. By the time we arrived outside and Matthias parked as near to the place as he could, my insides were buzzing with anticipation. This was going to be a night to remember - I felt certain of it.
"Hello there, Mr. Lekas," the bouncer greeted Matthias, filled with seriousness. "Welcome, please come to the VIP entrance."
I felt bad for walking past all those people shivering from the cold, who had probably been there for hours, but Matthias didn't. This was just my lifestyle that I'm going to adapt to.
"Awesome, thank you,'' he responded.
We were taken to a booth, which allowed me to look down over the dance floor of the normal people, and a selection of drinks was brought to my table. I knew for a fact that I would have every single one of my needs serviced tonight.
''I'll be your waiter today, what would you like?'' He asked.
''Uh, grilled chicken wonton tacos with some water please,'' I said to him.
''Mm-hmm, and you Mr.Lekas?''
''Chicken fajita roll-up with sprite,'' he said to the waiter.
''Okay, I'll take the menus, I'll be right with you guys in twenty-minutes.''
"Now," his smiled smugly at me. "Let's get down to business, shall we?"
"I don't want any trouble," I tried once more. "Please, just leave me alone."
''Baby girl, you're not getting trouble. Relax,'' he interlocks his hands on mine and continues to smile at me.
''We have four months, and I want to take the time to get to know each other more.''
ABOUT TIME
''Really?'' I said in a sarcastic tone.
''Yes, so from here on and out, we don't go to Shirley for fun facts. We need to communicate more in order for this to actually work out.''
''Okay fine, communicating at all times. But, don't get it twisted Matthias, you cross me, we're going to have issues.''
''Fiesty woman aren't you?''
''That's what happens when you're dealing with a Leo woman like myself.''
''Yikes,'' he whispered which made me let out a chuckle. "Very glad you decided to join me."
''Yeah, well, I had no choice.''
We went on to have a suitably superficial conversation, never really discussing anything serious, all the while we traced along with each other. I kept my attention solely on him for a lot of the time, just so he felt special.
It's crazy to say that we both had so much in common. Types of food we like, music genres, childhood, dealing with mental health, everything. I even questioned myself, how is this even happening?
A billionaire like Matthias would never even try but for some reason, he did.
His words touched me in a way that he didn't even realize. I liked that he was a good listener.
Looking at me with all of his attention, not worrying about what's going on. After all, he didn't carry all good qualities with it. Money, yes, but niceness, not always.
But it didn't matter. I knew something about Matthias was different I had just confirmed that.
